  • i saw more tutorials and the ppl were drawing stright lines and i wannted to know what are they pressing to make them :D if u coud tell me :D pls?

  • @WaterColooor I wish to know this too...

  • May I ask how you managed to erase all the colors that went outside the lines automatically? ;w;

  • @LoveIipop I can't remember but I think I selected the entire outside area with magic wand and made a layermask for it.

  • >:I I vow to be good enough to do something like this one day!!! >n<

  • @shilinTV ahh~ thank u for the reply!

*off to go try and make pretty lineart*

  • First off- you, my dear, are amazing

Secondly- do you color the lineart at the end, like after all the shading, etc, is done? If so, how do you go about that (like what colors? Sorry, im so unspecific)Thanks so much~

  • @Twiliwings if you're asking for specific colours, then it's hard to answer because they all depend on the colours surrounding the lines. colouring lines green when you're painting a fiery sunset scene wouldn't make sense, for example. youll just have to ask yourself what looks right and try out various colours. (or learn colour theory/lighting and find out the correct answer)

  • What are you brush settings in Sai? Do you use a Smoothing?

  • @theflamepriestess I only use pencil (pen?) on sai and I only line on sai. colouring is done in photoshop

  • how did u make to draw the lines stright? :D what did u press?

  • @WaterColooor iirc there are no straight lines in this drawing ):? but you can use line tool if you want to draw a straight line as if you used a ruler

  • What brushes did you use for coloring, and what tool did you use for the lineart in sai please? (:

  • @MyWoou the first few default circle brushes in photoshop for colouring, and pen (pencil?) in sai ^^

  • I've got such a long way to go

  • 10 hours? *__*

    Awesome :3 I love it

  • Ur sketch at the beginning still looked better than my pictures o.o

  • What Brushes did u use for coloring plz..??

  • Your process is amazing.

The outcome of it was beautiful! I enjoyed watching this a lot! *U*

  • i cant even draw a circle..

  • I LAUGHED SO HARD AT THE BEGINNING! -falls- lololol

  • @GlowInTheDarkSponge : You can install and partition a portion of your Macs memory for windows so that you can install and use SAI. I haven't personally done it, but as soon as I have the money for a Windows OS disk I plan to so I can get SAI and play Guild Wars.

  • Oh gosh, I used to follow you on DeviantArt ages ago, I'm so glad I found your channel "by accident" browsing related videos :D

  • you paint fully coolllllllllll

  • Hello I like your picture! It's like saying a masterpiece! Could you tell me the program and whether it is free and English? I like to subscribe to your channel! I would of course be very happy if it is free and English Well send me a private message Thank you Best regards love Lena.

  • @LenaPopix3 these programs are not free. SAI is more affordable though (:

  • @shilinTV how much it cost to actually? So I'm really German Where did you get this program? ; D

  • @LenaPopix3 you can find those answers on google ^^

  • I'm glad you have your own website. This is fantastic.

  • Jesus! What's the resolution on that monster?

  • @grauetakaka 5100x3300

  • SOOOO GOODDD!!

  • since did you start drawing and colouring? who did you learn from?? *curiosity*

  • @KimSooYun94 I draw for fun since I was small. I am self taught

  • i watched this while listening to Franz Schubert's Swan Song (okay... it's classical, and it's unusual to combine this vid with that song :)))) ) but it turned out to be great! makes the atmosphere feel like "oh, I am watching a masterpiece!" :D

  • you made me wanna draw again! it's been years! :))

i wonder ... how did you make the laces? i want to learn :)

and, i wonder, where can i get SAI? how much is it?

    thank yoouuuu :*

  • Silent video owned.

  • Please make me that dress =w= (in eternal bliss)

  • Ö I love it!!! What did you use for doing the lines? :)

  • @16maialen brush in sai

  • I'm kinda scared because I was watching this while listening to Twilight Homicide by MEIKO.... But great work, my imagination's just getting to me :)

  • I found this video extremely discouraging, but also very beautiful. It also helped seeing how 'awful' it looked at the start, and how 'amazing' by the end. I say this because when I start drawing it always looks 'awful' to me, so I just give up. Maybe I should just try to keep going and see what happens...

  • lwqdfnjkQ

ARGH.. this makes me sad T^T i'm such a noob!!

why cant i have your talent?~!?~?~?

