  • is this a capcom game? i keep hearing resident evil sound effects

  • I just got this game today. I'm absolutely loving it. It's under-rated nature gives it a certain...prestige. Not everyone knows about it, but it seems the few who do have a very palpable level of pride in completing it. You train constantly. There are no ridiculous quests that run you across a 400km square map to find the(insert object name) of (insert hero name/adjective) This is one of the few games that actually seem feel like the real thing.

  • This game was real fun, my brother always whooped me though. Good memories right here.

  • a cool thing to do with bushido blade style gameplay would be to have a mass scale war, and you be in the middle of it. that would be cool, but because of the chaos of a war maby they should let you wear armor so you dont die super fast

  • does any one know any other kengo games like this as i thought this game was amazing and underated also and iv been wanting a game like it but the newest kengo is only on 360 and other then them 2 there the only kengo games iv heard of aparently you guys are saying bushido blades related?

  • @MegaDragonHero Bushido Blade is similar but not connected to Kengo. i'v been looking for a new game that is similar to Kengo but unfortunately i haven't really found any. If you want to play a good samurai type game i'd recommend playing Way of the Samurai for the ps2. its a great game and will only cost about $15. if you enjoy that game then you should consider playing the third installment for the PS3. i didnt like the 3rd game very much but the first Way of the Samurai is amazing.

  • i like this game alot. probably because i never played the bushido blade series. the only real flaw is that it has almost no features at all. theres only tournament, vs and that bullshit single player which is basically a very long training mode

  • nicely done not getting hit, but trust me on this; the guy you are using for this vid can kill dudes a lot faster.

  • nicely done not getting hit, but trust me; the guy you are using can kill them much faster.

  • Shozaemon Hyuga can kill his opponents in less than 10 seconds. Sometimes less than 5 seconds. I know; I've done it. You need to pick the sword style where the disciple is a guy named Yatsunao, and one handed moves that combine sweeping slashes, and lightning fast transitions from downward to upward strokes. It is also important that the slashes "flow" into each other, like a diving swallow, or falcon.

  • looks like ps1^^

  • Isn't that Sword of the Samurai?

  • It's funny how olders games tend to have better physics and gameplay than the games of this generation

  • Worst fighting game in my opinion.

  • FUCKING PIDGEONS

  • Finally a fighting game I can actually play...no button mashing for unpredictable combos, hooray!!!! :)

  • This game takes up so much storage on the memory card. Fucking piece of shit.

  • I FUCKING LOVED THIS GAME!!!

  • this game was great but not nearly as awsome as the original bushido blade.

but with higclassed characters and healthbar turned off this game was still really nice!

  • Ok I own this game and it's not a gem. It seems like the first projekt of genki and it is not a good game.

  • this game is bad ass im a xbox fan but i bought a ps2 just 4 this game and its the only game i have for ps2

  • This game seems similar to old Barbarian on C64. Am I getting the right impression?

  • I wish they would make another Bushido Blade. I just love that no health bar tactical gameplay they had. Maybe I'm just living in the past.

  • @AzurBlaz You're not the only one living there. I don't really see them ever releasing a BB sequel. In today's modern market, it just wouldn't sell unless they released it as a downloadable game. Fighting games in general are mostly dead except for the main ones (Street Fighter, Tekken, Soul Calibur, Virtua Fighter) this generation of gaming, so something like BB really wouldn't sell. I could see some epic online sword battles if they ever implemented multiplayer with more than just 1on1 tho

  • @teh2Dgamer It would at lease sell 30, 714 copies. ^

  • @teh2Dgamer can u cut off limbs?

