@justin55723 Its pretty good when im questing its great no lag whatsoever, but all i have on it is wow, in cities its lower but still good. in a full alterac valley [40 People in a group] its good im a little laggy but its good. Overall its good for wow. I havent been in orgrimmar yet but in dalaran its not as good as questing . I like it :)
Can i ask the ownder of this video if you can tell me the framerate or post a video of world of warcraft at the lowest settings with resolution of 1024x768? Thanks!
@wowshamanful No it isn't.... It's okay for old world stuff 1-60 you'll do fine I wouldn't play it past that though as you'll see huge drops in performance. BC areas are "playable" but wrath are not worth it
Just chiming in to say the poster's numbers are fairly accurate. I installed WotLK on my 2.13Ghz SSD Air and found it to be quite playable. And Dalaran + Northrend don't run any slower than the older areas at all. Going to try it out in some 5-man dungeons tomorrow and maybe a 10-man raid. The funny thing is the difference between low and high settings in WoW isn't as dramatic as more powerful titles. I didn't really find it to be much of a "downgrade" from playing on my desktop
it's due to video compression (i.e. I was in window'd mode for the game and use video capturing software). Actual gameplay has no lag. If you had read the posted description you would have known that.
I have a Macbook Air & Macbook Pro (Non-Unibody version), iPhone and soooon once released the IPad... My wife has a Macbook Air as well and iTouch and soon Ipad.... (We like their products)
I love apple but own none of their products but hopefully getting a second hand macbook air or second hand macbook pro
what specs are on your macbook pro (like processor ram and graphics card also have you tested wow on it if so what fps did you get (sorry for the long question and all of them this should be the last)
yeah I was considering that as well, give me something to do since the weather sucks big time. Yeah I was really surprised on the performance as you recall I had tested greatly my now "wife's" machine that 1.6 Ghz\80Gb HDD and with that core shutdown and low frame rates I couldn't play it.
Although you still have the uber Mac Pro to play it on unless you trade up for the newer MBA's 1549$ for a refurb... or even the new 13 inch MBP's would have similar if not a bit better performance :)
no no, the new macbooks pro's have WORSE performance then the 1.6ghz air. i know it doesnt make sense, but trust me, i had the new macbook pro and it sucked, now i have a 2 year old air and it runs everything better
The Rev A (1.6Ghz) machine is very unplayable for WoW even in the older regions due to it's Core shutdown issues and integrated graphics card. (i.e it'll play for 5 minutes then become unplayable as the machine heats up)
the macbook air i get would be getting 1.86ghz to 2.13ghz what fps did you get around the wrath areas with the air? and the pro would be non unibody one
did not try any areas in WotLK on the air only the pro. But if you went MBA you'd need the 2.13 Ghz to play Wrath successfully per forums comments I've read. Best bet is still MBP or iMac with a 8600 or better.
i was thinking of just getting a MBA with 1.6ghz 120gb hard drive 2gb ram and nvidia 9400m card from apple refurbished and getting and imac from them aswell tell me what u think.
Yeah get a iMac for WoW and your set, I'd make sure it has a dedicated graphics card (I.e. something better than the 9400 for the iMac and it'll be awesome!)
And actually if you want something portable like the Air I would just wait for the iPad as it's cheaper and use that for on-the-go and get the iMac as your primary machine. I'll likely be replacing the air with the iPad
"If you want me to, pass me your account information" yeah sure, like im dumb enough to do that.

You can't say wow runs well if you show me a character running in stormwind! Show me you playing full effects end game content.

WoW runs nearly 60 fps on medium settings on a Fall 2009 Macbook (basically the entry-level Macbook Pro in a plastic shell)

Macbook Pro even second hand would be the best. Macbook Pro specs are as follows:
4 Gb ram (I think 667 Mhz)
2.4 Ghz Core 2 Duo
256 Mb 8600 Geforce Vid card
FPS = 40-80 FPS average (depending on zone)... newer content like Wrath was around 40's.
Let me know if you want to know anything else!
