If you think the Buell is a bad bike it"s because you never spent a lot of time riding one.its not the fastest bike, the most expensive,it was made to not to be like other bikes.easy to maintain, fun to ride, that's all.while some of the early bikes didn't live up to this.the later models did. ask the people who owned one.most liked it.
i had a cyclone in late 96 and loved it, the old buell's did it for me.i do like the new engined buell's but its the harley "thing" i think. i liked the sound after lossing the big airbox and massey ferguson exhaust. i had the s1 headers and a V&H er silencer
and carb mod. i think i had about 6 or 7 recalls.things like the front disk the rear shock and the swing arm could snap oh and the best one if some old biffer pulls out on you the fuel tank may detach and incinerate the poor old gent.
@brybish i bought mine from dock gate 20 MC's as far as i know i bought the first cyclone. they had there faults (many) and a lot of recalls but it was a nice bike to ride.
they should get a building to pile all the jackass dickbags who don't know shit about motorcycles and just bash on what they "think" they know. And pour gas on it set it on fire. A motorcycle is a motorcycle! Big Fuckin deal who rides what. Just because you got a small penis doesn't mean you have to bash on a bike you know nothing about.
Because you dumbass there is absolutely no damn reason to ride around making that much noise, unless YOU have a small penis and need to tell the whole world.
And furthermore that engine is ridiculous to put into a sport bike chassis. Its the equivilent of installing a John Deere tractor engine in a Nascar. I happen to know ALOT about that bike, and that is why I bash it. Idiots like you take pride in riding something all others laugh at. When you figure that out then you will be enlightened.
What I would like to know is if u hate Buell do much why do you even watch the video. I have three Buells and I love riding them. I have two with the old relic engine and a new 1125CR with the rotax. If you don't like it fine, but there's no reason to bash other peoples pride and joy.
Funny thing is I own a Buell XB12XTand a Yamaha FZ-1!. Both great bikes, in different ways. It's the Buell that gets my soul stirring. It's the bike I want to ride.
People who feel like they have to tell everyone their opinion are hilarious to me. If you don't like the bike maxrider, quit searching for it on youtube. Go search for the ones you like and jack off to em! =) God speed!
Jesus....lol your comments are actually amusing. Reading how you get so into telling others your insults and how you are superior in everything you do. You're like an "anti buell activist" aren't you?
I wish you guys would have had the experiences I have had riding all the different sport bikes, then you would understand where I come from. I have been around bikes all my life and to this day cannot understand the fantasy that some of you have with this noise making Vtwin fart machine. In a distance it sounds like an on-going fart if you didn't already know. I have rode state of the art bikes that are so linear in power that one could not help but to fall in love. Get off those things
I really don't buy your claim that you have been around bikes your whole life. Why? You are so narrow minded that it is hard to believe that you have any experience on any bike let alone many "different sport bikes". You are comparing a street machine that makes low end power to modern sport bikes with turbine-like power bands. To compare and bash either one is insanely uneducated. You need to step back, do more track days, learn how to actually ride hard instead of bashing another man's ride.
I have been on Road America, and Brainerd Minnesota tracks. I have spent many a dollar on tires. Your experience referring to "turbine like power bands" is telling me you have rode an R1. Not all inlines are gutless on low end. The Gsxr's have a much more linear powerband, with tons of low end torque. The difference is it also has a decent powerband rather then a little narrow one only found down low. I have had the opportunity to ride nearly all sportbikes. Buells are a discrace to sportbikes
I don't buy your claim that you have any idea how engines work whatsoever, if you did you wouldn't have wrote something this stupid. To defend a bike that is using ancient technology, an engine that is as sophisticated as a tractor engine really makes you look smart. Well sir I work with engines every day, thats all I do now and I can honestly tell you that this type of engine should have been retired back in the 40's. No other machine known to man would be acceptable to have this much vibration
I dont know what your arguing about but saying this engine should have been retired is the stupidest thing ive ever heard. theres a reason it wasnt. harley (ie buells) outnumber ever other bike in the world when it comes to sales. think theres a reason for that. yes inline 4's are nice and have their purpose but pushrod vtwins are so incredibly popular that they will never go away even with the vrod motor introduction.
You are not unique in your "dislike" of HD engines. You think you are knowledgeable just because you rant and rave about this "ancient" technology? Every half-wit jackass knows that HD engines have not made significant technological strides in the last few decades. Who cares if you work on engines? I race, and I respect anyone on two wheels. You even told me that Yamaha screwed up the VMax - by what, putting a 200hp engine into it? Wow, and you claim to be in the know. You are a sad individual.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
You dumbass, Yamaha didn't put a 200 horse engine in it, look it up. They fucked up because they increased its weight by nearly 100 lbs, kept the way too small fuel tank, and went 18 inch rubber so you hardly have any choices for tires, making you fork out much more cash to buy rubber. And with that much weight, spinning the tire is all it will do, so get ready to buy tires! And being a "half wit jackass" I still know harleys are piles of shit, including the Buell which really tops the heap.
