  • @boobiesanddip resurection was good but cmon like water for choclate was easily his most intelligent and best work. i mean the production aswell dj premiers best beat n dilla it was a l;andmark for hip hop. i personally havent been much into 1 or 2 tracks per album since electric circus but im holding high hopes for dreamer/believer.

  • *bopping my head* that's all you can do to this track....

  • This is pure hip hop, 50, 2-pac were great but they were gangster rap. Different Genre. LOVE this song, his album Be was amazing.

  • 11 people misunderstood the song...

  • LMAO. some people just hit the dislike button because.... Simple mfs...... lol. This track is ridiculously tight.

  • dead presidents was addressin him. jeah.

  • Comment removed

  • Why would anyone dislike anything about this...? Seriously.

  • 10 people didn't like the album cover... which is completely understandable, because it is among the worst ever.

  • common ... poetic and legit

  • 9 people misunderstood.

  • Is that ma Nina at the very begining? NINA, I LOVE YOU, even while you're gone!!!

  • @FloeticSoulSista, sure is

  • common speaks the real. i feel if we had about 20 of him the radio would play it.

come on men. can you really call yourself men? 20 people. 20. this could be you just like it could be your friend. Believe in yourself like you believe this music. do you ever hear a line and think, "i relate to that". now imagine this song. you relate to the whole damn thing nearly. bring fantasy a reality men. lets make rap great again.

thats all i have to say. YOU change it.

  • @00stealthy Soo true the radio jus plays wha people wanna hear and the majority are content with the materialistic hip hop

  • @barris1024 hahahahah

  • @barris1024 Hell yea

  • This is so fucking real! One of the greatest on one of da sickest beats! Pure illshit!

  • Common's Version > Lil Wayne's Version

  • @tav0012 Nina Simone`s version > Common`s version > Lil wayne`s version.

  • @tav0012 No. Common's Version >>>>>>>> Lil' Wayne's Version

  • @tav0012 agreed

  • MF DOOM Common Mos Def Talib Kweli Nas Quasimoto (Madlib) The Roots Pharoahe Monch And newer stuff like: Kendrick Lamar Jay Electronica Blu Earl Sweatshirt Sir Michael Rocks Ab-Soul Shad
  • @GraydonRobb what about drake?

  • @GraydonRobb J. Cole ??

  • @AJBAM6 Noo haha

  • Comment removed

  • @PattParker no. definitely not Mac Miller lol.

  • @PattParker Ya wtf dont ruin my list, the only people i forgot is Madchild and Danny Brown

  • @GraydonRobb Love everything about that list...EVERYTHING

  • @GraydonRobb wow i just learned all these new great musicians. thanks!!!

  • @talizzlee No problem!

  • @GraydonRobb Jay-Z, Kanye & Lupe Fiasco belong on that list

  • Honestly instead of commenting how much you hate the new school music how about you strap a bomb to urself and change it or better yet stfu and stop restating obvious things

  • Common murdered it hands down. I can careless about lil wayne i mean only because his big dont mean shit!! There's a lot of mc's out there that deserve credit and common is one of them!!

  • i like common's version a bit better than wayne's its deeper

  • Common is a genius and Devo Springsteen made a masterpiece with this beat.

  • B.I.G

    Big Pun

    Tupac(2pac)

    jay-z

    nas

    common

    lupe

    eminem All Time Greatest

lil wayne is ok but but not that great

  • 606 people are misunderstood by 6 people

  • ''He knew the President wadn't addressin him

Though dead presidents was addressing him'' real talk. Applies to 90% of who listen to rap. We relate more to rappers than Presidents.

  • huh.. I didnt kno he got his from this. Im kinda P.O'd at Dwayne Carter now

  • amazing

  • jay z b.o.b and eminem are sellouts. replace them with vinnie paz immortal techinique j cole cassidy papoose... the list goes on

  • @boldcrazyman how u figure they sell-outs? If anybody, I guess I can kinda see JayZ but still, how u come to that conclusion?

  • @ThaRaynMan well eminems music has changed. Only a couple of his new songs are decent. and b.o.b is never consistant with me, sometimes i think to myself damn he's got skill and then other times i cant stand him

  • I love common :) this song is too dopee ! <3

  • Im sorry I just cant related to lilwayne thats for little kids, I need more substance in my music. If you decide to listen to lilwayne thats good, Im grown up from all that nonsense he's talking about. Sorry I don't like killing babies, eating sushi or sleeping around 10 women gross.