  • @teh2Dgamer dont forget kombat and dead or alive

  • @ctalikepeanutbutter dead or alive died already.. )-.:

  • i wish they would make something like this for ps3 ... cause i gave it away as a gift with my ps2 to a friends kid :)

  • I feel like this is justly underrated BECAUSE if the original bushido blade...i was wondering what games you consider the worst games you have played...out of curiosity i mean

  • @brettboulet You know, I don't really focus on the bad. I'm not of the opinion that there are a ton of bad games out there, just a ton of average ones. A lot of games people say are bad are perfectly playable, just not spectacular in any way. If you didn't know there was something better out there, you'd be inclined to like them. For me to really think a game is bad it's gotta be a broken, Glitchy, unplayable mess of a game. Otherwise I'm inclined to rate it as playable, but unspectacular.

  • YES! Been looking for this for ages. Aaah, memories.

  • so calm so silent feels pretty good when there's no annoying music :D

  • I had thie Game a while Back ... I really enjoyed the training Missions Between the tournaments

  • This game is very underrated. Being a martial artist, I can appreciate this game. Sure, it is not completely realistic as far as the life bars and multiple attacks to kill the enemy with a real sword, but it still has its values.

  • Damn, I was hoping that this would be a one hit kill type of game like Bushido Blade. Anyone know of any?

  • i bought this at gamestop yesterday, got home and there was no disc in the case >:(

  • @theplasteredgaul That's why I always check the games after the "competent" employees put them in the cases. Granted, sometimes I still overlook their stupidity like when they put the wrong game in a case, or the right game, but for the wrong system. Like when I bought full spectrum warrior on the PS2, and got the Xbox version instead. I decided to keep it though, because I didn't feel like going back to the store for just that game. I usually check them either in the store, or in my car.

  • @teh2Dgamer then i was bummed because i took it back out to the store and they didn't even have it in stock. My question is if its not in the store why put the case on display?

  • @theplasteredgaul It's because most gamestop employees are too incompetent to even know what they have, or how to look for it. Plus, it's PS2, so they don't care about it.

  • I found this game really dull. Wouldn't recommend it.

  • It's an interesting game, in the mood of Bushido Blade, as I collect PS2 games, but I prefer the lastest one: Kengo 3, improved graphics and simplified fighting system :)

  • this game is good if your into Musashi Miyamoto's The Book Of Five Rings, for me; it's the first book i ever bought =)

  • Ärgert es euch und Freunden nicht, dass manche Personen Monat für Monat soviel Geld verdienen wie ein Arbeiter jährlich? • This was a good game, period.

  • this is a lame version of bushido blade. life bars = lame. instant kills = manly.

  • Lol I can imagine a remake where one hit and you're dead.

  • When you say bushido you mean "one hit kill"(a.k.a Fatal blow). This game sucks...

  • dude you have a fuck load of games!

I wish i had the same!

  • this game sucks ass

  • @paramatar13 Go play Criticom, and tell me how bad this game is.

  • @teh2Dgamer They both suck ass man Lol

  • I asked for Vice City for Xmas of 2002 and I got this doo doo game instead!!!

  • I find it unfair that the game gets compared to Bushido Blade so much. I get its the spiritual successor, but thats as far as it goes. The game is of its own unique series, with completely different gameplay elements. With that said, im not the biggest fan of this game. It has great ideas, but the controls and camera can be a pain. Same with the lack of impact in the game ( It never really felt like you were getting hits in). At least those problems were more or less fixed by the third one

  • @TheNoname9889 Taken from wiki: Due to disagreements between Squaresoft and the games' developer, Light Weight, the series ended abruptly with this game, despite the fact that this game's ending left open the possibility of a sequel. Light Weight would later use the same game engine in the Kengo series."

It's only natural that the two get compared. Kengo is essentially a watered down version of Bushido Blade.

  • Dude, you have shown me sooo many samurai games that i thought didn't exist. Thanks so much.

  • well sice im collecting ps2 games that are intersting to me maybe i might get this one last but this doesnt look as good as way of the samuria or way of the samur 2 or you could get into tenchu

  • @Juanaug22 This one is just a fighting game whereas Way of the Samurai is an action game. They have completely different setups.

  • My first ps2 game ever. And I still got it ^_^.

