  • Cyndi can STILL hit the same high notes.

  • Cyndi is just great.

  • if you fault cindy, look at your own life, because you'll never be her. :) she is amazing.

  • she has such a cute north east accent. :) I'm from the south btw, so i guess i can say that.

  • i like it that way to

  • This woman has been so under appreciated. You never hear her name mentioned on a regular base. But if you see an artist on stage doing a duet with her, you know you're in for something good because she is just a lil can of musical whoop-ass! So amazing...

  • I luv Cyndi fuckin Lauper, man. Everybody was dressin like Madonna, but Cyndi was my girl. I had to be her for my 5th grade halloween parade. luv her! and Cyndi was the better singer, in my opinion.

  • @ILuvMusic4real right!! I always thought Madonna was a bad copy of Cindy Lauper :)

  • She's not telling the truth. In actuality, Cyndi Lauper has voice problems and she tries not to hit the high notes unless it's absolutely necessary. So when she claims she's singing some "original" version of her song(s), she's really not. Straining for notes that she's not really equipped to reach has caused vocal chord problems for Cyndi. This is a problem for lots of rock/pop singers who scream their way through songs rather than sticking to their natural range.

  • @AdolescentGorilla Ummm.... then how come she can be seen / heard in many newer vids *including this one* performing the high notes?

  • @AdolescentGorilla Ummm.... then how come she can be seen / heard in many newer vids *including this one* performing the high notes?

  • @AdolescentGorilla - I don't quite understand - what's your source for that info? In the original version the chorus isn't in the same high register as Cyndi's take, correct?

  • @AdolescentGorilla: Why be concerned with her range NOW . Shehas accomplished so many ORIGINAL SOUNDING pieces of music "artwork" I call that was beyond incendiary. nuff said

  • you dont know wth u r talking bout. her voice is truly really very strong her vocals are really strong n dont talk bout my cousin like that okay. thats my cousin, and i think her vocals n voice is the best think whatever u want. u just jealous u cant do it all like her

  • I think she made the right choice in singing the harmonies.

  • Stimulates......

    The aureolas...;lol

  • where is the true colors song she sang on the show?

  • Acoustic even better than original. She ROCKS!

  • I love her. Why couldn't I be alive in the 80's?? I got stuck in frickin 1999. Poo it.

  • WOW.. she has such a strong throaty voice.... she can sing without instrumental backing... her voice alone is AMAZING to sit and listen to.

  • Oh my God, Stern is TOOO Freaking Hilarious.... Cyndi...wow, just speechless...what a gift she is to the world

  • The ariola lol. Idiot!

    '

  • p e r f e c t

  • Best voice of the 80's, Thnx Howard, thnx Gorilla.....

  • "he didn`t reeuuuulize"

stopped right there, why can`t she talk ?

  • She has that Edith Bunker New York accent.

  • @tothatextent SHE'S ITALIAN!!!!! I THOUGHT HER LAST NAME WAS LAUPERELLI LOL.

  • @thedarthflagger

She's half Italian. Her accent is 'cause she's from Queens.

  • I Love You Cyndi.

  • I love tis song. I would always sing the (what I thought was the harmony) part. Which Cyndi now says was supposed to be the lead.

  • What would we be without her music, her voice, her lyrics, her soul, this is it for the heart.... can you feel the warmth

  • This lady can SING!!

    No autotune needed!!

  • lol omg her voice!

  • yeeahh, she is SOO Noo Yorka.. but she IS great (and hilarious!)

  • Comment removed

  • I lover her personality and her voice, katy perry is the cyndi lauper of my generation, i lover cyndi

  • @youhavenoidea09 your face

  • @youhavenoidea09 Wrong. She's been married for 19 years to her actor/husband, David Thornton, and they have a son.

  • @vyanez08 you dont know what you are talking aboit.

  • cyndi is cool she has a great voice and sound to her.

  • Howard is the man, just accept it haters. People always hate the superstars. It's human nature.

  • I LOOOOOVE this Live Stern Show version except when she messes up at about 4:55. Only bummer is its such a beautiful song that I would love THIS version complete! Thanks for posting you "babyGorilla" :) Great Song!! Thanks to Don Rickles for giving us the phrase babygorilla and now Adolescentgorilla and Thanks to the King of All Media Howard Stern...Stern-rules-bababooey!!

  • @ameriken11 I feel the same way. I wish she would have done the original version of the song. Sounded really good.

  • My last comment...

was just about MY ignorance as a young girl. I DID know there was more about her. I was young and too AFRAID to know. I am now 49 ... THIS WOMAN ROCKS!!! Not only with her music... more importantly... with her TRUTH!!

And then I ask myself... can you EVER separate one from the other??