@themaxrider dear friend ..I got the point of american bikes, and the fact that they can't do better... asking yourself... why... andyou are rigth ... like i wrote you before.. i'm a real italian even if I married a canadian and i'm living in montreal... my only answer about why some of us like the buell i just becouse erik tried to do something better... it is not our faultif americans ar not good enough to build sport bikes.. and you'r rigth even about small countyes buldng better bikes...
@themaxrider ...so.... have fun with your japanese bike.. 'caus i can still be proud to be Italian and proud of Italians bikes. but at the same time,,, why you dn't try to build an pure american bike ..like that you could be proud too. i still ride my ducati 851 ME!!! but .. let m tell you something , a motorcyclist it suppose to be another member of abig family, the real deal is brotherhood, and not the needs of speed and how much a bike is loud or perfect...I LOVE YOU BIKERS..
Seeing you guys waste your time with a bike that requires as much repair time as it does riding time really makes one question the motive. Most everyone experienced in the motorcycle world knows that these are seriously a bad joke. The Vtwin engine is so much NOT a sport bike engine, that the only way to compare is putting a John Deere tractor engine in a race car. For some reason making noise became more popular then the sportbike experience itself.
again, pure ignorance. v twin's do belong, ever heard of ducati? even suzuki has vtwin sport bikes.... they were never meant to be a strong force in moto gp but a more performance based harley with a sport bike rider position for those that wanted it.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
Saying the engine should be retired is exactly what harley is trying to do but boobs like you are too stupid to buy them rather then their old forsaken junk. They created the Vrod to try to compete with what other companies have had for power output since the late 70's. But very few sell because of ignorance. The Rotax powered Buell is the same story. Now they give them away to get rid of them. Its too late now harley dropped Buell. They should have way back already rather then produce that shit
@blackjesusnation splitting hairs to the general population. but if you want to split hairs, it would be "an L-twin" .....to be technically correct :P
You'd think that "themaxrider" is some young kid but he's, what, in his 40's. I haven't read as much useless posts anywhere, ever! I'm a member of a lot of forums and he has the rudest and most un-needed replies to date. You'd expect this from a teen but a grown man? lol. I suppose he's going to comment wanting to race me or kick my ass or something. I've read a rude comment on a lot of Buell vid's here. He must have been fired from a Buell dealership...that or beat up a lot as a child.
You can call my posts anything you want if it makes you feel better. I comment on quite a few videos not just Buell. I comment on anything that leads guys like you to purchase them in order to get attention. Yes we know you had issues as a child, but to try to make up for it riding clown bikes that make noise in order to try in vain to get people to look at you is just wrong. Usually you guys are short, and have a lot of insecurity issues. Its quite common and annoying. Everyone else knows
noise is simply aftermarket, all bikes in the us (where buells are manufactured) must pas the same EPA noise emissions test as the GSXR's you jerk off too.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
First off I'd like some of what you are smoking. You think just because they sold a pile of pushrod Vtwins that makes it a great engine? Wow did the hook go deep in your cheek. When such better engines are in use then a single throw Vtwin, (in case you don't know that means they share the same journel on the crankshaft) and whats worse share the same rod position. This engine is still in use because folks like you care more about noise and showing off then the actual performance of the bike.
I'm sorry but the only "jerk off" is you. I didn't bash all Vtwins I only bash the ones that are created purely for the sake of parading around like a retard making noise to try in vain to catch the attention of others that really couldn't give a flyin shit what you are riding on. Other companies produce Vtwins that actually create more power then noise. Even harley admitted it wasn't worth a shit when they created the Vrod from Porshe and use a ROTAX in the Buell. What does that say?
Lol I smell testosterone and lots of it. I'm sure there's plenty of bikes faster than my Buell but it's been a great bike and I love it. Thats my 2 Australian cents worth!
I can appreciate the exhaust you chose as it probably will not break off as easily as the others do from the abnormal vibration patterns this engine generates. I would imagine you have repaired many things on this bike as they break off as others do. Can you keep your tail light from breaking off or how about it blowing oil out? Erick Buell should be bitch slapped for every using a harley engine to power a rocket chassis. What the hell could he be thinking. Now they use Rotax but its too late.
loud bike. well then again what else do you expect from an american motorcycle. i'm guessing thats one of the older buelss since the gas in frame thing is non existant there
You have to be frickin kiddin me, "thunder"?? Sounds like a pathetic attempt and desperately trying to stay running! Absolute junk! The people of this great country should be ashamed to have anything to do with this type of poorly engineered and operating machinery! Hell I don't know anyone that would buy any other machine that runs that damn badly! One throw on the crank, both rods comming out of each other, its hideous. How is it the Japanese and Germans can out do everything we make?