  • @vljones45014 I'm no Lil Wayne fan either, I think the guy's music is trash, but if you hear his version of this song (not really a version of the song, you know what I mean) you'd realize it's far from being "for little kids". It's actually one of the few times Wayne has some substance to his lyrics, and the rant he goes on afterwards shows he has more intelligence that I'd like to admit. Talking about the prison industrial complex and closing with a "Fuck Al Sharpton" is not "for little kids"

  • Common is deep I love the way he used nina simone beat and vocalist throughout the song. He is a very brilliant raper or lyricist. He beyond just being another commercial hip hop artist he take it to another level. I like the way he put his lyrics together always talk about the struggles.

  • So nobody sings like Nina, wasn't crazy about hearing ANYONE taking on one of hers, but the mystery now is how Common can ADD soul to this cut and make somethin new

  • dont forget Lauryn Hill

  • If you like artists like Lupe Fiasco, Mos Def, Nas, and J. Cole, I think you'll like my music too. Check out my singles “Microphone” and “Rhythm & Poetry” (feat. Diem and eKZ), and tell me what you think. Any feedback is appreciated. I promise I don't disappoint.

  • Lonnie is my manz! i love this<3

  • I love this version and the original version by The Animals.

  • Having heard both versions of this song I find that I like both equally one from a young persons perspective on life and the ills that he sees and one from an older persons perspective and his take on life as it really is with no point to prove thank you for the post !

  • Power Punches!

  • I mean honestly i cant say which version is better, but i can say that i like wayne's version. It's my personal opinion, and common spits im just not feeling this version more than waynes.

  • 7 motherfuckers got it misunderstood son!

  • lil wayne didn't talk about cars, bitches and money in his version of this song?!oh my god is he really that missunderstood ? listen to them lyrics man !

  • people should stop augring about nothing everyone has different opinons about different rapper though out the genarations you can not make the aurguement over the genarations you can say you are the best of your time but not of all time rapper rap about what then see what their have at a certain time in their life when you broke you rap about broke shit when you come up you rap about

  • @bigmarc5689 I see what you're saying. And to be honest, I think Wayne can spit WHEN HE REALLY WANTS TO. But the thing about most radio emcees, is that they stay in there box, as where other cats, who might be broke, don't just rap about broke things, you know? A lot of them with come up with some of the most creative premises for songs, and I think that's dope. I'm not an asshole though, so I'm always willing to give credit where credit is do... So with that said... Lookin' Boy was the shit.

  • so smooth, have a listen too kulu change of heart video on youtube. Album no rider out i tunes now!!!

  • 7 dislikes...don't worry theres a special place reserved in hell for people who fail to find the common.

for the rest of you...god speed, thumbs up and an eye wink ;D

  • THIS SONG IS MADE FOR US AFRICANS LIVEN THIS STRUGGLE..... THIS THAT REAL SHIT....

  • I first heard this song the day Fox News went after Common for visiting the White House and he being a "controversial rapper."

  • This is Hiphop too, it's not just bitches and money.

  • @borispeters4 all you needed to say was the first 3 words

  • @borispeters4 ur an idiot this is not "hiphop too" it is hip-hop. that hoes and money talk is not hip-hop. and for so many people to agree with you is sad cause it shoes they dont know what hip-hop is. smh

  • @SkoopzDaGod sorry man but Kanye didnt produce this track either, its Devo.... But Kanye West does produce alot of Commons stuff. but not this one :D I just used Common because barely anyone knows the producers hahahaha but yeah Kanye did practically all of "BE".

  • @Drspoots REAAALLLY?! Whooa, I learned something today. All these years I thought Ye did that track... Eh I'm not that distraught, cuz he DID produce a lot of my favorite tracks on the album (U Black Maybe & The People in particular). Thanks though. I wouldn't have wanted to die uninformed!

  • common's music is and allways will remain immortal

  • well said drspoots and mrjay.

  • OMG this is such shit!

  • @bradz123456 Better than that country crap on your channel. Another fox noise minion.

  • @Crayolakid1 : Again you fail! You negros keep listening to anti American garbage, hopefully soon the draft will be reinstated and you will learn about country!

  • @bradz123456 First of all how "again" when that was my first comment to you. Second how is this anti American?

  • whats the sample??

  • This is a classic, towards the that "The life we live..... we all need Jesus....." its vitalizing

  • I'll give it to Wayne- he actually said something meaningful and he called out America targeting blacks, the prison system, and Al Sharpton's punk ass. These are things Common or Mos Def or Kweli would talk about and I do appreciate that. But Common was next level realness on this track. Both excellent songs streaming rivers of consciousness, and both get played in my whip.

  • great song. love the sample (def better than wayne's)

  • "At first strippin seemed so empowerin, every girl wanna do it now and then,

But being meat everyday is devourin"

That line always gets me. That meat line is so clever, and so true!

  • @lolokaccount :Have you ever attended school?

