There is no real poverty in scandinavian countries. Sure, some people have more money than others, but everyone can afford clothes, a place to live, food, etc. And youre not stuck in the bottom cause your parents cant afford to send you to college. And there are almost no homeless people, and those that are homeless are either homeless because they want to (those exist) or because theyre claustrophobic or psychotic and cant stand being inside for whatever reason. And those people get help.
Take a look at north european countries, scandinavian countries in particular. They use a model called "Free market socialism" They have high taxes. Especially for the rich. These taxes are used by the government on free education, college included, free healthcare, lots of help for the weakest members of society, pensions for the elderly, etc. Its not communism. people still own their own stuff. Rich people can still afford more things than others, so theres still incentive to work hard.

Though I disagree about being self sufficient. It doesn't mean you're capable of ANYTHING. There will always be people with a natural talent in one area while others do well in another, by choice or simply a matter of convenience. ( Just because you know how, doesn't mean you can catch fresh ocean lobster or fish in your backyard in Iowa.) Even if you get and breed the lobsters/fish in some giant salt-water tank or farm, it has to come from somewhere else first.
My argument wasn't one against trade, but against self-sufficiency. :) I don't think it's attainable or desirable. A certain degree of self-sufficiency can be achieved, but we always benefit from helping eachother out and trading with eachother.
I'm not saying people are interdependent. Of course some people could manage (for a while at least) to be entirely independent and self-sufficient. What I'm saying is that everyone is better of is people don't attempt to be self-sufficient. If they instead trade with eachother, everyone involved will benefit. They don't even have to work together with a common goal to achieve maximum results. They just have to avoid using violence against eachother, cause even enemies benefit when shaking hands.
If that's what you mean by self-sufficiency, then I agree wholeheartedly. Although, unlike most anarchists, I don't believe communities require collective ownership, equality in possessions, and all that. Humans prosper working together, and a society is just a large number of individuals working together, not with a common goal, but with their own motivations and goals, prospering from the self-interest of others in the process.
I'm not quite sure which part of my post you're arguing against. Of course some people will have access to some resources and others to other resources, and some individuals will be better or worse at producing certain goods, and will trade the goods they are good at producing for goods others are better at producing.

Yep, you work and they take money from your income, then you use that money to buy a head of broccoli, which is taxed, then you put that broccoli in your fridge, which requires taxed electricity to run, you eat said broccoli to fuel your body, so that you can work for more taxed income. Want to go on a refreshing hike up your local mountain? guess what there is a person in a box that demands twenty $ for the day, and you better not snack on any herbs on the trail, or you'll have to pay a fine...

There is no real poverty in scandinavian countries. Sure, some people have more money than others, but everyone can afford clothes, a place to live, food, etc. And youre not stuck in the bottom cause your parents cant afford to send you to college. And there are almost no homeless people, and those that are homeless are either homeless because they want to (those exist) or because theyre claustrophobic or psychotic and cant stand being inside for whatever reason. And those people get help.

Take a look at north european countries, scandinavian countries in particular. They use a model called "Free market socialism" They have high taxes. Especially for the rich. These taxes are used by the government on free education, college included, free healthcare, lots of help for the weakest members of society, pensions for the elderly, etc. Its not communism. people still own their own stuff. Rich people can still afford more things than others, so theres still incentive to work hard.

Then you can afford things like free healthcare for everyone, free education, and more. Its the poor that gain from taxes. Not the rich.

Government says you must pay for their "services" even though you have no choice in whether or not you use their "services" since they are the only ones that are allowed to provide it(because they say so). If you do not pay they will steal your property, throw you in jail or kill you. Political power grows at the barrel of a gun.

There was once a time when people were self-sufficient, could hunt and gather our own food, barter for things we needed like tools and weapons. People helped one another, everyone had a place that made the community thrive. Today, things like that are deemed socialist and wrong and anyone who thinks things would be better that way is said to be "evil"

Though I disagree about being self sufficient. It doesn't mean you're capable of ANYTHING. There will always be people with a natural talent in one area while others do well in another, by choice or simply a matter of convenience. ( Just because you know how, doesn't mean you can catch fresh ocean lobster or fish in your backyard in Iowa.) Even if you get and breed the lobsters/fish in some giant salt-water tank or farm, it has to come from somewhere else first.

My argument wasn't one against trade, but against self-sufficiency. :) I don't think it's attainable or desirable. A certain degree of self-sufficiency can be achieved, but we always benefit from helping eachother out and trading with eachother.

I'm not saying people are interdependent. Of course some people could manage (for a while at least) to be entirely independent and self-sufficient. What I'm saying is that everyone is better of is people don't attempt to be self-sufficient. If they instead trade with eachother, everyone involved will benefit. They don't even have to work together with a common goal to achieve maximum results. They just have to avoid using violence against eachother, cause even enemies benefit when shaking hands.

In other words, no matter how self-sufficient we are, what we accomplish as one far outweighs anything we can accomplish on our own.
Self sufficiency just means we won't be a burden on anyone. What we want is a bunch of people who can look after themselves working together.

Although, unlike most anarchists, I don't believe communities require collective ownership, equality in possessions, and all that. Humans prosper working together, and a society is just a large number of individuals working together, not with a common goal, but with their own motivations and goals, prospering from the self-interest of others in the process.

One town could have salt deposits, and could trade with people who want it but in their own sufficiency have other goods to trade with it.

Of course some people will have access to some resources and others to other resources, and some individuals will be better or worse at producing certain goods, and will trade the goods they are good at producing for goods others are better at producing.

if u work there's no reason to get foodstamps - which is the same as all paper money. all the paper in the world is worth nothing unless you can trade something for it. the rulers want people on foodstamps because it empowers them, not you. they can just point and say see, people need us because they can't do things for themselves. its not about the rich, its about the rulers vs the oppressed.
