i have two guesses about that:

1. the producers of the show is giving a chance to them, so they could show their collection in fashion week.

2. they are decoys, so the audience would only know who made it to the final 5, but don't know the final 3.

She makes good points but I feel her taste is too conservative. All of these collections are not creative enough in my opinion. and what's up with the colors? who wants to wear these colors? kenley is ok but it didn't look unified and also a bit typical. leanne's is not bad but again, nothing ground breaking. I know design is hard but I don't see the point in cutting the time for them, and I personally hate boring and traditional ideas. nothing special. :(

curve is bad if its unintentional, curvy is wrong if its a matter of poor fit. This lady was talking about the garments not fitting the models properly. Stylistically curvy is different--Kenley had that.

curves are fine, but if they look like they are wearing a burlap bag, which makes them look curvy in the wrong places, then that is bad. plus fashion is about the super skinny girls, because you can best show the silouhette of the dress on a super skinny girl. it's not size-ist (is that a word?) it's just more astetically pleasing to watch.

Why did Leanne win?

Her collection was boring, predictable, yet innovative.

No wonder, I always thought this season's collection was much simpler than last season though conceptually, Leanne and Christian are on two ends of the pole, one is very famine with bright & light colors, the other is very masculine with dark & dim colors. I like Leanne's though

the new york fashion week is before the finale is aired so in order to keep the identity of the three finalists a secret, they let 6 designers design a line. so when the finale is aired, they will only show three finalists on tv. hope that helps!

I think overall this season's designers are not as good as season 3 and 4. Esp Season 3, I could still remember all the final collection clothes from the four designers, they were all different but had their own signature styles.

The whole concept of Leanne's line copied Christian's winning show last season. I can't believe no one else notices that the unfolding fabric leaves on her garments are exactly what he innovated.

Oh my god Leanne's was so stunning gets better everytime i see it. Judges bitchy for cutting the time. Leanne's collection would hav e been ever more beautiful. Cato's fit would have been better as well.

I think the show also has to take responsibilty for NOT giving these designers MORE time to do their collections...they had about half the time allowed in previous seasons. Had to be very stressful.

Season 3's designers also had a short timeframe to make collections, and yet that season turned out 3 of the best collections PR has seen in any of its finales. The problem with the collections this season is that, quite simply, the talent is not what it has been in past seasons.

Suede was the only complete embarrassment, but just imagine if Laura Bennett or Jillian Lewis had been a part of Season 5.  They would have crushed the competition.

This runway show was on Sep. 12, the last day of Spring 2009 New York Fashion Week. In order to keep the TV audience in suspense Project Runway gave the opportunity to all six finalist to participate. So, they may air all six or just the final tree.

They had so little time because they just shot the season this past June (they could only do the show in the summer at Parsons). If they showed at February's fashion week instead, Bravo would have had to wait until early next year to air the season.
