I'll have one milk choc and one vanilla sugar ...and Orange, I never see orange, sounds good. Love a good orange cake. Very nice video. Greetings from NJ, USA!
@DownHomeCooking thanks! it's flattering seeing you here...i enjoy your channel very much. these donuts are...honestly to die for. simple is best, this is one of those recipes that truly honours that...i am sure you will love them as much as i do if you try them. :) i'd love to see you feature them in a video one day. :)
I was just looking at doing a recipe called buttons and bows. You fry up the doughnut holes and give the rings a twist to make the bow. It uses a yeast dough, but I think I like this one better. OOOOOhh look at them all decorated! I know where you bought the sprinkles ;)
I was just wondering how to fill them with jelly and there you are!
We will have to try these! My hubbie keeps talking of making donuts. It's one of his happiest childhood memories making donuts with his family. =) This looks like a great one to try!
@727JeffN One of the little girls in the neighbourhood had one and said, "They're better than Tim Hortons!" Needless to say, I was flattered to blushing! But we have our great-grandmothers to thank for preserving these old recipes. Like everything else, things were of better quality in the olden days, right down to fried dough. :) Donut chains don't last here, they all fold to the mighty Hortons. I miss Robin's Donuts and Country Style Donuts. They had better old-school donuts.
P.S. This donut is not "overly cake-y" like some old-fashioned donuts are. I'd say these taste like a cross between a yeast-risen donut and those bite-sized plain ones that come rolled in icing sugar. It is still light enough and the lard gives it a wonderful fried flavour.
I've never favourited one of my own videos before, but this one, I am. Why? Because these donuts have enhanced my world with their deliciousness. Forget all of the other vices, this is the only addiction one needs. I've never been able to say no to a donut.
About how many does this recipe make? I can't wait to try them. Darlene