  • You know what was an amazing game? Tenchu: Wrath of Heaven

  • is the controls the same as bushido blade? or are there only combos.

  • My cousin has this game. Our favorite thing to do is to get the opponent bleeding and run away from him until his health bar is completely depleted. He'd collapse and we would laugh, especially if the opponent were running around when it happened. Good times, good times.

  • It IS possible to die from one slash but it requires perfect lining up of the attack. This game felt more realistic on that behalf.

  • I have a game which is extremely similar to this, possible a prequel/sequel of this. It's called Sword of the Samurai, and it's also for PS2.

  • @ROYBOT despite inferior graphics and it being an old game series this game sucks compared to BB and BB2

  • I had this game I do agree it was a gem.

Now the series is in ruins.

We never got 2 and 3 yet the fourth game got released on X360 that sucked.

I have played Bushido Blade series now that shit was really good.

  • kengo 3 dude they ruin the franchise this game was amazing and the story mode was is one of the best ive played in the genre you got to enter tournaments go around and challenge other rival dojos and learn there fighting still. then u can incoparate them into your style the level of customization was very high but you probably enjoycrack cocaine at a steady interval if you think kengo 3 is better the original

  • now is this anything like the one on xbox360

  • i used to have this game and dont know anyone else who did . a bit tricky to master all the moves but when you get a good exchange of blows and parrys this is a real blast . i would give it 7/10 but when you get into it 10/10 . nice one teh2dgamer

  • love this game!

  • can tou upload kengo :master of bushido intro ? I couldn't find it on you tube , I'm disappointed :<

  • im looking for a vid of som1 getting the shaku blade and using its focus attack

but i cant find any vid of it.

PS. u get the shaku blade once you get your insight to 9999.

  • Wish it hadn't abandoned the one-hit kill idea of the original.

  • It's not a sequel to Bushido Blade. It took some ideas from Bushido blade, but it took them in a different direction. There is a Bushido Blade 2, and then there are the Kengo's, 1, 2, 3 and then 'zero'

  • i liked how you got to customize your style and moves

i wish the game had at least a shread of story but it was still fun

  • i cant get into this game

  • Well, not every one of my picks will appeal to every gamer. Some people won't appreciate the repetition of the training mini-games in the game.

  • @teh2Dgamer Have you played Ghosthunter?

  • @vfgjhj Not yet. There are still so many games I want to get. My collection is still in progress even though I'm already close to 300 PS2 games.

  • @teh2Dgamer Oooh, you might just might have more PS2 games than me.

  • @teh2Dgamer Wow 300 all I got is around 80 or 90 games. Heres a good pick. Wrath Unleashed. Gladius Shadow Of Rome Spartan Total Warrior Mr. Mosquito Blood Oman 2 Well I have a lot more. I only Remember those because those are the one Im playing right now. But yea Gamestops in the Ghetto are gold mines of all Ps2 games man.
  • thanks for showing me this again... I spent so much time in K3 that I forgot how good K1 was... I cant' find K2 though... I heard it was exception... SADLY Kengo legend of the 9 disappointed so hard.

  • uh oh the switcher has favorited this... that can only mean he's planning to put it in the worst fighting games ever part 2. Although this game wasn't bad and it kicked off the best Samurai game I ever played Kengo 3....

  • Who's the Switcher?

Even if you don't like this game, it's light years away from being even close to included as one of the worst Fighting games off all time. I've played some really bad fighting games in my time (Criticom), and this is far from it.

  • the switcher is a very clever and creative youtuber who takes bad cartoons and games and makes fun of it on his channel check it out sometime. You might've already seen his work "Street Fighter Stupidity exhibition" 1 and 2... Anyways I agree it shouldn't make his list Kengo even Kengo1 was the shit. I loved it. It made a very worth successor to the Bushido Blade series.

  • they need an air rifle for the pigeons on the roof of the dojo!