  • Dammiiiittt I thought you were going to do it all in photoshop then you switched to SAI. STUPID MAC >:(

  • @GlowInTheDarkSponge Only the line art was done in sai, which I can do in photoshop without most people noticing the difference. It just saves a lot of time, that's all!

  • @GlowInTheDarkSponge

    bebluetoo.deviantart(dot)com/art/PaintTool-SAI-for-Mac-0-3-148646344

  • HOW DO YOU MAKE SUCH BEAUTIMAS LINE ART!! YOU MUST TELL ME YOUR SECRET!! My line art comes out so crappy it makes me want to cry!

  • Just out of curiosity what size canvas are you working on in this?

  • @InsanitySilver 11x17" 300 dpi (:

  • i have this image in my desktop XD, Great job

  • I worship ur art you are an amazing artist and you inspire me to advance further in my art. so cool (O n///o\\\n O)

  • I was completely mesmerized by the music bar at the bottom @v@ but really, this is an amazing piece, your style is adorable! (Btw "Dream fighter" by Perfume is a decent music match ^>^)

  • holy cow! 10 hours!!!!! :O this is absolutely astounding just a btw fact! :D <3 i love it! do you have DA ?

  • @Smiley737Face yes, it's linked in the description (:

  • wow fking BS, wish i had a bit of that telant sighs* world is soooo unfair on me TT_TT

  • i'm envy~

  • Hello there, I love your time lapse videos and was wondering what your general process was for speeding up your clips and rendering. I'm an artist myself, and I am having headaches of trouble rendering time lapses. I notice you have around 10 hours worth of footage, what program do you use to create your time lapses and how long are your render times generally? Because I myself am facing render times that are hours and hours long.

Thanks so much! And I love your work.

  • @x1Nessax These are all livestream videos. I draw them live before an audience and then take the recordings to speed them up in camtasia. Render times are indeed hours long for me too, I usually finish editing and leave it on overnight to render.

  • zoomy goodness o_o i'm impressed x_x

  • I was about to commend you on your taste in music until I realised... I chose it... lol ANYWAY! fantastic speed drawing :3 you earned yourself a subcriber :D woo~

  • It's kinda fun watching you drawing and chatting at the same time...

And the fast-forwarded winamp player too :P lol good job anyway!

  • You are a god *___*

  • Hey, can I borrow your skills for a sec?

  • :megusta:

  • drawing like a baws *___*

  • this was amazing! I'm speechless... *_*

  • Comment removed

  • um, how to add the texture anyway?

    :)

  • @orangexhimawari uhhh I didn't use any textures lol

  • @shilinTV how come you change drawing programs?

are you going to make any teaching videos? ^^

  • @lolsa123 I dont like drawing lines in photoshop, so I draw them in sai

  • @shilinTV what are you doing in photoshop then? :o colloring?

  • @lolsa123 everything else lol, the entire drawing was done start to finish on this video, you can see what I do on which program.

  • @shilinTV you did like everything in photoshop :P, when are you going to make a new video? :3

  • when you do your lineart on a 5100x3300 canvas, do you also colour on the same resolution or do you resize the lineart and then colour it?

i've been following you for a long time and you've become so much better! its amazing!

  • @tsure I colour/draw lines in the same dimensions ^^

  • WOW this is amaizing x3!

  • Wow, just wow. o: I get really inspired by looking at this!<3

  • ... u talented fuck, excuse my french.

U make me want to give up on art

  • homg!!! its rare to find an amazing artist that u saw on da on youtube without searching!!! O_O

  • This video is exploding with awesomeness. I love it. I hope I can be as good as you one day, because this is just breathtaking.

  • Seriously this is amazing...

I just wanna ask you 2 questions,

    1) How do you layer your lineart

    2) Hows do you merge your lineart with the colours

  • @exoddinary I usually do all lineart in one layer and colour on another layer under it. I don't merge the layers until I have to save the image as a jpg for web view.

  • @shilinTV thanks for the reply :)

  • ;v; AW man Shilin you are such a big inspiration to me, watching this all come to life, I've actually felt like I learned so much. ;v; (Wish I couldve seen you paint the face though!)