NO!!! Cyndi is what she gives... nothing more and NOTHING less...

    PERIOD.

  • The woman

is much more than i ever knew back in the 80's

wow.... just wow!! If ANYONE can handle Howard lol

IT IS CYNDI!! she NEVER lost a beat... and she rocks on and on

    on...

  • musica angelical, es esta es la musica-arte no las porquerias de hoy en dia. cindy the best

  • Howard Stern is absolutely fantastic at what he does. So lay the fuck off.

Cyndi Lauper is also extraordinary at what she does. So lay off her too.

  • @TimothyDonaghue I love both cindy and Howard they bring out best in each other.

  • great performance, and great interview like only stern can do it.

  • man, her voice is cute. I feel the same as Howard about her singing.. She can totally voice for Harley Quinn (Arleen Sorkin) from Batman animated TV cartoon.

  • wow, she's still got it!

  • i love cyndi, but she sounds like a cartoon character................... lol........ maybe a little elmer fudd.

  • What a fucking great talent.

  • Fucking Awesome!

  • well done

  • she is a genious

  • I totally don't get the first bit of this... lol

    Sooo confused... =/

Cyndi writes songs about being with a girl?

  • I don't care which version Cyndi sings, this is still a great song. Her last single, "Into the Nightlife" was just as good, if not better than anything on the radio today. I would love to hear Cyndi on the radio again. She is so kind and giving, especially to the GLBT community. She deserves better!

  • @ jimmy82869

I know right? Cyndi's amazing, but I guess we have to put up with Lady Gaga when we turn on the radio. Well, I don't listen to the radio anyway, so I don't have to listen to her =)

  • I don't listen to the radio anymore because the stations play the same ten songs each hour and they've even begun to shut out Madonna (which I thought could never happen.) It makes me angry because Grundge lasted just long enough to kill real rock music and rap lasted just long enough to kill true pop music. Now everything sounds the same. Music Recipe: Take common computer generated beat, add new lyrics and stir = instant radio hit. At least with sampling, they admitted they used another song.

  • sounds like her new york accent has relaxed a little bit since long ago but its still fairly thick haha.

  • I think she, her husband (David Thornton) and son, Declyn settled somewhere in the Midwest and have lived there for years. I don't remember which state, though.

  • @jimmy82869 cyndi lives on the west side of manhattan in a famous apartment building called the "apthorp".

  • I read somewhere that they were living in a small town, but it was years ago. Cyndi also talked about having to tone her hair down because she was a member of her son's PTA.

  • @harrygreen48

She got divorced and moved out. Used to live there. She moved downtown I think.

  • can't find anything on the net about cyndi and david thornton getting divorced.

  • Beautiful!

  • What a treat this morning

  • she doesn't miss a beat!

    awesome!

  • most beautiful voice.. luv u cyndi..

  • cyndi is awesome!! i love her voice so much!

    is she on tour atm?

her voice is so beautiful! i wish i could sing like her :)

5:55 hair styles of the eighty are radical XD i love her hair style in girls just wanna have fun the best :)

  • the photo of Stern is as cheezy as it gets

  • Thank God Cyndi changed the melody line for the chorus. The way it was originally intended is nowhere near as exciting as the melody line she sang on the official version.

  • But what a treat to hear its original version

  • Stern is one of the Nicest people to ever met!He is far from a Cock.I met Cock Celebrites and Stern isn't one of them.

  • i love her accent. haha.

she talks like the best 80's singer.

like liz taylor. muahh. i love them.

    with michael jackson lovelove

  • Cyndi is Timeless

  • her voice is like a mix of Cytherea and Sharon Osbourne :p

  • Howard Stern is a funny guy. Cyndi is a beautiful human being -her music is truly wonderful.

  • Cyndi is just adorable - Stern is a cock.

  • @Spaceweed10 how is he a cock?

  • @Spaceweed10 you suck cock !!!!

  • @seangervais85 Your mom sucks cock too - MINE, you biatch :D

  • oooh wow

  • i like her personality

  • This chick's accent is adorable......she is amazing!!

  • "oooh ...that's how I singi it ...so sorry"

    lol

  • God, this woman is fantastic! I love her.

  • This chick's accent is adorable

  • The original is pretty good.

  • Cyndi is an INCREDIBLE performer. I can listen to her all day. She is also so down to earth and nice to everyone. Very few people can perform live as well as Cyndi.

    Thanks for posting this interview.

  • She is amazing.

  • howard stern make me laugh........haaaaaaaa

  • Cyndi Lauper, healing the World one song at a time.

  • Stern is such a SCUM, Cyndi is too good to be a guest on this jerk's program.

  • howard's nice, you're the one calling people scum

  • I'm calling Howard scum because he IS.