  • is dis game rlly gud lyk is it better than other fytin games

  • It's got some cool features in it that are worth playing. I'm not sure if you'd find it to be better than other fighting games, but it's definitely got some cool features to it, and is worth a look if the gameplay vid interests you.

  • nys spelingg lul

  • Picked up this game for $4.99 a few days ago. I like the mini-games and the fact that there is no music at all.

  • the only real thing i dont like about the game is the health bar and speacial meter nothing will ever replace bb1 or 2 in fact i think bb needs a come back. also more game swould benefit from not having health bars or at least making them optional and displaying damage in "real tie" so to say like bb did and the UFC 2009. think of tekken or DOA with no health bar and when you do some weird ass grapple crippling your foe sure it would be harder to balance but the idea is worth exploring

  • This game stinks when compared to Bushido Blade and BB2.

Those games had no health bar, one hit kills if you hit something vital and limb damage.

  • It doesn't live up to BB, but it's still a good game in it's own right.

  • @R0YB0T I actually got a number of one hit kills in this game. First slash, right across the neck. Beautiful.

  • @R0YB0T i do preferbushido blade. but i do like the aspect of trainging in thisgame.

  • @R0YB0T This game had 1 hit kills, me and my friends used to call this one character the green demon because he wore green and had this deadly throat level hit that killed or severely wounded :D

  • i like the idea of this game its interesting

  • Much love for this game. It's like a monster raising/training game, but with samurais. It's kind of crappy, but it was an early, early PS2 game. Any developer without their head shoved entirely up their ass could've did something with this.

Way Of The Samurai isn't terrible, but it sure as hell isn't this. Anyone know how Japan's actual sequels are? I've always wondered. This same structure with more customization and a halfway decent story would keep me entertained, easy.

  • wish they would make another Kengo game like this one. The newer one is just crap. Its all cartoony.

  • I just lost this game. Now i dont have it anymore and just cant find it....

That bleeding thing is just awesome...

Now on the Kengo case i have the "Way of the samurai"...

    ...

  • I defeated all 30 of them (including Ikosai)without dying in 5'26.21. I swear! I used Kakuma for this.

  • still working on earning all the moves!!

    I AM UP TO 92%

    who wants a challenge?!

  • Assuming you actually are at 92%, do you remember/can you explain why as of 60% it takes a SUPER long time until you earn another move? It's been at least 50 days of attacking other schools and still no move-drops.

  • I am now at 100%..and all that is required to earn a new move is to notice it.

It took me months to do.

When you enter a dojo, the first four students usually attack with moves already acquired.

-Train with insight and agility for easier parrying and maneuvering. Then challenge the dojo that uses the move you want to gain. Either dodge the first attack in the chain and then attempt to parry, or attack the opponent until they are close to defeat.. and let the attack connect before finishing.

  • Thanks for the reply. I dunno, after [mis] reading this, I boosted my insight thinking that it would help my character notice the new moves (cause I spotted them fine). I picked up 7 new moves after being stuck at 66% for 40 kengodays. Did you turn off your Spirit and Health gauges cause the game seems to be handing em' out easier since I did that.

  • I didn't figure out why the other opponents took so long to show their style.--maybe it has to do with the Fame score.

Insight will help with your parrying..and I think I kept my agility no higher than 5000.(attack power at 4k--attack speed very high--insight higher than 3k--and spirit around 3k.)

A tip you could apply (if your serious about earning moves) is to try out certain characters' forms while in the Tournament..or in two player.

  • Comment removed

  • have you tried to parry it?

  • is ja nice ;) geht mal auf GeileZone punkt com da steht wie man weiber anbaggert

  • bring this to the ps3 and put it online. way of the samurai 3 is garbage.

  • DUDE HOLY GOD I AGREE!! For the longest time till now i thought I had played WOTS but I HADNT. I played this fuckin game.

  • looks difficult to play, how many slices does it take to kill that guy? damn...