I've been a rider and mechanic for 30 years, I've ridden and worked on most makes of motorcycles during that time and can speak from experience that Buells are fun to ride and engineered as well as any other bike made. Just because they are engineered differently and you can't understand why, doesn't mean it's wrong... it means that you don't understand the design or the riding style for which it is designed.
As for German and Japanese engineering, their best can be found on the ocean's floor.
Its funny you should comment on your riding experience and mechanical experience. I too have the same time including own a machineshop. I have riddin the Buells and I have worked on them sad to say. I know a guy with two of the damn Godforsaken pieces of shit. I made the mistake of goin on vacation with him and being the mechanic ended up fixing the damn things every damn day we rode! Funny we all ride Japanese and we don't have these problems, and we can pass him up easily.
Does it give you some sort of pleasure to think your machine is "American" when in fact many of the parts are not if you did not know. I don't fall for this shit, I buy the most machine I can buy for the money forget the name on the side. If you want to be a hero to yourself then continue to support products that are unworthy of others because you feel they support us. I am embarassed to know the rest of the word sees this shit we make and can't even race in superbike, AMA or anything else.
Doesn't it bother you to know that American riders HAVE to ride imports in order to compete on the race tracks? Are we that arrogant or just stupid to buy bikes that are this bad? I don't want to be associated with the crowd if the crowd is this retarded. Other machines are like a magic carpet ride compared to a vibrating noise making pile of hardware store bolts as these are. Wake the fuck up and see what you are supporting. Wave good bye to this type of product and tell harley to fuck off
Ride whatever you want, I couldn't care less... just so you know, Buell's are made to ride on the street and are not necessarily a competition bike (except of course their racing bikes).
As for me, I prefer American machines, and I dare you to try to pass me on your Jap bike.
You completely missed my point. I know Buells are made to ride the street (barely) but so are all the others. How can you deny that you get much better technology, reliability and safety etc on other brands? I wouldn't rip on stuff like this for no reason, I do so because I can't believe that anyone is dumb enough to be buy it. And as far as "dare me to pass you" One of my bikes is a Hayabusa, so please try to tell me I can't pass you, as I wave bye bye to you in my mirrors. Are you stupid?
And as long as you are on the "pass me" bullshit, I'd be willin to bet you that nearly every 600cc built from 01' up will pass nearly any Buell modified or not. While not everything is about being fast, it is about having the capability to go fast if you want to, and have a linear predictable power band. Wake up and see what is out there for machines, don't limit yourself to "riding American" because you are trying to be loyal. Companies laugh their way to the bank because of guys like you.
Then put your money where your little keyboard is... I am at the Beech Bend Raceway every time the bike drag races are in town... I will run you one pass through title for title, I will bring my Harley and you can bring any legally titled bike you've got and I will own your bike in just an 1/8 mile.
Look up the Denver Drags a few years ago when harley made the mistake of letting anyone of any cc run against the multi-million dollar Vrod dragster. Guess who won? A privately owned 81' Suzuki Gs1100. Can you imagine the embarassment?? Racing your harley against a Stock Hayabusa would be funny enough, but then who owns a stock one! You my friend are a joke and obviously retarded. If I lived closer you could damn bet I'd be there but then what the fuck would I do with a POS harley after I won it
Like all harley riders all you can do is talk shit. I have ran into this over and over. I have witness harley guys cheer when their bikes dynoed at 100 + horse. Right afterwards a 600 cc Gsxr did 125 and not a peep out of them. WHY NOT? In your world you think that 100 horse is power, in my world thats half of what I am used to. When you pay good money to end up with a noisy vibrating gutless motorcycle I guess what can you say huh. Rev it each chance you get some little kid might look.
If you rode anything other then junk all these years you would understand and appreciate what a bike is like that can rev to 16500 and idle smooth under a Grand. The useable power is incredible and effortless to ride at any speed or any gear. You have your head stuck so far up your ass if you were to remove it and ride some metric bikes then you would understand as I have how backwards the Buell or anything else harley has anything to do with really is. Sad its assembled here it shouldn't be.
FYI nearly 20 years ago I used to 1/8 mile drag my Vmax. Way back then I turned 6.70 which was bad for riding it there and using stock tires and pump gas. That was an old tech Vmax for Christ sake made back in 85' it weighed in at 619lbs! A Busa weighs in at 500 and is chain drive and has much more power in stock form. Who the hell you trying to kid trying to race against that. I kicked harley ass everytime I raced the Vmax, its a turd compared to a stock Busa. Get out and see sometime.
Wanna do something funny sometime? Look up the NHRA rules on racing harleys. It states that any other company has to be half the cc then its competing harley. Why do you suppose this is? If harley was worth a shit, they would be able to compete wouldn't they? Check out a Ducati V twin sometime, they are REAL engines. The Vrod is a move in the right direction but most harley people reject it. Go figure. You being loyal is laughable, and until you quit that nothing will change. Think about it.