I have talked to him personally and he has NO respect for ANY of the artists who appear on his show. Next time really LISTEN to the utterly RUDE questions he asks them online live:he tries to deliberately embarrass them to get higher ratings BUT when on occasionally one has the guts to try to turn the table on Howard and do the same to HIM he makes damn sure they are NEVER invited back!

  • HAHAAHAHAHAHAH... i'm pretty sure people know what kind of interviewer he is before they go on his show.

  • I remember the HORRIBLE "skits" he did in the early years of his show. In one, he had his staff fill a grocery trolley FULL of food that was GLUED to the trolley, then parked the trolley downtown in the "skid Row" section of town. He had a hidden camera film street folks actually FIGHTING each other for the food, while Howard had a BIG laugh about it!

The trolley that was selected-as I recall-was also CHAINED to the place it was parked, and desperate folks struggled to free it on-camera!

  • Further, Howard is always criticizing his former friend Don Imus(yes they were friends in the early days of their careers)and calling him a "racist" when in fact Howard says FAR WORSE things in private than Don has ever said on his radio program-FACT! Yeah, Howard is such a "funny" and "nice" guy, HAHAHAHA HAHA!! >:(

  • have you ever tossed a guys salad?

  • yes

  • i believe he was being truthful there

  • @Babyhowdy233 Most of these industry people aren't nice they are cut throat bastards thats how they got where they are.

  • You have to be kidding! There is NO interviewer more honest with questions and how he answers them than Howard. He has opened up his life to listeners for 28 years and kept our interest all along. Nobody has ever done that to this extent in entertainment. If you listen to comments of people who visit his show, you will find an amazing respect and energy they come away with. Howard is unique, honest, and not everyone's cup of tea. I guess it 's time for you to have another cup of coffee!

  • Wow shes got some pipes still. Ig am the bigest Stevie Nicks fan, however in the 80' did not care for Madonna at all i was a Cyndi Fan i love how she made, it sure was not easy with her acent shes unreal sorr,y Ms Nicks but dam that coke altered your voice. you still are the premire writer ok

  • i loved this song, its so amazing.

  • I kinda prefer the original version.

  • She is so adorable and positive. And all that talent wrapped up in a woman who just conveys every emotion honestly is a great package.

Cindy Lauper is one of the most underrated singer-songwriters out there.

  • some singers are timeless! much love

  • She sure is a little ball of dynamite...full of enthusiasm and energy! Ya' gotta' love Cyndi for her vibrant peformances! Great voice and there is a sense of playful mischief in her stage persona ! Just a lively, cute little spark to light up a positive smile on the face of a world in search of itself! A fiery babe and fantastic entertainer!

  • Ohh.. Loove love That Big Jersey accent She has! :)

  • She is from Queens in NYC

  • You really dont know whats a jersey english..... right?

  • she has such a beautiful voice with no tweaking or need of computers...too bad too many "artists" nowadays are all autotuned and shit so they can actually sound good.

  • Everyman wants a woman with that voice!

  • She is amazing.

  • top ten 80's song...was never a lauper fan, but give props for this song.

  • She's so funny and cute. I love her accent! lol Her singing voice is so pretty. ^___^

  • You ppl must have tin ears Cyndi sounds absolutly nothing like Stevie Nicks. Ive seen F-Mac several times in concert and Stevie Nicks can barely sing live. She needs the wall of computers in the studio to stay in key and to tweak her octaves. Cyndi has an extreemly powerfull voice with an incredible range and texture=no comparison w Nicks

  • Stevie sounded fine when I saw her, but Cyndi does have a wider range.

  • stevie sounds great to me live - better music (sorry i don't really car for her music only this sond)

  • I like Stevie, but the way she sounds now is nothing compared to how she sounded when she started out. She was once great live, but a little worse for wear these days.

  • I love Stevie Nicks, but I love Cyndi Lauper, too. I don't like to compare them because they are both two of my favorites. To me, it would be like a parent favoring one of their kids over the other. I could go on forever listing things I love about each of them.

  • I love Stevie Nicks. She has a hole in her nose from cocaine and pollups on her throat, both of which she refuses to have corrected by surgery. Many doctors have recommended it, but she's afraid it will change her voice and she will no longer have her "signature sound," much like Bonnie Tyler. Stevie has always had a sultry voice. If you begin with her earlier recordings and listen all the way up to recent ones, you can hear the progression. Still, I like her voice the way it is. It's unique.

  • anydamn your right...good ear.

  • This version DOES sound like Stevie Nicks but I favoited it anyway...I LIKE it! Thoriginal is fantastic too.

  • She sounds alot like stevie nicks when she sings.

  • Cindy ..you are amazing!..even when you make mistakes!!!