  • the combos go in strikes of three, and if you can land the third one clean, it's pretty much over.

  • I suppose I have to content myself with Ninja Gaiden II.......

fuck though its proving hard, don't know if I'll beat it.

  • If you want to get 2 hit kills, pick the sword school where Yatsunao is the disciple you have to defeat; Yatsunao is the dude with the psychotic scream I think. I'm sure you'll figure out what combos to put together.

  • Shoezaemon Hyuga is the guy to play as!

0:05 he's the dude on the left.

  • I really don't see what was up with all the hating on this game; I visited the PS1 games "Bushido Blade," and frankly, even for the era they stunk. When I tried, I was decent but I couldn't get into it.

I understand where people come from though; the elimination of the one hit kills, did hurt this one a little bit but come on, it wasn't a deal breaker!

  • Also, I used to own this game, and after about 2 months I got so good, I could kill guys with only 2 hits. Its not impossible; the timing must be FLAWLESS though. The guy I used was the guy on the left; I used a one handed sword style, forgot its name. The key, is to develop a combo system, where the first stroke moves the sword in a wide arch, while the second stroke is a direct stab. Timed correctly, two hits, and only two hits will do it.

  • Also, in Japan it is illegal to show dismemberment in video games. Now, with the Onimusha series, you are killing monsters, not people, because the game involves people, to accurately depict this would be illegal in Japan.

  • I understand your point, but, although the Japanese Katana is indeed ridiculously sharp, and you can look for youtube vids where it shows bullets being sliced in half, even with that sharpness, you need skill and perfect timing to kill someone with one stroke. In other words the sword's sharpness is not enough, the swordsman himself has to be REALLY, really good, really well trained.

  • The fighting system was innovative and fun in a lot of ways. However the lack of content, variety, pace and the fact that it is supposed to be a successor to an infinitely more immersive series made this game far too shallow to enjoy.

  • Comment removed

  • From your perspective you have a good point. On the other side, tho, if all games of this kind were that realistic not only would the be less fun but also repetitive (every game would take just one or a few hits/strokes/shots/etc to get ridd of any opponent). Then again, since this game has a very realistic roots (mostly by being Bushido Blade's spiritual succesor) it's obvious why someone would find it funny.

  • kengo 2 also has missions i think

  • Its really god for a game as old as it is, Just too bad that my PS2 won't freaking play Blue-Disks anymore <.<

    I WANT MY DEUS EX!

  • oh, this is a fighting game? I thought it was action/adventure.

  • Yep it's a fighting game. If you're looking for a good samurai action adventure game of this type, then look into Way of the Samurai.

  • ok plase i own kango master of bashido

just tell me what the fuck are you ment to do on it

i cant see the point to this game

  • There's the regular fighting mode, and the mode where you build up your character. What's the point of any game?

  • Best game if your are into realistic sword fighting. Too bad the gaming press has the mentality of ugly 12 year olds. If a game doesnt instantly gratify or appeal to the large group of Mountain Dew drinking idiots called gamers, it gets a low score (which translates to low sales and no real sequel).

  • mountain dew is disgusting

  • I've been looking for this game forever. A buddy of mine had it. You do only get one life if you play against a friend. No button mashing in this game. No stupid sequence memorizing impossible to block moves. And if you die in career mode you start over. And it ain't easy.

  • wouldn't say it's underrated - it's kinda repitative and shazaemon is way too imba...;)

besides - I frikkin hate the bird-sound in one of the dojo's - i guess everyone who heard it knows what i mean....

  • Yeah I heard it

  • Fuck yeah!

  • o.O epic combo at 1:00

  • i dont like when people call this the unoffical sequal yes its done by the same devoloper as 2 and has the word bushido ....it lacks the unique health system of bushido blade........i want a game like that again

  • That's why I call it an unofficial, or more a spiritual successor to BB, because they changed a those things.

  • Bushido blade 2 was better

  • Of course, but this is still a good game. They got rid of the one hit kills, but it's still fun to play.

