Yeah, but Rivers had a lifetime to write the blue album. After that he was under pressure of expectations and time constraints. So, obviously anything after the debut album probably won't be as "good". I don't really see how they sold out. I'm pretty sure signing with a major label is selling out then. You're right. The thing that was so genius with Weezer's debut was, apart from Rivers being a extremely talented songwriter and musician, that is was so un-pretentious and un-snobby. You could feel that these guys loved both Nirvana and Pixies and Judas Priest and Kiss and that is a good approach - good music will always be good music, no matter it's "indie credibility".

I mean the blue album is one of my all time favorite albums out of any band but the only other weezer album I can listen to is pinkerton. Out of 7 albums that is not very good odds.
