I saw them live in 1981 at The Ritz in New York City, and then at The Hammerstein Ballroom in New York City in 1998. I've loved them since I first heard "Autobahn" late at night on WNEW-FM 102.7 in 1974. It's great stuff.
I was about 5 when this came out and my dad played it to me a couple of years later. It is still in my top 10 songs ever, even after 20 years of loving and listening to house/acid/techno/hardcore/rave/drum and bass. Its amazing because of its simplicity and ] timeless electro funkyness..love it!!
you are the shit, my friend!!! thank you for posting this cool video. by far, the most enjoyable version of numbers i've seen so far.......recuerdos de mi adolescencia.
i was 16 when this shit came out and im 45 now and love this music i used to mix the shit out of this track with planet rock and play at your own risk
This song is the best out of all of them for me anywayz!! im only 14 and i just heard kraftwerk and they sound like they've made music for this century, and to me, they sound great. i heard them from my dad cos he loves kraftwerk. he will never stop listening to them! EMMENCE SONG!!!!!
One of the greastest tracks ever if you are a turntablest you know what I'm talking about I used to mix out of Section 25 Looking From a Hilltop (megamix) into this track
I had a 12" single of Numbers and Pocket Calculator in German and English and both sides of the sleve were the same except one side was in Japanese, just like your promo 12". I think I finally got the album months later and was blown away.
@vinyl12s Thanks for the info! I've seen any of the Ortofon Concode Series DJS Pro cartridge on every YouTube channel, but mine is a GE C660 ceramic cartridge with an airplane shaped LP stylus. It is most common on any GE record players, including mine is the Wildcat, but it has the GE logo on top of the tonearm.
This song, intertwined with "Trans Europe Express" created the hip-hop classic "Planet Rock"......just a little music trivia......give Kraftwerk credit for giving Afrika Bammbaata the inspiration.
@tljones9 know the way the story goes afrika bammbaata got the inspiration for planet rock by copying this classic song and slowing it down a little go back and listen to each song you will see planet rock is a slower version of numbers but nice indeed give respect where respect due to the british did it first
the album totally changed the way i heard music 30 years ago. thank you. its so mesmerising no? also, it could have been the chronic back then too. =)
