You are a breath of fresh air my man. No "state of the art" BS. Jest good old fashion "get it done" information. Dam good job and thank you for the awsome video.
this may be a stupid q but why is the blue bowl raised in the center,i thought gold liked to fall to the bottom, how would it even enter the sluce below it?
@imatelly The blue bowl is raised in the center so that when the water starts to spin the lighter dirt climbs up the cone and out of the center leaving most of the gold in the bottom of the blue bowl. The small sluice underneath is just a second stage recovery system to catch any tiny gold that may have made it's way out with the dirt.
great video cob, i'm just about to make my version of the gold lab, looking for ideas on you tube & came across yours, i'll chase up your next one & hopefully get more ideas of you. once i've done my version ill upload it.
love the use of the milk crates, use them my self for everything.
cheers crampo

I've decided I need to redesign it a bit... Having the funnel attached to the bottom seems to disturb the blue bowl's water flow (backs up a bit and water can't escape the bowl quickly enough).
I think I'm going to abandon this project and start on my miller table.
I spent an afternoon feeding material through a friends miller and I'm convinced!
The blue bowl is great for what it is, but it's tediously slow... Miller from now on!
@williambheil1 There are a few different options... a cheap low voltage option is a playstation controller.. I used a motor from a 12V drill and ground off part of the cog on the end making it spin off balance and causing a pretty good vibration.
I like it, but I don't get it and here's why. The Blue Bowl is supposed to separate gold from black sand by flushing the black sands and whatever else down the middle, leaving the gold in the blue bowl. On your setup you then have a sluice. Is that a just in case sluice? As well I don't understand the use of funnels as they will clog and ideally you'll want your feed to be behind the blue bowl's water inlet. Definitely interested in upcoming videos
The blue bowl does do a very good job at covering the fine gold but just like panning there can be times where a tiny bit might go over the edge here and there... So yes, the sluice is basically just a back up to see if anything has been missed... if it has I can run the sluice material in the blue bowl again at a slower speed to make sure I don't lose them again...
No gold system can guarantee 100% recovery no matter what they say... But this helps recover what the bowl misses
The funnel has a water feed and a motor with an offset weight on it to make the funnel vibrate. This creates a nice smooth flow of material into the bowl and since I classify my material clogging is never a problem! It's better then scooping a clump of cons in there and disturbing/slowing the water flow.
I am experimenting with where the best place is to feed it... The funnel is on a swivel that allows me to move it around if I like.
dude you just saved me like 800 bucks haha
