Actually there are two cocoons (chrysalids) shown in this video. I moved them together using the same attachment point on the branch because it looked like they both might emerge at the same time - and they would have, if the lower one had been able to finish. Instead, it died before eclosing while the upper one eclosed successfully.

Yes it is - it seems to happen a lot in nature. I've gotten used to it, but it helps it helps to focus on the successes. :-)