    I love how well you understand the needed simplicity in coloring with anime art. It's crazy detailed but you don't overdo it, and I really admire that. ;v;

  • Before people say they cannot this quality of art there are many things I learnt from this video that people should realise. One is that rough sketching is important, up until 2:00 the lines were really rough, and even thought it looks bad, the purpose is to create form and get the proportions looking right. Second is that its best to look at real life, to get the lighting right to make it look real, even great artists need inspiration. The last this is that patience this took 10 hours! GREAT!

  • if i ever get this good >.< your great tho love the work

  • To all others: You can make your own brush in photoshop similar to the one in SAI. Just take the hard, default brush and go to the pencil preferences. Click on all "Pen Pressure" = Voila! In my opinion, on print it looks better with photoshop, than with SAI. But it's just my opinion, it's not a fact :)

  • SO PRO....

  • nice technique you share here! AND it's only 1layer?? Cmon you're an example of world's unfairness =_=""

  • @futarinokizuna how is this only one layer

    LOL

CAN YOU NOT SEE HOW MANY LAYERS SHE HAS?

  • @Qpillowcase oops.. I commented on wrong video, sorry. (I watched on multiple tabs >.<)

  • Ur da kind of person I envy, but

but i dun not repsect u

    i just envy u

    no hard feelings?

    D:

  • i just got PWNED

  • magnifica!!!

  • Also what are the sizes of this? And res?

  • Would you recommend Sai or Photoshop for drawing and colouring, and if sai, is it easy to get used to? I mean, is it like photoshop?

  • @FreakyBow image detail is in the description. I don't know how to colour with sai so I have no opinion to offer, try it yourself because I can't use anything aside from photoshop and I know many people who can use anything but photoshop

  • @shilinTV Thx for replying, and I guess you draw the sketch on photoshop as shown here, but you ink it on sai, why? An apparent reason? is it easier to configure or to paint with?

  • @FreakyBow it draws smoother lines

  • woooahh you're only using the regular pen tool on sai and your lineart is already so clean!~ O ^ O

  • I just love your intros. :3

  • May I ask what brush you were using? been trying to achieve this style but I don't know what brush to use >_>...

  • @Chrizo12 default round brush

  • @shilinTV Oh wow, guess I have to spend more time playing around with it then. Thanks for the reply!

  • Remarkable, I admire your abilities.

  • Is Sai free?

  • @Quejira no

  • @shilinTV darn

  • In SAI, does your pen tool have auto-pressure points? Or do you need to adjust them (from the tools)?

What tool to u use for Lineart? Normal pen tool or Curve tool

  • @XiiaoBabyBluex I don't know what auto pressure points are. I just use the regular pen tool in sai, and default brushes in photoshop.

  • @shilinTV Pressure points upon pressing onto tablet? :O

hmm... Then do u use the pressure tool ?

  • @XiiaoBabyBluex all tablets are pressure sensitive, so of course anyone using a tablet to paint will make use of that

  • @shilinTV sad to say, im using a tablet but i do not have that pressure sensetivity function. I'm using Genius tablet slim series.

  • Do you find it easier to do the lineart in Sai then in PS? Ive only been able to glimpse sai for a bit on a free tutorial but do you recommend it as a must have? I know several artist that say they use Sai and just like turn out some amazing work, which of course is probably due to them just being generally amazing, but does Sai make it easier?

  • @ForestSen it's a lot smoother than photoshop, so if that's the effect you like then yes, it is easier. most people would agree, but personally I don't like it, that's why I colour with photoshop even after I got sai. I wouldn't name any program as a must-have, as long as you got a program that at least some number of people think is acceptable (like open canvas for example) all you have to do is learn to use it and learn to appreciate it.

  • really amazing! could you do a tutorial about you techniques about using photoshop and SAI at the same time?i just saw you deviantart account and you really are an awesome painter, i dont know how do make backgrounds such as waters and such but i still havent seen a tut for it. i would be very greatful,i still don't know much about digital coloring/painting. ^^"

  • @snjorRefur948 this is itself as much as close to a tutorial as it gets, and there are many more tutorials on google that's very useful

  • Comment removed

  • it's amazing!!

would u plz tell me that what's the brush u use at photo shop?your own setting ?

  • Holy Shit! It´s amazing work!