  • My favorite interview. I love when there is chemistry.

  • awesome stuff

  • Cyndi Lauper sings like an angel

  • The King of all Interviewers!! All hail King Howard!! *She's great too*

  • I love Cindi Lauper, but I just can't get over the similiarities in the timber of her voice with the late great Shari Lewis, especially when she states "that's the way I sing it....I'm sooo sorry"!

  • This is a badass preformance and interview.

  • Cyndi would do a lot better if she sang it as she originally sang it but with the acoustic accompaniment.

  • oh so cyndi is a lesbian? i know its none of my buisness im just curious

  • No. She's just very active in the gay rights area.

  • but she basicly just said she was..

  • no she didn't, she said she wrote a song about it. she's married with a son.

  • because she experimented when she was younger like most people do. but found she wasn't interested in women in that way. soooo hence the song and the husband and son.

  • This is an very strang guy. Isn`t he unfriendly or am I too sensitive?

  • Howard Stern has constructed an extremely successful career on the idea that he gives 100% effort for his fans and listeners. Nobody in show business works harder or endures more derision than Howard. When guests come to Howard's show to promote their agendas, he expects them to give their best effort. If a guest won't put out and give the audience something extra, Howard's audience won't be satisfied. Howard knows how to cajole a guest into giving his audience an extraordinary performance.

  • I agree billiardjay...Howard has a way of getting inside people and making them open up. If they refuse, he tries harder and if they continue to refuse to be honest and open, he tires of them and they will never be on again.

He expects the best from his guests who are there to promote and the fans expect him to expect the best.

  • Howard Stern is an asshole.

  • Thanks very much for posting. I heard her interview in the morning when it first aired in the car and it was hilarious. And she did a beautiful performance of All through the night. My very favorite song of Cyndi's. When they said she was gonna sing it I got so excited.

  • What a great song she did on Howard! I heard it on the channel, and I'm glad that I can hear it again here.

    HEY NOW! ;)

  • This is an awesome rendition of an amazing song

  • WOW! SHE IS SO ADORABLE! Love her!

  • She is amazing! I knew she sounded good and everything, but this was just spectactular! Cyndi, you're new album kicks ass hard! Keep the music comn'!

  • Beautiful, they don't make artist like her anymore. What a rare treat, thanks Cyndi Lauper, amazing VOICE, you Rock.

  • Wow, my spine just tingled listening to that.....I never realized she had such a wonderful voice.

  • Such a great singer

  • I love that woman! She's so brilliant.

  • They just played this again this morning, what a great performance, and I didn't really used to like her very much.

    Great voice, great song

  • She was amazing. I was disappointed that she didnt start over from the beginning. I too would like an edited-together version, because both the classic and 'original' version both sound wonderful, and work fine together in the same song. Great stuff.

  • I never actually listened to the song itself before. It's a great tune, really. I get the feeling it is about prostitutes. Is that just me?

  • Its just you. :) I dont think its about that at all. Just my opinion. More of a new relationship/new beginning type of thing. "We have no past, we wont reach back". Its fresh and new. No old dirt to dig up on a new relationship . "This precious time, when time is new". The only 'prostitute' thing I can see you finding would be the 'under the white street lights', But thats a stretch too. Seems to me to be about new love. Much prettier song than prostitution.

  • What about the stray cat reference? OK, if not prostitutes, then very lonely people who live other lives by day. That's the reason for "we have no past." It's about the couple. Just those two people. the barely know each other, so they have no past to reach back into and drum up old problems.

  • Also - "And once we start the meter clicks

And it goes running all through the night"

  • Wrong. According to Jules Shear, it's about "a one night stand" affair. The thing is that too many folks(especially in America) don't realize you sometimes DO have a sexual encounter with someone that you know you won't ever see again and yet it's so special and memorable you will treaure the memory for a lifetime.

The idea that it must ALWAYS happen with someone whom you are having an EXCLUSIVE relationship with is pure hogwash.

  • It's about a "one night stand" according to what Jules told me years ago. It really is a GORGEOUS song!!!!

  • i made a edited-together version :) it sounds great.. probably the best version of all through the night so far...

  • Thats awesome! but Dang...I thought it would be on your account? Any chance of getting an MP3 from you? My daughter (cyndifan1 who posted here as well) is a huge fan, we would both love a copy for the MP3 player. Thanks...

  • I like that they have the mistake in there. Live shows that keep that stuff in are rare, that's why Howard is great!

  • This is perhaps the most impressive performance I have ever heard on Stern. Lauper shows both her age and her soul. Hopefully someone will edit the audio to remove the mistake. Thanks for posting the audio. Does someone have the video?

  • foo fighters, "everlong" was pretty good too. check it out if you haven't already.