Not as good as Bushido Blade, but still good in it's own right.

  • You are rigth :)

  • Yeah, Bushido Blade 1 & 2 were my favorite games on PS1. Just got Kengo yesterday for $4. Thing about this game, it may be too realistic for some people. Really no music or special effects, just constant repetitive training and dueling, training and dueling. This was pretty much the life of a samurai, training solely for the sake of becoming better. Serious students of the Japanese arts like myself might enjoy this more than the avg teen that just wants to have fun bashing heads.

  • hey is bushido or kendo real difficult because I was going to take taijutsu and jiu jitsu and I walso wanted to learn kendo just for the sake of learnign something new

  • Bushido is not a martial art, but a code of ethics and behavior by which samurai in Japan lived by. Kendo is a modernized sport version of swordplay that has roots in traditional kenjutsu. It seems you like the older arts, the ones that are "jutsu"(Taijutsu, jujutsu) rather than the modern arts which are "do" (judo, aikido, karate-do. "Jutsu" were military/tactical sciences, main goal was to win the fight. "Do" prepares you for self-defense and/or competition, but also personal development.

  • thanks alot with that piece of information I feel more informed about what I' going to take

  • can you run around fields like bushido blade 1 and 2

  • Is there a BUSHIDO BLADE for ps2 ?

  • This is the Bushido blade for PS2. they gave the rights to Lightweight.

  • i thought it was good when i was a kid but it was to hard for me

  • OHH MANN this was the first game I ever got for the PS2 i remember getting this on christmas day.

i was sooo scared to play it because i got it when I was like 10 years old so i never really played it.

  • Man...I used to love this game so much when I was younger. Always played this shit like crazy...

  • this would be better if they plugged it into a story game like way of the samurai but it still looks good

  • Love this game. Actually just found a copy of it a few weeks ago for $4 at a local Gamestop. I too chose Hyuga and trained him at the Hirata Dojo. The game play really is addicting with all the different combos you can try out.

  • damn this brings back a lot of good memories.

  • i know how you feel i almost cried bro lol

  • Your first priority is striking strength, and the one after that speed. Again; Zhosenmaon Hyuga is so lightning fast, that if you up his strength enough, and use the one handed sword style Yatsunao belongs to, IT IS possible to kill the enemy in only three hits, I've done it before many times. I really wish there was a reliable PS2 emulator so I could show you.

  • I believe there is a fucker named "Yatsunao" in this game; he's got a weird, creepy scream, and he is one ugly fucker. He is the disciple of the sword school you want to study at.

  • good choice Zhoezenmaon Hyuga; he's lightning fast, however, that is not the best style. Find the following moves; it has to be a one handed sword style, emphasizing speed. The moves you want; the first one is a downward strike, which immediately turns into an upward strike, after that, he does a spinning strike. With that combo, you can kill your adversary in three clean hits.

  • Way of the Samurai seems better.

  • This is still a good buy if you're into Samurai games.

  • lmao the mother fucker was doing combos, he shoulda been dead.

  • lol i can deafet u in just 10 sec dude!

  • Probably. I hadn't played the game in years before I made this vid, so I'm hella rusty.

  • I played this game to death. I will never forget those death cries and the birds that sound like they're saying "fuck" in the background.

  • Well, considering that this is the unofficial sequel to the Bushido Blade fighting series on the PS1, you may want to check those games out too.

Are you wanting something more relistic, or are you looking for anything like say Soul Calibur?

There is also Kengo 2, and I do believe they eve made a Kengo for the 360.

  • Its a decent game, but I still prefer the previous Bushido Blade games.

  • Me too, but Kengo is still pretty fun in it's own right.

  • nice graphics to be an ps2

  • Really? It was practically a launch game, but it does have nice reflective mapping on the floors for sure.

  • yeahh i saw that. hehe i had a xbox before but it did sux on reflections. but on details it was better