I don't have to look up the rules, I know them very well. The Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green , Ky. is near here and I attend the races regularly. I am also quite familiar with Ducati, Augusta, Yamaha, etc., these are road race bikes, not drag bikes.
The Buell is not a drag bike, nor is the VRod, they are street bikes made to deliver the maximum torque and HP at street riding RPMs between 2500-4500 RPM for example. They do very well for the type of riding they are designed for.
Road race bikes? What the hell do you smoke? Both Kawi and Suzuki build drag bikes that can double as road bikes. Thus the Busa and ZX14. You are correct when you tell the powerband to be a whopping 2000rpm. Tad narrow isn't it? I can ride any metric liter bike to a Busa and have as much torque just off idle as you do max. This linear power band is what makes the bikes effortless to ride and allows me to come into town in 6th gear idle through and be gone again without downshifting.
And yes you should look up the rules, any sactioned NHRA pro even has these rules and enforces them. People don't know, they think harley actually competes against the metrics, how funny. These bikes you mention can't get out of the way of the cars on the road, hell most harleys can be outran by a Ford Explorer. If no other bikes existed then we would all be stuck riding shit like that. Thank God other bike companies use technology rather then poser points to design their products!
Since you are so smart I challenge you to do something I have asked MANY harley lovers to do. I'd like you to tell me one innovation that harley came up with that no other company has had before them? Come on I dare you. Don't list noise because that is all that is. I'd lay off if someone could tell me something that harley has done to make motorcycles better and safer etc... You guys are all the same, you live in a sheltered ego world that is easily shattered. Sorry to hurt your ego.
Thats funny those brakes aren't duped by anyone else because they don't work. Any recalls?? Fuel in frame? You have got to be kidding? That is innovative? How so? Keep trying, don't just list what Erik has cried about when he posted his going out of business video. Lets talk engine. How is that import Vtwins have more output. Why is it that Buell went to Rotax and harley went to Porshe to make something better? Can't do it themselves? Take off the blinders. My old Vmax would still eat it up.
I'm done with your nonsense, unless you are willing to race you will not get any more of my attention.
Your comments impress nobody here, you are likely just some cowardly kid with a keyboard and never even ridden a motorcycle. Look me up if wanna race kid.
Like I am going to haul a bike cross country to race some idiot that probably wouldn't even be there when I got there. Sure I will lock up shop and come right over. Keep talking shit, you are pretty good at it. I stated some facts and info that you can't even answer to because you know its the truth and yet you defend these bikes. How about the point that they used ROTAX engines now? Is that American? Yes you still defend them? What part of the bike is American? I'd say the majority is import
The ONLY reason you are done with anything is because you don't have anything to say. I understand that you don't have the answers how could you. What you don't understand is that I know these bikes inside out I have had them apart I know what they are made of. I also have worked with the imports and can tell you there is a big difference in quality. Thus why I waste my time on here in the first place. People have the right to know. No comparison whatsoever in quality to the imports.
@themaxrider i SAID.... 100 KM PER HOURS... NOT MILES,,( THEN HE WONDE WHY AMERICAN CAN'T BULD BETTER BIKS... SOME LIKE HIM THEY DON'T KNOW HOW TO READ!!!! O TO 100 KM H IN 3.35 ENOGH FOR A BUELL!!!
U clearly are a dick, and need to seriously get a life and tell someone that actually cares, this is a lush bike, and has alot more than 100 horse, and would put u 2 shame!!!
Haha you goof, I have had bikes with a 100 plus horse for 20 years. You have NO idea what real power is you are getting confused with noise. And YES you are the winner with that! Why you guys feel the need to make noise only tells me and everyone else that you have a disorder. Most of the time its because your mother ignored you too much. Well sorry about that, but as far as bikes are concerned you need to grow up a bit. Just because people turn and look doesn't mean they aprove. You annoy.
@themaxrider I have 145hp on dyno bench , wiseco pistons 12:1 and still just 73 inc cube. zero to 100 in 3 seconds.35 and i ride every day like you doin your stereotyped v max
@nikeandros I think you are speaking of the "arm chair" dyno. When I read zero to 100 in three seconds, I just have to fall off my fucking chair laughing.
Are you fucking kiddin us? You will run 1st gear on a Buell in 3 seconds which is about 30 mph if you wind well into red-line! When you finally shift into second gear, CLUNK, now you will be winding up second to about 50, CLUNK , then third to 70 Clunk, you get the picture. How bout you post a video of the heap of shit doi it?
