  • Again some guys came up with bodybuilding when this video is all about olympic weightlifting. When will they learn? I´m glad nobody came up with Kimbo Slice....

  • 569 almost 570 pounds, anyone know how much he weighs?

  • scream at 0:18 haha. amazing lift !

  • Comment removed

  • everyone in the stands.....AAAAAAAUUUUUGGGGGHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • This is a video of a perfectly executed, amazing lift. Who the fuck is here to talk about bodybuilding? Retards are arguing who's stronger... Are you out of you underdeveloped mind? It's like two five year olds arguing if Silvester Stallone can really beat the shit out of Mike Tyson.

  • can ronnie front squat 258k with a half second pause hams compressed on the cavs? i think not.

  • @m1kekim The answer is yes, and could regularly squat 600+ front ass to grass for REPS. Could this guy stiff leg deadlift 800 for two? Ronnie was doing all sorts of incredible feats IN ALL AREA OF STRENGTH, whilst dieted and 5% bf. Ronnie had the best genetics ever known to man, and was a successful football player and sprinter before bb, and even turned pro naturally. Many have speculated that Ronnie could have been the greatest powerlifter of all time, had that have been his goal.

  • my clavicles hurt everytime i see that catch on the clean

  • Any of your IFBB pros would have a pretty unbeliavably hard time in doing a good,. full c&j like the one performed here masterfully by Steiner. With those massive biceps they're rocking nowadays I doubt they could even properly rack the bar.

  • @Socomite Alright but they are bodybuilders, not powerlifters, they are not training to do that.

  • @bcopp8323 indeed, the two disciplines are a world apart - I wasn't disputing that at all. This was in reply to some bb.com doughboy who claimed bb's would be able to curl that or something ridiculous to that effect.

  • @Socomite Oh I didnt see that comment, my bad.

  • thank you so much for uploading this. :)

  • He's lifting on water. Lol

  • Incredible technique, explosion, and strength. The next Olympics is going to be so legit!!!

  • Damn, he gets under the bar so fast. Awesome lifter.

  • he cant challenge the iranian Herculies

  • @thedamgame Who?

  • @10110rm

husain rezada,,,that guy lifted 263kg which is a world record.

  • @thedamgame Is he competing again?

  • Beautiful moment. He fulfilled his promise to his wife.

  • WOW im canadian and with his story with his wife's death and all he pulled off like 8 KG ( 15 pounds) better than his self-record.... tell me that the mental aspect of sport doesn't exist... when you want something bad you can achieve it!!!!

  • @man61x great comment.

  • AGHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH

  • Nice one there!

Must have really helped him after all that he has been through.

  • ...568.79 pounds few ppl can even squat that.

    that is amazing

  • @Og3990, let alone front squat it!

  • @mcnailler93G lol few people can even deadlift that, let alone front squat it then jerk it lol

  • @freedomsoldier187 AMEN! Right now, I couldn't even deadlift one end of that weight. The man is awesome!!!!!

  • this is the single greatest lift in weightlifting history i think. i mean its not the world record or anything. but after every thing he went through the previous year losing his wife to a car accident, its amazing he was even there let alone winning it. inspirational stuff

  • tht is one jaked german dude. tip: dont fight with him

  • Easily the best moment of the Olympics.

  • this is actually a good video to watch on form as well.

  • He didn't retire.

  • He did not retire; in fact he has competed since the Olympics several times and is currently training fulltime.

  • so cool. gives me chills

  • i love how he stays so erect in that front squat. best teaching video ever for upper body squat orientation. amazing lift/lifter

  • fuck bodybuilding!

  • @hipoxantha

    haters gonna hate

  • @hipoxantha It's not bodybuilding, it's Olympic lifting.......

  • @hipoxantha Doug Hepburn said "I have often thought most people would rather see a demonstration of strength than a man posing on a platform."

  • @hipoxantha that's not bodybuilding doofus

  • @covie92 That's why he is saying "fuck bodybuilding;" because this is cooler than bodybuilding. Get it? Feel like the doofus now? =)

  • @pavanisreddy haha shhhh ;)

  • @hipoxantha hey dipshit this is powerlifting not body building just look at the gut on this guy he's fat as hell he could never be a body builder

  • @IFknHateUTube lololol this isn't powerlifting

  • Comment removed

  • @digger1392 wtf are you on about

  • @IFknHateUTube it's called olympic weightlifting

  • @IFknHateUTube its not powerlifting, even though it should be called powerlifting. what should be callled strength lifting is called powerlifting, none of the three 'powerlifts'- deadlift, squat, bench press- are in the olympics. im sure he could never be a bodybuilder, but im sure ronnie coleman and jay cutler are physically incapable of cleaning one third the weight this guy does. shoulders and foreams are just too big, and they have probably never done power training in their lives.

  • @TheBoyupstairs jay cutler's a quarterback, I'm sure he can't lift for shit

  • @IFknHateUTube not the quarterback Jay Culter, the current Mr. Olympia is also named Jay Cutler, and his squat and deadlift are both over 700, but I dunno how'd he do in powerlifting like this...

  • @icanseetime there is no fucking way that that jay cutler can squat over 700 pounds. you must be thinking of someone else

  • @hipoxantha

there are many bodybuilders that are much stronger than him.....steiner just uses MUCH swinging power and his technique is perfect...but i can tell you for example ronnie coleman is stronger than him( he made over 1000 kg in legpress...)

  • @xeli1994x A 1000kg leg press isn't nearly as impressive as a 258kg CJ

  • @BackSquat42

yea but till he pressed the 1000 kg only with his muscles...Steiner uses VERY VERY MUCH SWINGING.... i dont think steiner does more in legpress than ronnie coleman...

