exactly why im using a sony hvl f58am flash unit. no offence to the other makes of flashes out there but i think this sony flash wins hands down in indoor flash. with the bounce card, it gives a great white spot to the eye pupil w/o casting shadows on the subject.
Great Informations! I have been shooting with bounce light, but to people. sometime defuser some time a small white cardboard, but i never pay attention at that! Thanks again Dom!
I think most photogs think that a diffusion dome is like a small softbox, and will make shadows less harsh, but they don't! (That's in one of your prev videos). They have almost the same frontal area as a naked flash, so won't do anything for your shadows. They will cover a wider area, so if your lens is shorter than 28mm equiv you need one, but that's about it. That hurts bounce flash, as shown in this shot, it sends light forward when you just want to bounce.
LOOOVE these vids, always so informative. Haha "throw this boy off, throw him away" but it's a little hard for me to do, since it's easily the most expensive piece of plastic I will ever own!
A. it allows my gel filters to 'fill' out the cavity of the dome and maintain a distance of a few centimeters away from the flash bulb; they don't melt even on the highest setting.
Very useful tip. Makes perfect sense now. Thank you!

When do you need to use the the 'white card' out of your flash?

@135Weird531
use it when you want to bounce your flash on the ceiling ...
that will get rid of the so famous **RACCOON EYES** on people ;)

I use one because
A. it allows my gel filters to 'fill' out the cavity of the dome and maintain a distance of a few centimeters away from the flash bulb; they don't melt even on the highest setting.
B. I got it for CHEAP!
C. It somewhat protects the flash

I use the diffusion dome just to protect the glass of the flash

i don't even have those dome diffusers, cause they are in general pointless...
If you objective is not to send the light in all directions...
Gay ary fongs are such a stupid thing.... (also gay)