@themaxrider this was long before the fuel in the tank years.I have been riding for over 20 years and have a 97 s1 lightning with many mods these bikes are thumpers! As far as the brakes yea the front free floaters are a bit noisey but have awesome stopping power and the rears were years ahead of thier times and they were copied by other manufactures
@themaxrider The Buell lightning is a badass bike. It may not be as fast as a gixer bullshit, but it is wayy sweeter. It is unique its it's own awesome way. The xb12scg has a 1200cc fucking motor and is soo small. The only other bike I would want is a NCR Leggera 1200 special.
@1tokeover just why the hell would you want that worthless as fuck engine, when so many sweeter engines exist?
"it may not be as fast as a gixer bullshit" ??? Well there you go, you just don't understand the whole picture. Eric dropped that engine for a fucking reason, it wasn't worth a shit! Get over it. If you were to experience other sport bikes you would understand.
@themaxrider buell start the production after he won a championship race.. the year after in the gp. they made up all kind of rules to eliminate buell. thy dit i. so h started a production to show the world that even with a old engine like a sportster with not updates can still ride free... free of discrimination . asshole!!!harley davidson ruels. (if you want to blind in.. take the bus!!!
@nikeandros "Won a championship race" Do you realize it was against 600 and 750s using an 1125 ROTAX engine? Fair to use twice the cc's to beat much smaller engines? Is that fair to you? Then to bring up the "Sportster" engine, well lets talk about that for a minute. The great hardly-a-motorcycle has been building Vtwins for how damn long? And thats all they have to show for it? Compare it to Ducati, 180 horse out of their Vtwins and this is what an engine made in the USA can do?
@themaxrider woah woah the 1125r raced aginst race prepped 600 and 750s... i think if you looked at the hp numbers you would see they were about even. erickbuellracing also uses a 180hp 1190 vtwin rotax engine in one of their race bikes but just like the ducati, its high compression and not really good for street use.
harley builds a air-cooled pushrod engine. much different than an ohc vtwin that can rev to 11-12k.... There are guys making 120+ hp on 1250 harley vtwins with pump gas...
@themaxrider sorry to anwer you just now... but i'll like to advise you to have some respect for who ... with a old engine like a sportster was able to obtain 98 hp and with some modification even 125hp sporsters hav now more than 50 years , ... for erik buell was a dream and he realized it.. harley was proud and than stab in te back buell ... shameon you!! respect the old scool like i respect yours... i have ducati's and all kind of japanesebike. guzzi and aprilia.. do you? mister biker?
@nikeandros None of the numbers you post are something worth mentioning. What you fail to understand is this is what we have to show the rest of the world. THIS IS AMERICAN SPORTBIKE??? Give me a break. Its embarassing to think that our guys have to ride imports to race don't you think? When people like you embrace this crap, you are basically saying its ok to make this stuff cause we are dumb enough to buy it when much better bikes exist. Hell tiny countries are making awesome bikes!
@themaxrider come on max is not that bad!!! i just came here in North america... i come fron europo... I know wath you meant..about better bikes.. but you can try to accept the effort that Erik buell did... don't you? be kind!! i have a Buell too.. is not that bad.... is still a good bike.. that let you feel the same sensations when you share the road with your friend,, or when you have a mechanical problem.. be bikers is all about it ... you don't think so?
Your mate could you to grow a few inches :P

I really don't buy your claim that you have been around bikes your whole life. Why? You are so narrow minded that it is hard to believe that you have any experience on any bike let alone many "different sport bikes". You are comparing a street machine that makes low end power to modern sport bikes with turbine-like power bands. To compare and bash either one is insanely uneducated. You need to step back, do more track days, learn how to actually ride hard instead of bashing another man's ride.
asphyx9 2 years ago
I have been on Road America, and Brainerd Minnesota tracks. I have spent many a dollar on tires. Your experience referring to "turbine like power bands" is telling me you have rode an R1. Not all inlines are gutless on low end. The Gsxr's have a much more linear powerband, with tons of low end torque. The difference is it also has a decent powerband rather then a little narrow one only found down low. I have had the opportunity to ride nearly all sportbikes. Buells are a discrace to sportbikes
themaxrider 2 years ago
I don't buy your claim that you have any idea how engines work whatsoever, if you did you wouldn't have wrote something this stupid. To defend a bike that is using ancient technology, an engine that is as sophisticated as a tractor engine really makes you look smart. Well sir I work with engines every day, thats all I do now and I can honestly tell you that this type of engine should have been retired back in the 40's. No other machine known to man would be acceptable to have this much vibration
themaxrider 2 years ago
I dont know what your arguing about but saying this engine should have been retired is the stupidest thing ive ever heard. theres a reason it wasnt. harley (ie buells) outnumber ever other bike in the world when it comes to sales. think theres a reason for that. yes inline 4's are nice and have their purpose but pushrod vtwins are so incredibly popular that they will never go away even with the vrod motor introduction.