  • @PiyoLayLayChan It's one of the default round brushes. I don't change their settings, I just turn on their size pressure sensitivity

  • what program did you used??

  • @ThePredatorAC1 it's listed in the video and in the description

  • love the colors

  • May i ask what is your settings for the lineart ?

  • @mkaygrizzly 4px pen tool in sai on 5100x3300px canvas ^^

  • @shilinTV Thanks a lot + love your artwork :3

  • Wow this is so amazing! I feel like crying now. ;3; Makes me want to give up on digital art completely. orz lol'

  • be my teacher please. you are the master!

  • gooooooooooooood,, y everyone could make laces easily @__@

i couldnt even find tutorial to make them...

mind if u giving some tutorial how to make laces? @__@

  • @mayoniizu I actually don it poorly so I'd like to suggest my friend's tutorial instead (: her DA username is negshin, you can find it in her gallery called "realistic lace tutorial" ^^

  • what tool do u use in coloring the hair and the skin?

  • @Erikax23 the same brush I used to draw the rest of the picture (:

  • :O how many years did it take you to draw like that?

  • @dragonflyinhaven too long haha;;; I had a tablet for 11 years

  • Bah! Screw this! I'll just subscribe. <3

  • Man I have cs5 and I can't color nearly as well as you do here ;A;

  • @shilinTV may i ask what is your canvas size?

  • @cabbagetabel usually 5100x3300 (11x17 at 300 dpi)

  • NVM don't answer my Question!

  • WOW AMAZING! but i have a Q. how long did it take you to do this incridible work?

  • wait a sec, was that a kyubei dp? XD

  • @WhiteSunflower MAYBE....

  • after watching this video i have a question... how can you change colours while drawing so fast and without any pallete?.. this would make painting so much easier for me and many others, i guess ^^

  • @tinangelnyo266 alt is the shortcut fore yedrop (:

  • @tinangelnyo266 To switch to a color already on the canvas, hold down the Alt key when you click the color.

  • I loved how the intro had a person being drawn then got hit by a ball xD classic

  • amazing !! ♥♥

  • these are very cool. subbed

  • Beautiful, as always. ^w^

  • this is how i wanna draw like !

are you going to do a tutorial ?

    : )

  • ......so jealous so very very jealous......but yet so very very cool.....-stalks you-

  • K thanks for taking your time to stop by and respond to my question!

  • Do you know any free screen recording devices for windows? Also the video you filmed on Livestream can it be saved as an AVI file or whatever the file used to movie edit?

  • @PiggyBlackWhite I think any you can find on google is fine. Livestream Procaster can be set to save the recording on your computer, you just have to remember to turn that setting on before you start recording.

  • This is just amazing O.O You're an great artist! And you just do this on the computer? Wonderful! Just wonderful! I hope to draw as well as you someday! ^_^ Keep up the amazing work!

  • how to produce such a neat line?? QAQ... <<< always have a problem with neat lines...

and how can yo color them so neat?? QAQ...

  • @DeJinZz draw slower ^^

  • What is it about PS that you choose to color in it than SAI? I personally like the feel of SAI better but I can't mimic the kind of shading I like, such as you and Nuriko-kun @ dA.

  • @AuretaAurie if you prefer SAI then by all means use it, I'm just used to the way photoshop acts because I've used it for so long; I don't like SAI because of its smoothness and how well it blends compared to photoshop, it's hard to create certain textures (that or I'm not used to it yet). I also know basically every shortcut I need to know on photoshop whereas on SAI I still need to find stuff, so it's just all a matter of preference/laziness ^^

  • Why do you prefer to color in PS instead of SAI? Just wondering... I like the smoothness and easy to use interface of SAI better but it seems that all the amazing drawings are always in PS.

  • Did you sit through 10 hours at one go to finish this?

  • @Pandora3Hearts no. I did it in 2 parts, beginning-finished lineart in 1 day, and the rest in the next.

  • Hold the phone. I was okay until you got to the lace bit and then I was lost. How did you make that?

  • @sockstealingnome I drew one petal, then copy/pasted it and rotated/free transformed it to form the pattern

  • The one guy who disliked this is just jealous.

  • @LamunesKI Then he cloned himself and disliked it agian

  • LOL you searched up daisy and Pricncess Daisy from mario popped up 3:45
