C4C was the stupidest idea the govt. has ever had. It was supposed to get the crappy vehicles off the road (which is fine with me) and help the economy by getting people to buy new, cleaner cars. But the problem was that a lot of cars considered "clunkers" were actually decent cars, and most of people were trading in their clunkers at foreign car dealerships (Honda, Toyota, Hyundai, etc) which only gave money to other countries instead of helping American car companies.
Watching this just makes me sad. So many of these cars are great cars for someone who can't afford to spend a fortune on a new vehicle...not to mention destroying these cars drives up the price of other used vehicles. I drive a '96 Accord with over 240,000 miles on it and it is anything but a clunker. I'll drive it until it is dead because it is a great car. I'm sure Obama had good intentions with this program, but in reality I think everybody loses here. What a waste.

This guy incorrectly warmed up the engine. The ECU will warm it up without you holding the gas. keep it below 3k RPM for a while so the oil can cycle through. He probably destroyed it right there.

I own a 1990 4Runner5 spd. with 455,000 kms on it (just under 280,000 miles). Despite some minor rust problems, and some perishables (brakes, tires) needing replacing soon, it is the most fun vehicle to drive in the world. Any decent car will last you that long, just look after it and don't skip regular maintenance. Why the hellwould you put yourself another truckload more in credit debt on a new sh^$&y eco-box?
I understand doing this if a vehicle isnt road-worthy. But the problem is only about 10-20% of vehicles traded in C4C wernt road-worthy. I even read a report someone traded in a 2007 Saleen F-150. It would have made alot more sense to donate vehicles like this. But then again, this IS Obama.

Waste of a perfectly good Toyota SUV. It looked like it had less than 100,000 miles on it. That engine was probably good for 300,000 miles if not many more miles than that. I have a 1998 Honda Civic DX 2dr. hatchback with 101,000 miles on it. The engine uses very, very little oil.

@kauaiboy89 I don't know, maybee Obama want us to ride on a small Hatchback with cramped up Backseat with no legroom, no truck space, this doesn't work for a family of 4 when they need trunk space for their suit case and lugadge when they travel someplace. If we still had our 97 Mercury Grand Marquis, I would hold on to it, because it has roomy seats, roomy trunk space, strong working Airconditon, and it drives almost like a dream.

That 4runner was worth more than 5000 dollars. My dad sold his 6 months ago for 7000 dollars with 160,000 miles. Sold the 1st day on craigslist! Still has at least 100,000 more miles left to go along with this 4runner. What a waste!!!!!!!!!!!!!! There a lot of people out there that would really injoy that SUV!!!!!F Obama!!!!!! This engine ran okay for a few minutes with what's kind of like liquid sand. Really. Pour a scoop of sand from the side of the road in your engine and rev it up. Unlike GMs which are obvious problems And you know how many recalls GM had? Ford is the only GOOD US. Auto maker Consumer Reports rated them the best for the US in reliability and they are coming back. WITH NO HELP FROM MY TAX DOLLARS. My Toyota 4Runner has 314,xxx Miles with nothing done, so I WILL GLADLY DRIVE IT.
