I doubt that it was a tornado emergency, because one occurs when an EF5 is headed towards a largely populated area (10,000 or more). Seeing that Aurora, NE had around 4,500 population during the 2000 census, it is more likely to be a Tornado Warning than an emergency.
Also, just a question, why is it that, on the radio, they have a klaxon that gets your attention, then the "Tornado Warning" voice is incomprehensible?
AT 918 PM CDT...NATIONAL WEATHER SERVICE METEOROLOGISTS WERE TRACKING A TORNADO. THIS IS A TORNADO EMERGENCY AS A LARGE TORNADO WAS LOCATED NEAR AURORA...OR 17 MILES EAST OF GRAND ISLAND...AND MOVING EAST AT 20 MPH.
@L3wa Just going along with the post, you cannot determine the strength of a tornado after it has happened. There is no set population needed for a tornado emergency, just a populated area. The NWS felt that this was strong enough to be a tornado emergency, so one statement was issued
Man I woud kill to watch one!!! You knw how people go inside when it storms, I go outside! I record that shit, but I NEVER saw a twister in my life. When I get a car, I'll be all over the place.
They are kinda riskign their lives doing this and so they just dont' have time for simple ettiquette. There is too much adrenaline and excitement to mind each p and q that might be being recorded...i forgive them. ;)
@stormtracker05 Absolutely right. Reminds me of
how rapidly the nausea developed when I saw
"Twister!" for the first time and that dim bulb ran
in and said "TV says it might be an F5!" shortly
after identifying the year as 1969. So he was
either Ms. Cleo or the researchers for the movie
were as bright as a black hole..because the "F"
scale didnt exist in 1969. Fujita and Pearson
unveiled it after the Lubbock tornado ;-)

@ChristopherSaindon Thing is with meteorologists on TV they never predict how bad a tornado is gonna be

Wow! Incredible inflow. Hope the "rude and crude" wasn't aimed at a $3000 per trip client.

I've noticed that most of the storm chasers are rude and crude to another, very bossy too, why is that?
topaz38 2 years ago
Cause they know much more than the others and try to keep people safe and they are busy trying to see what the storm is going to do.