honda sells more motorcycles than any other company every year
skaterbs 2 years ago
You are not unique in your "dislike" of HD engines. You think you are knowledgeable just because you rant and rave about this "ancient" technology? Every half-wit jackass knows that HD engines have not made significant technological strides in the last few decades. Who cares if you work on engines? I race, and I respect anyone on two wheels. You even told me that Yamaha screwed up the VMax - by what, putting a 200hp engine into it? Wow, and you claim to be in the know. You are a sad individual.

@themaxrider dear friend ..I got the point of american bikes, and the fact that they can't do better... asking yourself... why... andyou are rigth ... like i wrote you before.. i'm a real italian even if I married a canadian and i'm living in montreal... my only answer about why some of us like the buell i just becouse erik tried to do something better... it is not our faultif americans ar not good enough to build sport bikes.. and you'r rigth even about small countyes buldng better bikes...
nikeandros 1 year ago
@themaxrider ...so.... have fun with your japanese bike.. 'caus i can still be proud to be Italian and proud of Italians bikes. but at the same time,,, why you dn't try to build an pure american bike ..like that you could be proud too. i still ride my ducati 851 ME!!! but .. let m tell you something , a motorcyclist it suppose to be another member of abig family, the real deal is brotherhood, and not the needs of speed and how much a bike is loud or perfect...I LOVE YOU BIKERS..
nikeandros 1 year ago
Seeing you guys waste your time with a bike that requires as much repair time as it does riding time really makes one question the motive. Most everyone experienced in the motorcycle world knows that these are seriously a bad joke. The Vtwin engine is so much NOT a sport bike engine, that the only way to compare is putting a John Deere tractor engine in a race car. For some reason making noise became more popular then the sportbike experience itself.
themaxrider 2 years ago
again, pure ignorance. v twin's do belong, ever heard of ducati? even suzuki has vtwin sport bikes.... they were never meant to be a strong force in moto gp but a more performance based harley with a sport bike rider position for those that wanted it.

@roycehellion ducati is a L twin

KatWax25 2 years ago
You can call my posts anything you want if it makes you feel better. I comment on quite a few videos not just Buell. I comment on anything that leads guys like you to purchase them in order to get attention. Yes we know you had issues as a child, but to try to make up for it riding clown bikes that make noise in order to try in vain to get people to look at you is just wrong. Usually you guys are short, and have a lot of insecurity issues. Its quite common and annoying. Everyone else knows
themaxrider 2 years ago
noise is simply aftermarket, all bikes in the us (where buells are manufactured) must pas the same EPA noise emissions test as the GSXR's you jerk off too.
roycehellion 2 years ago 3
This comment has received too many negative votes show
First off I'd like some of what you are smoking. This engine is still in use because folks like you care more about noise and showing off then the actual performance of the bike.
themaxrider 2 years ago
I'm sorry but the only "jerk off" is you. I didn't bash all Vtwins I only bash the ones that are created purely for the sake of parading around like a retard making noise to try in vain to catch the attention of others that really couldn't give a flyin shit what you are riding on. Other companies produce Vtwins that actually create more power then noise. Even harley admitted it wasn't worth a shit when they created the Vrod from Porshe and use a ROTAX in the Buell. What does that say?
themaxrider 2 years ago
Lol I smell testosterone and lots of it. I'm sure there's plenty of bikes faster than my Buell but it's been a great bike and I love it. Thats my 2 Australian cents worth!
1finkrat 2 years ago 2
100HP at 4000RPM. And over 100 pounds of torque at 2000 RPM. The 600s don't hit torque under 5K+.
fishgutzy 2 years ago
I can appreciate the exhaust you chose as it probably will not break off as easily as the others do from the abnormal vibration patterns this engine generates. I would imagine you have repaired many things on this bike as they break off as others do. Can you keep your tail light from breaking off or how about it blowing oil out? Erick Buell should be bitch slapped for every using a harley engine to power a rocket chassis. What the hell could he be thinking. Now they use Rotax but its too late.
themaxrider 2 years ago
loud bike. well then again what else do you expect from an american motorcycle. i'm guessing thats one of the older buelss since the gas in frame thing is non existant there
choopdewoot 2 years ago
Buells are great fun, and yes they do sound like thunder !
americanmademachines 2 years ago
You have to be frickin kiddin me, "thunder"?? Sounds like a pathetic attempt and desperately trying to stay running! Absolute junk! The people of this great country should be ashamed to have anything to do with this type of poorly engineered and operating machinery! Hell I don't know anyone that would buy any other machine that runs that damn badly! One throw on the crank, both rods comming out of each other, its hideous. How is it the Japanese and Germans can out do everything we make?
themaxrider 2 years ago
I've been a rider and mechanic for 30 years, I've ridden and worked on most makes of motorcycles during that time and can speak from experience that Buells are fun to ride and engineered as well as any other bike made. Just because they are engineered differently and you can't understand why, doesn't mean it's wrong... it means that you don't understand the design or the riding style for which it is designed.
