@7anoosh well idk then cuz i study Juku ryu Jiu Jitsu and we do alot of stand up as well as ground work, there are punches kicks knees and elbows envolved obviously at core it is still a grappling martial art but im jst saying ....
@SilenTwolF23100 oh ok because in this video they are talking about jiu jitsu not juku ryu its diffident because jiu jitsu is only ground work and submissions

@txway0 Hahaha wait are u serious? you have to be a troll. Please say you're not genuine. You are talking about effectiveness, and u argue for Tae kwon do and wushu? Judo, Jiu Jitsu, and Muay Thai will beat tae kwon do or wushu any day, and that's been demonstrated so many times. I hope you're joking.
7:57 the guy says that brazilian jiu-jitsu came from ancient japanese jujutsu, this isnt true. it actually came from judo. look at wikipedia>> ''Brazilian jiu-juitsu'' -The art began with Mitsuyo Maeda (aka Conde Koma, or Count Coma in English), a member of the then-recently-founded Kodokan. Maeda was one of five of Judo's top groundwork experts that Judo's founder Kano Jigoro sent overseas to demonstrate and spread his art to the world, eventually arriving in Brazil on November 14, 1914.
LIES! All lies!! Perpetuated by a family that has its roots in business above all else. This an absolute disgrace. "b"JJers all try to erase Kano from history and I'm sick of it.
@daswerdasss You betcha! Judo has been changed in a sport these days. A disgrace toward Kano Sensei. They have deviated from the teachings. Techniques are adapted. Things are left out. Other principles are learnt. Emphasis put on strength of body rather than using the other guys strength.
I practice Judo and I can assure you that there is a lot of shit in Judo these days. It has been deviated.
@SkemeKOS Don't take it too personal; I guess you are from the USA. I live in the Netherlands, and there, too, are many styles that are completely adapted.
They forget some of the most important things (technique, principle or philosophy) which are vital for the art to be an effective one.
Nowadays, most (western) styles of Judo focus way too much on the sportive aspect.
If they would have any respect for Jigoro Kano at all, they would have kept the balance.
Maeda was a master in some styles of jiu-jiutsu and judo. He taught jiu-jitsu techniques to the Gracies. Helio Gracie adapted that jiu-jitsu to fit his body and personality and so Gracie jiu-jitsu or BJJ was created.
I love Judo. Shameful that these guys have totally misrepresented the origins of BJJ. BJJ is derived from Judo, which was derived from Jap Jiu Jitsu - primarily Tenjin Shinyo Ryu and Kito Ryu. The guys who taught the first Brazilians were all Judo guys who had been sent overseas by the Founder of Judo, Jigaro kano.
Judo was Founded after Jujitsu as a modified form of Jujitsu that's what I learn from my sensei and from many Judo documentary including this one when the Judoka explained to the two host. ???
When I was younger I always thought judo was boring. I started practicing aikido because there's no competing, but judo looks more and more intriguing. Alot of common ground in the basics.

I think Judo is not as effective like REAL martial arts: Tae kwon do or Wushu.
And its more grabbing not punching or kicking.

@txway0 i like how you restrict martial arts to only striking, i think you need to go and learn a bit more.

I don't like how martial arts are adapted in the west. They should be kept as they were taught. In the U.S.A. they have so many wrong forms of judo.
