@TheBrokeMission Oh i know you didn't. Slug in this shit pushed his limits with his music and proved that he was on the same level. you honestly made me puke when i read your comment. considering he WAS A FOUNDING MEMBER.
Dose One's verse is strait up poetry, you just gotta listen closely to the words and understand what he's talking about. Rather than simply not getting it and just getting by with saying "he's on mass hallucinogens".
I rap with Dose one he is one of my freestyle teachers and well he is actually a really funny down to earth guy in reality when he is rapping he is very abstract and overly eccentric I personally enjoy his freestyles more, but he is not weird accept with his writtens lol.
I am absolutely enamored with this album. Probably the most vivid atmosphere of any album I've ever listened to. It's like a tour through a lucid dream, intensely symbolic, terrifying, mystifying, perplexing, creative. It's art, a work of true genius.
lol okay.. I know they burn the herb and all but I personally don't consider it a hallucinogen or use it as such. (that is if weed is what you were referring to)
@yourcouchisbleeding MESCALINE and possibly mushrooms and other shit but you can tell.. they talkin bout life and shit and weird shit in and deep thoughts, listen to the theme song and june 1998 and a few others, in this song.. dude said the furniture came to greet him and every thing is better lol
Obviously he's providing a contrast in style. When he's rhyming solo he flips his style more. Guy has more breath control and flava than like 99.5% out of a 100 rappers.
i could call myself a classical opera singer an then speak the words then when people say "WTF" i could just say it was a contrast in style an i have more "flava" than all other opera singers
I think it would be a subjective opinion. I'll take the mate to mean your not American and think there are cultural differences relative to geography and lack of relative knowledge provided by being embedded in the culture. I know you''ll say Americans are shit until someone invades your country and all but that's life...
haha i'm not particularly interested in discussing america's Imperialiastic and conservative foreign policy (if America's presidents an military generals were tried under the same laws they tried the nazi's they'd be hung for war crimes btw)
i think you raise a good point about culture though but when someone dosen't technically rap just speaks into the mike i dont think culture comes into the equation when discussing whether they can rap
Gil Scott Heron, Gylan Kain, Felipe Luciano, the Last Poets, the Watts Prophets were "rapping" in the 60s and 70s before Hip Hop became defined as a distinct culture. Before rap music existed when you rapped in music you were breaking from the melody and speaking to the audience. If you look in any dictionary talking is always an alternate definition of rapping.
PS that American president thing is taught in high school over here. It's cute though. Apathy's the rule here.
He has a more percussive vocal approach on his solo shit is what I'm saying. Check it out and stop coming to this page if you don't like the music. I've fucking seen Biggie Smalls play live when I was 10 and fucking marked shit up with spray paint, and am selling electronic and hip hop instrumentals plus organize in the hip hop community so I fucking have been a little bit more closer to the shit than yourself I'm sure to say. So fuck off kid!
out of all the hip hop fans I know, only a small few of them wouldn't consider dose's rhymes as "rap."
innovation is the name of the underground hip hop game, and experimentation in styles is vital, is it not? unless you can define some sort of pure "traditional"/definitive form of rap for me, I'll just assume you're talking out your ass.
Wrong on all counts. Have you heard him battle? All of these guys are battle MCs, just like Sage. They have their own styles and rhythms, but when it's time to battle they flow mostly on the 1 2 1 2 bar set up.
They could all rap like your average MC, but why would they? That goes against the whole precept of Hip Hop being all about originality.
@takeahint123 doseone brings so much to that group, a new slant, a contrast to the others. They're a psy hiphop outfit and doseone has one of the weirdest, surreal flows out their and the lyrics he brought to every song were mental. DPD would be like anyother hiphop crew without him
DOOOSEEE ONE is amazingly wakk(when it comes to how he raps) but i love his style and his style once you think about it takes alot of talent so hes alot better then others
dose one is the most talented in dpd. i love alias sole and slug alot but dose makes amazing beats and has expanded his experimental hip hop style of music beyond most, thats why he only performs with few people.
When I was homeless like ten years ago this was my shit!
Thanks for putting it up I didn't know the name of the group just knew slug was in it
