Funny thing that Van Grizzlies was really bad team in NBA, and Memphis Grizzlies are Mediocre team as well, of course you have guys like Gasol, Mayo, but still this team gets little attention from fans and the NBA. IT will be great if Clippers will move to Van City and Hornets will move to Seattle as the Sonics, and Charlotte Bobcats will buy rights to call their team as Hornets that will be great and there is a possibility becouse now NBA owns NO Hornets.

After that happened I parted ways with the Grizzlies organization & settled for the Dallas Mavericks to be my new favorite NBA team & now I've been a Mavericks fan for 10 years (2001- Present). i don't remember the Vancouver Grizzlies very well, I guess it was because they didn't get much TV exposure back then. So far this team has been poorly maintained, they left for another small market in Memphis, still don't get exposure. Also they allowed a talented players to leave like Mike bibby, Abdul-Rahim, Pau Gasol, Mike Miller, Shane battier,etc. to just to name a few.

they were sold to a guy from there, he thought he could make money down there, still owns them and loses millions everywhere. If Vancouver gets an NBA team in the near future it will probably be a team that's looking to relocate. I doubt the NBA would add another expansion team right now because that would fuck up the current alignment of 5 teams per divison.

They both said after the ('99)lockout and when ownership changed hands, the Grizz struggled in every way you can imagine. the canadian dollar sunk to as low as .65 American cents and Heisley claimed to have lost almost 70 million in the last yr in Vancouver!

I can tell that you are probably not an american. Memphis is a huge, exciting city. Vancouver moved not because of fan base, but becuase the city of vancouver could not give the basketball team what they wanted. When seattle moved, they moved not becuase of the fans, but becuase the owner felt that the city was inadequate in their needs/wants.

I don't know about their attendance figures, but I do know that at the time this video was made, their franchise record was 29-135. Based on that alone, I can't imagine they were able to sustain high attendance figures.

i don't remember the Vancouver Grizzlies very well, I guess it was because they didn't get much TV exposure back then. So far this team has been poorly maintained, they left for another small market in Memphis, still don't get exposure. Also they allowed a talented players to leave like Mike bibby, Abdul-Rahim, Pau Gasol, Mike Miller, Shane battier,etc. to just to name a few.

they were sold to a guy from there, he thought he could make money down there, still owns them and loses millions everywhere. Vancouver got screwed, great market, great fans, great city, organization handled like a joke, mostly thanks to Stu Jackson, who is VP of NBA now go figure. Stern said he greatest mistake was letting the grizzlies leave vancouver. They deserve team back.

If Vancouver gets an NBA team in the near future it will probably be a team that's looking to relocate. I doubt the NBA would add another expansion team right now because that would fuck up the current alignment of 5 teams per divison.

They both said after the ('99)lockout and when ownership changed hands, the Grizz struggled in every way you can imagine. the canadian dollar sunk to as low as .65 American cents and Heisley claimed to have lost almost 70 million in the last yr in Vancouver!

I can tell that you are probably not an american. Memphis is a huge, exciting city. Vancouver moved not because of fan base, but becuase the city of vancouver could not give the basketball team what they wanted. When seattle moved, they moved not becuase of the fans, but becuase the owner felt that the city was inadequate in their needs/wants.
N' if it makes you feel better, the grizzlies may end up moving agian, prob. to seattle.

it wasn't the attendance, it was the canadian dollar that killed the franchise (would be a different story now). That, and the fact that all the big businesses in Canada backed the Raptors and hung the Grizz out to dry. Also, David Stern not caring about the Pacific Northwest markets didn't help either (see. seattle).

I don't know about their attendance figures, but I do know that at the time this video was made, their franchise record was 29-135. Based on that alone, I can't imagine they were able to sustain high attendance figures.

Vancouver has a Professional Team starting play in 2009. The Vancouver Titans of the IBL or International Basketball League will play in Langley.