  • @oorrjjaann thanks for letting me hear this song

  • best money i ever spent on an album

  • lil waynes version aint got nothing on this lol not even close

  • Check the misunderstood by Drapht - He flipped the sample in a different and more of a banger way

  • dear lord, heavenly father, thank you for these dope ass beats and sizzlin' sayin's, they're so good they got me back down on my knees n prayin', keep the Hip-Hop alive mofo!...

    ...amen.

  • Classic album.

  • Sorry don’t mean to bother but check out these songs on youtube:

    JayL - CloudCity (ft. Punchline)

JayL- GOONZ (Goon to a goblin)

  • commons beats are the illest

  • I like the original version the most but Common's version comes 2nd.

  • this is audio ambien. so damn bland and boring.

  • 6 people dont know what they saying

  • who produced this beat?

  • @mellohwan Devo Springsteen

  • common livin legend this is real hip hop theres very few artists making real music like this.i hate wen people say lil wayne is the best cuz its an insult i grew up listen to hip hop wen i see the past mcs and now look at today rappers.today rappers are wack and cant be compared to common nas jayz lupe fiasco .comparing common to lil wayne is like comparing eminem to justin bieber .common could run circles round lil wayne in his sleep .

  • the hip hop greats keeping it real for the people.

    common

    nas

    mos def

    talib kweli

    eminem

    jay z

    b.o.b

fuck lil wayne and nicki minaj there wack they dont care for hip hop they care more about making money off of hip hop than writing music from the heart that people can forever relate to.these young punks fucking up hip hop cud learn a thing or two from common bout keepin real and writing real lyric's with meanin and heart felt that u relate. not this bubble gum shit u hear on the radio

  • @MrJjay1979 like how to spell could

  • @MrJjay1979 take out jay-z and you have a good list

  • @MrJjay1979 B.O.B suck dick.

  • @MrJjay1979 b.o.b wentpop. em sold out more than anyone u could mention, mos defs an idiot, talib kweli is overrated and a hyprcrite and nas has been on the same bullshit since 2000. do u know how much these people care about you, they dnt realy, offer talib kweli a million bucks to shit on u and he probably would.

  • @MrJjay1979 u're right. Maybe when you are dancing in the club you don't realice wath's behind that kind of music. Common belong to a very little group of hopers that make real music.

  • @MrJjay1979 you forgot Lupe Fiasco, Jay Electronica and Blu. How did B.O.B make it? Hes a great? -___-

  • @MrJjay1979 please never put b.o.b in a lost of greats.

  • @isthatchuck my thoughts exactly

  • @MrJjay1979 take jay and bob out and your golden

  • @MrJjay1979 yo elzhi dude i love elzhi

  • @MrJjay1979 idiot, jay z wtf

  • @MrJjay1979 i was with you until you dropped B.O.B.

  • @MrJjay1979 too bad its too late to add j. cole.. he deff deserves to be on the list

  • This man is truly amazing

  • I LOVE NINA + COMMON + WAYNE !!!!!!!

  • @MrJjay1979 i fully agree I'm only 18 but i know good music i listen to alotta old school cats as well....this rap is way deep n versatile it can relate to women n men. Now this is an artist...its not just about rhyming which he also does but bein able to put the rhyme together n to have meaning behind it....Wayne's version is pointless, arrogant, n wack....common killed it.

  • great emcee's are few and far between.common is one who keeps puttin in work.lil wayne just floods the market with his music.his publishing gets him notice.that's why you listen to him.KNOW YOUR HIPHOP HISTORY.If all you have is lil wayne, then your pool of music knowledge is on the shallow end.Breathe Deep homie..

  • This is a dope song, I love this whole album. I love Comman and I am up in age. Truth is always truth, no matter when or how.

  • the last two lines of each verse are the best

  • Common is my favorite artist and this one definitly dug in to my soul. Hardest tracks of all time. Thank you brotha. " 'cause we are misunderstood. The life we lead will always lead us, and we prey that He, will never leave us, its the price we pay, I guess that's the reason grandma say we all need JESUS...." Wayne could never make this track this personal and relevant. No dis to Wayne, but Com was on some Middle Passage Sh#t when he wrote this one.

  • stupid asss wayne jaust had to take this beat. fuck that shit.

  • 6 people simply have no soul.

  • best hip hop, common .

  • God Bless Hip Hop

  • you know i noticed something, nobody has any problem at all on criticizing the new skool like lil wayne and i completely agrees that he sucks but i've seen nobody support some new upcoming rappers who really show some promise, J Cole, B.o.B and Lupe Fiasco?

    show them some love

  • @johnymorez bro lupe has been around for quite some time now

  • @johnymorez i agree with you completely, but lupe isnt exactly new

  • @dim4lol really? my bad

i just i haven't heard a lot of stuff from him yet and sometimes he's a feature artist with bob and cole

thx for pointing it out :)

  • @johnymorez yeah hes been around for a while, has some of the best lyrics if u ask me
