  • this is awesome!

  • It is wonderful to see the collaboration and respect between Gabriel and N'Dour... they have enriched each others life and music as well as our!

  • the best artist ever without a doubt, have seen him once a few year ago but cant wait to see him again.

  • Perfect!

  • I bet that you are beautiful.

  • does anyone know what language they're speaking? i've found a source that says it might be Wolof, a regional language in Senegal. anyone know where i can find out more info?

  • I love this. Such joy in the performance. Who needs today's manufactured music when you have such treasures as this?

  • totally awesome performance......sad that this world lacks these kinds of talented musicians......i miss my earlier years for the music that was created.

  • There are so much music out there that young people 2day "ARE CLUELESS" all they know is Lady Gaga, Lil Wayne, I mean music in the past 60's all the way through the 90's I mean They REALLY DID something for people. I'm 23 years old, and I surround myself with music from all over the world, raised in the Bronx, NY. friends can realli make fun of you!! LOL...but they don't know that there the 1's that are truly missing out, such as this CLASSIC!! and also "Sailing" by christopher Cross!!!!!!!

  • i would like to make it clear the i have the song The Candyman on my ipod (by Sammy Davis Jr), Take on Me (by Aha) Don't Stop believing (i'm sure you know who sings that) and Highway Man by Johnny Cash, and LADY GAGA. you have a point, but not everyone who listens to lady gaga is totally clueless on music from the past. yes, alot of people are, but not everybody.

  • @ivettexxx Don't stop believing is by Journey. It on YT somewhere, close to More than a Feelin'. Good stuff.

  • i know its by journey. everoyone does

  • @EdMcF1 You are comparing Peter Gabriel to Journey?

  • @jpg0572 Heck no! Peter Gabriel is in a class of his own, especially the So album. Nothing wrong with Journey, just trying to help someone locate a song.

  • Great!

  • fantastisch...... wat een optreden ..... dit concert is zeldzaam ..... degene die dit geplaatst heeft verdient een pluim !

  • Gabriel is probably one of the most underated artists out there. I think i know why though. its because he isnt pretentious, he isnt an asshole, he doesnt throw himself in front of news cameras, he doesnt fuck himself up with drugs, and he is extremely charitable. his music is so fresh and lively. it doesnt sound mundane or have the same old sounds that todays music has.

  • well, that may be one of the reasons... another could be that music is not the same as it was. there is few musicians that can give the same feeling in the music, as peter can. todays music is only heavy guitars, fast solos and screaming voises. well, thats what they play on the radio, thats what people get into, and that is what people, most " young dudes " likes. if they would try to listen to this, instead of what they DO listen to, I think they would agree with us. sry for bad enlish=)

  • @coverchenko You are so right, I totally agree with in every word you've written on this fabulous artist and genuine human being. Thank you !

  • @coverchenko You are right! There are several in the same class. Todd Rundgren, and Paul Carrick are also very talented and continue to make great music. I don't understand why we can't revolt and go back to the awesome music we had in the 80's. There are so few artists and that is a stretch to call any of the people who sing songs artists. They are copycats, taking beautiful songs and ruining them. Ex-Forever Young. If Jay-z wrote a lyric, I think his brain would explode.

  • @coverchenko I wouldn't say he is underrated, I think he is extremely appreciated just not by the ignorant masses who would rather listen to auto tuned people who don't know how to sing. He sings, he's intelligent, he plays MANY instruments, and is charitable (as you said). I believe he is fully appreciated by older fans, and younger fans who know how to expand their horizons and listen to true, deep music by REAL musicians. Most of all for having a passion for learning about other cultures.

  • @coverchenko totalmente de acuerdo contigo he is a free artist!!!

  • @coverchenko the comment about the drugs I would suppose you were not a fan in the late 70's early 80's shock the monkey - sledge hammer listen to the lyrics

  • @coverchenko So true.......underrated, I'm afraid due to commercialism.......

  • Could there be a better performance in concert then this ? I think not

  • "What a great performer". Maybe the most commanding performance I've ever seen. And what a beautiful song. This video renews my respect for artists and entertainers each time I see it.

  • the best in u r eyes version ever

  • I hope young Jake enjoys this.

  • Ils sont juste Formidable

  • Those are SWEET stage moves!

  • I was there,.. 17th row on the floor one of the best concerts of my life.

  • Ive got this on an old VHS tape and it got played so much it got all crinkly. I LOVE it! Gabriel is a hero of mine, and N'Dour is too. I especially love his recordings from 20+ years ago. Met him once - a lovely guy.

  • great song...manu katche kills on this...wow..!

  • I am dedicating this to TJ, my adored Love, who I wait with joy for his return from war.