  • @xeli1994x he doesn't use "very much swinging" that's called building momentum. It looks like he's "swinging" it because he's so fast and explosive. It doesn't matter if he can't leg press more than ronnie, leg pressing isn't a sport, and it won't win you an olympic gold. He can beat coleman in the lifts that matter

  • @BackSquat42

yeah but still ronnie is stronger....if he would train lifting , he would be able to lift more than steiner because he has much more power.....hes not only better in legpress, also in the "main power exercises" squat, deadlifts and benchpress...

Do you really think steiner is stronger than a guy with crazy genetics training since ca. 20 years(+nutritionplan and steroids )?

    sry 4 bad english

  • @xeli1994x Steiner doesn't have crazy genetics? Bottom line is, until Ronnie can out Snatch, out Clean, or out Squat (real a2g squats, none of that suited powerlifting squatting) Steiner, your argument has no basis.

  • @BackSquat42

ronnie squats 370 kg for reps without a suit ...hes much stronger than steiner whos maximum squat is at 300-350kg( in an interview)...

but like im saying : if ronnie would have learned the technique, he would be able to beat steiner

  • @xeli1994x those aren't ass to grass squats i guarantee you...your argument still has no basis...like i said, until ronnie can outlift steiner in any of the lifts that matter, your don't have an argument

  • @xeli1994x is there a vid out there of ronnie squatting 370 kg for reps without a suit? In one if his training films he squats 800 pounds for a double, fully equiped. Ronnie's strong, but I don't think he can (or ever could) squat 370 kg for reps unequipped.

  • @xeli1994x

So where's the video of ronnie squating 370 reps without a suit? Or did you read that in muscle and fitness? LOL

The fact that you even brought up leg press makes it clear that you really don't know what you're talking about.

  • @AeacusCanti

look at wikipedia or buy his dvd

  • @xeli1994x even if ronnie could squat 100kg more and had perfect olympic lifting technique, he wouldnt lift anywhere close to steiner. ronnie doesnt have the explosive strength. a 77kg lifter can even squat 300kg+ watch?v=0eJzJ6SGJSM, but they dont clean and jerk 250kg+. squats doesnt have perfect transition of power on the lifts. you have to do the lifts themselves to get better at them

  • @jakebrigand

yeah ok...im only bodybuilding since 5 years..i dont have much knowledge about lifting, so sry for talking shit ;)

  • @hipoxantha fuck YOU

  • @hipoxantha fuck you asshole, a trained bodybuilder can easily do that

  • @hipoxantha Hey genius, you know this specific guy did this for his (passed away) wife, don't you? He dedicated the rest of his training just for the sole reason he promised a gold medal for her

Fuck bodybuilding? I'd think again, he's probably accomplished more in his training alone than you have in the past 10 years

  • @classified01 Yet rezazadieh took the gold. UMAD germanfag?

  • @ownedlol123 "Matthias Steiner's 258kg clean and jerk in the men's +105kg division. This lift was for the gold medal and one of the great moments from the Beijing Olympics." - Video Description

  • @classified01 He meant body building, not olympic lifting. This is oympic lifting. Bodybuilding: Think Arnold Schwartzeneagar and Ronnie coleman.

  • That was cool.

  • Thanks, cool to see from another angle.

  • cool lift he really was struggling with the weight!!!!!!!!

  • This is world record.strong as hell is

    this guy.

  • that´s not the world record

  • i think that it is world record, but if not

    what is?

  • jedelo24 is correct, the current world record is held by hussein reezzazadeh, but with 263,5 kg. He did it in Athen 2004.

  • i thought the world record is held by hussein rezazadeh...258.5kg

  • Current WR: Rezazadeh 263,5 in Athens 2004.

All time WR: Taranenko 266 in Canberra 1988.

  • ya i was about to say nobody mentioned taranenko, haha

  • i got to meet him and train with the two other guys from his team jurgen and almir, and they are all really nice guys. But I got to shake his hand and it was just so meaningful!

  • ye strength athletes generally are great sportsmen. its the same in powerlifting. youd be hard pushed to come across a high level powerliftin who wouldnt help you out and give some tips. same on stuff like wsm, they cheer each other on.

  • First time i've seen it from this angle, really great, congrats Mathias

  • fucking intense, one more pound i doubt he wouldve made it

  • ...And how wonderful to find a heartwarming video with genuine comments that haven't been ruined by idiot american teenagers. What an amazing moment, i have to find some scenes immediately after this now. Well done Matthias!

  • @steelcitydubber yeh, americans are fucking idiots they ruin everything with their ignorance.

  • @MultiTrollHunter ya and where ever the multi troll hunters are from is better? frankly i dont give a shit what you think about america, but maybe each person should be held individually accountable for their ignorance. your loosing.

  • @mcmil013 do you want me to by you some tissues because you are crrying an awful lot

  • Can't find a video on youtube that shows this lift with some more of Steiner's reaction afterwards. You just know what he's got going on in his head when he ramps up the power.

  • @focomo watch?v=iX-k9KOxuPQ&feature=related here you can see some of his celebration afterwards...

  • @rutimschuh It says it's private, how can I access this video? I really want to see this version.

  • great moment! great athlete!!

  • Wow! Great lift, but I think he knew that he was about an inch away from dumping that jerk behind. It's great to see this amazing lift from the side for once! THANKS!

  • FANTASTIC !!

  • Best moment from the Olympics this year. I shed SO many tears when he won Gold.

  • so did i he deserved it so much, all he's been through.

  • Nice to see the lift from this angle. He is a champ!
