@bonekinhadlixo I'll take a stab at it teenagers find out young you need a friend to get it done all you want is a fine time nothing to make you run run away teenager I am my youth is fading away misconception a challenge to get my way to get my way and I cannot help and I cannot share and I cannot follow turn the people round turn the people round life is so tough from where I come from everything's unbearable I wish my time was done my time was done
Look at the drummer, remaining a sharp-snare-banging-mod-in-black way after the others have gone with the wind in their sails and grown colours in their clothes and the psychedelic grunge style of the period and their hair. By 1984, they were Reaganites, in sharp haircuts, almost DEVOesque. Great band, great seachange this band were for the alt-top 40 of the early '80s that was accessible to the lads in the suburbs like me
@1251wire lol... nah, the sunnyboys stand on their own ground... i don't think anybody from the Strokes faced the implications of a tortured man as much as Jeremy face. Good thing he survived it. Shame his music didn't...
@nzoz1982 Yeah I'm with you NZ.. fuck the strokes (isnt that something associated with self pleasure) The Sunnyboys were pure class.. absolutely brilliant...as per usual brilliant posting..
@newellgirl I try not to be dismissive of bands and those who made it big, but ... the Strokes really have struck me as an overrated band and one that's often used when comparing overseas bands to 30 year old Australian bands. It just isn't The Strokes... I think somebody else made a comment about NZ's The Chills, claiming their single 'Tally Ho' sounds like The Strokes... the tail doesn't wag the dog... The Clean were first, same as The Sunnyboys and they're both four decades ago.
@nzoz1982 The Strokes have very good songs which people over look such as 'Reptillia' or 'Hard To Explain' - great melodic guitar work and not over-rated.
Hey all, does anyone out there know where I could find Sunnyboys T-shirts? Is anybody reproduced them? I had two when I was younger and wore them everyday just wishing I had put one away for a rainy day.....
We had these guys come to the Frankston high school a few times when the Big Fish used to run on a Sat night. I think that was 1973 ish. They must have shit themselves it was a surfer and skin head /sharpies and rockers night of fights all fuelled by real cheap booze and cheap women usually. :-)
We had Bon Scott with Ad /dc there heaps of times also Lobby Loyd and the colored balls Broderick smith. Madderlake .Ariel,Carson,MAx Merriet and the meteors,Hush Matt Taylor Phil manning with Chain
Wow. Great stuff. Never got to experience on this sound on this side of the lake. Sounds so current. You tube is the best! There are no more 'eras' now only good music that the people will choose!

Luckily, I got to see these guys dozens of times at the Pig Room at the Surfers Hotel, the Playroom and up and down the east coast. Always amazing (except the few times they were just too wasted to play).
A great band with great songs, who put it all into a performance.
Jeremy was a QLD Junior Surfing Champion in the late '70s too. What a talent.
Hi Ryan!! How are ya? Just a quick note relating to your discussion with Shorn ... I have gotten on pretty good terms with a 'Big 80s music Star' (name-dropper, huh!!) who lives nearby me (Erko / Newtown!!). He'd appeared on Countdown a few times, so, anyway, I've mentioned your great work here & he was unaware of it. I cannot begin to tell you how flattered & thrilled he was!! Passed on all his newfound info to old RnR mates. You've done well, mate! Keep it up!
It was actually Gillian. Gayle and her both watched the Monitors clip and had a laugh. She thanked me for the upload, asked how she could download it to her computer and told me a little about her current life. We exchanged a couple of messages. I'd like her to contact me again.
Ryan, just out of interst. Have any of these bands commented one way or another about you dusting off their old videos, and not only reminding us in Australia, but introducing young folk to their music some 2 years later?
I've gotten messages and comments from members of Outline, Jimmy & The Boys, Boom Crash Opera, Jeff Duff & Kush as well as Stephen Cummings, Dave Evans, Fred Cass (on NZOZ1976), Chris Lofven and last, but not least THE BLAKENEY TWINS; the twins from the Monitors (and later Neighbours). There are more people, but I cannot think of names right on top of my head right now.

I remember these days, they were a pretty cool band, they fit the time nice.
How on the fly was Countdown aye?
Poor old Jezza chasing the microphone that wasn't tightened up properlike....
But maybe that was a show thang, cause I reckon there was a fair bit of that action back then....
made them look technical playing real simple shit...
maybe the mikestands were shit...
They were good.