As for German and Japanese engineering, their best can be found on the ocean's floor.
americanmademachines 2 years ago
Its funny you should comment on your riding experience and mechanical experience. I too have the same time including own a machineshop. I have riddin the Buells and I have worked on them sad to say. I know a guy with two of the damn Godforsaken pieces of shit. I made the mistake of goin on vacation with him and being the mechanic ended up fixing the damn things every damn day we rode! Funny we all ride Japanese and we don't have these problems, and we can pass him up easily.
themaxrider 2 years ago
Does it give you some sort of pleasure to think your machine is "American" when in fact many of the parts are not if you did not know. I don't fall for this shit, I buy the most machine I can buy for the money forget the name on the side. If you want to be a hero to yourself then continue to support products that are unworthy of others because you feel they support us. I am embarassed to know the rest of the word sees this shit we make and can't even race in superbike, AMA or anything else.
themaxrider 2 years ago
Doesn't it bother you to know that American riders HAVE to ride imports in order to compete on the race tracks? Are we that arrogant or just stupid to buy bikes that are this bad? I don't want to be associated with the crowd if the crowd is this retarded. Other machines are like a magic carpet ride compared to a vibrating noise making pile of hardware store bolts as these are. Wake the fuck up and see what you are supporting. Wave good bye to this type of product and tell harley to fuck off
themaxrider 2 years ago
Ride whatever you want, I couldn't care less... just so you know, Buell's are made to ride on the street and are not necessarily a competition bike (except of course their racing bikes).
As for me, I prefer American machines, and I dare you to try to pass me on your Jap bike.
americanmademachines 2 years ago
You completely missed my point. I know Buells are made to ride the street (barely) but so are all the others. How can you deny that you get much better technology, reliability and safety etc on other brands? I wouldn't rip on stuff like this for no reason, I do so because I can't believe that anyone is dumb enough to be buy it. And as far as "dare me to pass you" One of my bikes is a Hayabusa, so please try to tell me I can't pass you, as I wave bye bye to you in my mirrors. Are you stupid?
themaxrider 2 years ago
And as long as you are on the "pass me" bullshit, I'd be willin to bet you that nearly every 600cc built from 01' up will pass nearly any Buell modified or not. While not everything is about being fast, it is about having the capability to go fast if you want to, and have a linear predictable power band. Wake up and see what is out there for machines, don't limit yourself to "riding American" because you are trying to be loyal. Companies laugh their way to the bank because of guys like you.
themaxrider 2 years ago
Then put your money where your little keyboard is... I am at the Beech Bend Raceway every time the bike drag races are in town... I will run you one pass through title for title, I will bring my Harley and you can bring any legally titled bike you've got and I will own your bike in just an 1/8 mile.
americanmademachines 2 years ago
Look up the Denver Drags a few years ago when harley made the mistake of letting anyone of any cc run against the multi-million dollar Vrod dragster. Guess who won? A privately owned 81' Suzuki Gs1100. Can you imagine the embarassment?? Racing your harley against a Stock Hayabusa would be funny enough, but then who owns a stock one! You my friend are a joke and obviously retarded. If I lived closer you could damn bet I'd be there but then what the fuck would I do with a POS harley after I won it
themaxrider 2 years ago
I'm not talking about somebody in Denver, I mean YOU. Bring your bike and I will own it.
americanmademachines 2 years ago
Like all harley riders all you can do is talk shit. I have ran into this over and over. I have witness harley guys cheer when their bikes dynoed at 100 + horse. Right afterwards a 600 cc Gsxr did 125 and not a peep out of them. WHY NOT? In your world you think that 100 horse is power, in my world thats half of what I am used to. When you pay good money to end up with a noisy vibrating gutless motorcycle I guess what can you say huh. Rev it each chance you get some little kid might look.
themaxrider 2 years ago
If you rode anything other then junk all these years you would understand and appreciate what a bike is like that can rev to 16500 and idle smooth under a Grand. The useable power is incredible and effortless to ride at any speed or any gear. You have your head stuck so far up your ass if you were to remove it and ride some metric bikes then you would understand as I have how backwards the Buell or anything else harley has anything to do with really is. Sad its assembled here it shouldn't be.
themaxrider 2 years ago
FYI nearly 20 years ago I used to 1/8 mile drag my Vmax. Way back then I turned 6.70 which was bad for riding it there and using stock tires and pump gas. That was an old tech Vmax for Christ sake made back in 85' it weighed in at 619lbs! A Busa weighs in at 500 and is chain drive and has much more power in stock form. Who the hell you trying to kid trying to race against that. I kicked harley ass everytime I raced the Vmax, its a turd compared to a stock Busa. Get out and see sometime.
themaxrider 2 years ago
Wanna do something funny sometime? Look up the NHRA rules on racing harleys. It states that any other company has to be half the cc then its competing harley. Why do you suppose this is? If harley was worth a shit, they would be able to compete wouldn't they? Check out a Ducati V twin sometime, they are REAL engines. The Vrod is a move in the right direction but most harley people reject it. Go figure. You being loyal is laughable, and until you quit that nothing will change. Think about it.
themaxrider 2 years ago
I don't have to look up the rules, I know them very well. The Beech Bend Raceway in Bowling Green , Ky. is near here and I attend the races regularly. I am also quite familiar with Ducati, Augusta, Yamaha, etc., these are road race bikes, not drag bikes.