..."Love, I don't like to see so much pain

So much wasted and this moment keeps slipping away

I get so tired of working so hard for our survival

I look to the time with you to keep me awake and alive".

I love him with the essence of all that I Am and hold his heart safe until his return to my arms.

  • A really beautiful song, i like this version the best.

  • There's such a thin boundary between silliness and art.

I like the song, but the act was just... funny ;)

  • A spiritual for the new age. What a beautiful song!It touches me on many levels!

  • the ending makes me wanna build a mudhut with sticks. lol

  • lighten up, tubby. maybe you've heard of it...it's called satire

  • Comment removed

  • hey, forget it. judging by the replies you've received in your channel comments, spaced out power tools like yourself usually jump to conclusions and fly off the handle. no surprise. lol

  • Comment removed

  • i'm conservative, that's probably why. lol. never take yourself too seriously, you'll be in for a let down. btw, it's harebrained, teach. lol

  • OOOO as in a bowl of Cheerios. Fearful of change, fanatically nationalistic, religious or both, willing to drink the Koolaid etc. I think U R capable of going beyond this, especially if U r listening to this beautiful music! None of that "it's a cruel world" fallacy.

  • Why build mudhuts ? When one can blow bubbles... after all We have the technologie!

  • blow bubbles? what, like geodesic domes?

  • Why is there not a version of this concert on DVD. I've worn one video out and lost one after lending it out. This song is the ultimate feel good track. pure class.

  • I feel the same. Asked Realworld some 4 years ago if they had something planned. No they hadn't. Silly people. This is solid gold. Pure joy on stage,

  • Having said that, I managed to copy my VHS to DVD myself. does not improve quality, but at least it doesn't get worse either. Ah, those days of the So-tour... where he still could hit the high notes...

  • my friend, i was there too, in Rome's gig. Peter could hit the high notes and our hands too on Lay your hands on me... I could catch a finger, what emotion :)

  • This is a moving song I believe was inspired by an African spirtual

  • Amazing!

  • manu ... does not get any better ...

  • Simply exquisite. It is indeed music to my ears... The whole song just carries a certain peace. It is simply impossible to define it. U have to sense it... Beautiful

  • I don't know why, but this live version always brings tears to my eyes...BEAUTIFUL! As a drummer Manu Katche's feel is untouchable in this song. His groove is all over the place, but he keeps the pocket deep like a 10 foot pocket of cement.

  • Hi Connie Tim

  • You can't have this song live without the intro part. It's not the same without that.

  • One name besides Peter...Manu Katche!!!!!!!

  • I remember the first time I saw this vid, years ago. My jaw hit the ground. Amazing!

  • Magical song...the culture blend is magnificent

  • Has nothing to do with god, human nature, we need to love and under stand the world for what it is not what some gods tells us to deliver for their own private outcome

  • Yes, I concur Rude69er: note the sign of "omega" Peter Gabrial is expressing...?

  • Alpha Omega

  • This music is about a talented man sharing the spot light with other gifted people of different cultures...

  • I bet this song is about becomming a new born christian, that the way I felt when I found the lord.

  • I really love this song.

  • great video 4 the best song

  • Correction: Manu Katché is GOD...!!!

  • If God had a Rock band, Manu Katché would definitely be his drummer!

  • amen ... amen ... amen ...

  • thank u soooooo much ... such magic ... so much beauty ... so much heart ... this is what music is really all about ... the grooooooove ... the vibe ... music is the soul ... it is god dancing on the earth ... thank u

  • God Bless you, Peter, for the greatest gift HE gave you, you Music !!

Genius, great human being, just a blessed Soul!!

And Youssou belongs to the same legacy!!

Listening to the two of them performing together is pure joy and gives me goosebumps.

  • Unsurpassed! This live version will never be bettered. Just marvellous.

  • it`s in HIS eyes!!!! Love him!!!

  • kick ass.

  • If the poster is correct about this being Toronto, then I would guess it is the Amnesty International Tour. It would have been in 1987 or '88 at Maple Leaf Gardens.

  • without a noise.... without my pride!!! I reach out from the inside!!

  • perfect performance. they are having the time of their lifes on that stage. what concert is this?

  • go back and look ath all the previous comments and the one by cellimachine from a year ago. they have it right, from a VHS release entitled POV (Point of View), no longer in print.

  • Incredible singer...his voice sounds so much better here than on one other occasion, I wonder if he was sick on that occasion. Anyways, he sounds amazing here!

  • on of the best performances I've ever seen

  • Peter Gabriel always has the best drummers in his band. I love his music.

  • Es una canción bellísima

  • One of the most brilliant and significant songs in the history of Western music. Cut Peter Gabriel open and count the layers of man.

  • Let's keep it about Peter. He's a legend in his own time.

  • Peter Gabriel: POV...