The Buell is not a drag bike, nor is the VRod, they are street bikes made to deliver the maximum torque and HP at street riding RPMs between 2500-4500 RPM for example. They do very well for the type of riding they are designed for.
americanmademachines 2 years ago
Road race bikes? What the hell do you smoke? Both Kawi and Suzuki build drag bikes that can double as road bikes. Thus the Busa and ZX14. You are correct when you tell the powerband to be a whopping 2000rpm. Tad narrow isn't it? I can ride any metric liter bike to a Busa and have as much torque just off idle as you do max. This linear power band is what makes the bikes effortless to ride and allows me to come into town in 6th gear idle through and be gone again without downshifting.
themaxrider 2 years ago
And yes you should look up the rules, any sactioned NHRA pro even has these rules and enforces them. People don't know, they think harley actually competes against the metrics, how funny. These bikes you mention can't get out of the way of the cars on the road, hell most harleys can be outran by a Ford Explorer. If no other bikes existed then we would all be stuck riding shit like that. Thank God other bike companies use technology rather then poser points to design their products!
themaxrider 2 years ago
Since you are so smart I challenge you to do something I have asked MANY harley lovers to do. I'd like you to tell me one innovation that harley came up with that no other company has had before them? Come on I dare you. Don't list noise because that is all that is. I'd lay off if someone could tell me something that harley has done to make motorcycles better and safer etc... You guys are all the same, you live in a sheltered ego world that is easily shattered. Sorry to hurt your ego.
themaxrider 2 years ago
Here's 3 in just the last 5 years:
Perimeter brakes
Fuel in frame
Under frame exhaust
We could do this all night, but I really just want to win your motorcycle, you gonna put up or just keep running that mouth?
Let's race boy, I can't wait to make a BBQ pit out of that V-Max your screen name boasts!
americanmademachines 2 years ago
Thats funny those brakes aren't duped by anyone else because they don't work. Any recalls?? Fuel in frame? You have got to be kidding? That is innovative? How so? Keep trying, don't just list what Erik has cried about when he posted his going out of business video. Lets talk engine. How is that import Vtwins have more output. Why is it that Buell went to Rotax and harley went to Porshe to make something better? Can't do it themselves? Take off the blinders. My old Vmax would still eat it up.
themaxrider 2 years ago
I'm done with your nonsense, unless you are willing to race you will not get any more of my attention.
Your comments impress nobody here, you are likely just some cowardly kid with a keyboard and never even ridden a motorcycle. Look me up if wanna race kid.
americanmademachines 2 years ago
Like I am going to haul a bike cross country to race some idiot that probably wouldn't even be there when I got there. Sure I will lock up shop and come right over. Keep talking shit, you are pretty good at it. I stated some facts and info that you can't even answer to because you know its the truth and yet you defend these bikes. How about the point that they used ROTAX engines now? Is that American? Yes you still defend them? What part of the bike is American? I'd say the majority is import
themaxrider 2 years ago
The ONLY reason you are done with anything is because you don't have anything to say. I understand that you don't have the answers how could you. What you don't understand is that I know these bikes inside out I have had them apart I know what they are made of. I also have worked with the imports and can tell you there is a big difference in quality. Thus why I waste my time on here in the first place. People have the right to know. No comparison whatsoever in quality to the imports.

You annoy.

(if you want to blind in.. take the bus!!!
nikeandros 1 year ago
@nikeandros "Won a championship race" Do you realize it was against 600 and 750s using an 1125 ROTAX engine? Fair to use twice the cc's to beat much smaller engines? Is that fair to you? Then to bring up the "Sportster" engine, well lets talk about that for a minute. The great hardly-a-motorcycle has been building Vtwins for how damn long? And thats all they have to show for it? Compare it to Ducati, 180 horse out of their Vtwins and this is what an engine made in the USA can do?
themaxrider 1 year ago
@themaxrider woah woah the 1125r raced aginst race prepped 600 and 750s... i think if you looked at the hp numbers you would see they were about even. erickbuellracing also uses a 180hp 1190 vtwin rotax engine in one of their race bikes but just like the ducati, its high compression and not really good for street use.
harley builds a air-cooled pushrod engine. much different than an ohc vtwin that can rev to 11-12k.... There are guys making 120+ hp on 1250 harley vtwins with pump gas...
