HIS VOICE IS FANTASTIC. I SAW HIM LAST WEEK ON HIS 86TH BIRTHDAY AT THE STAFFORD CENTRE. HE PLANS TO START RECORDING AGAIN. I'M SO HAPPY BECAUSE MY RECORDINGS ARE GETTING WORN.
Hank Thompson and the Brazzos Valley Boys....Bob Wills and The Texas Playboys... good bands but who plays them anymore the music industry has gone to shit and the audience has no taste... soooooooo pathetic !
ALL HII SUITS WERE MADE BY NUDIES OF HOLLYWOOD.THE FOLLOWING PLAYED IN HIS BAND OVER THE YEARS : ROGER MILLER,WILLIE NELSON,DARELL McCALL, ,JIMMIE DAY,JOHNNY BUSH,JUST TO NAME A FEW.HE HAD THE BEST DANCE BAND IN THE STATES,ALONG WITH HANK THOMPSON, AND BOB WILLS .THEY ARE THE BEST EVER . ALL TODAY'S SINGERS SOUND ALIKE AND SING THE SAME TYPE OF SONGS , AND ONLY 1% IS COUNTRY !!!
Nice to find finally out what recording this actually actually came from. I have this on a cassette that my father gave me almost 20 years ago, I think he got it at a truck stop somewhere in Missouri. By far my favorite version too.
This was when country music had feeling and meaning and was presented by artists who wasn't in it for the check. Look at Ray's attire! I saw Chesney on stage in torn fadded rags. Where is the self respect and pride?
This is the ONLY version of this song I have ever truly enjoyed. Can ANYONE PLEASE tell me what CD, Album, etc. this was from...? I've just got to have it....!!!
Sure, billmichael. It is from the 1971 CMA Album of the year, "I won't Mention it Again". Ray Price. You may be able to find it on Amazon. Good luck. I treasure it and glad you like it. C.
Wow, so glad to find this song ... bought the cd a number of years ago and someone lifted it at the ice rink.... cannot find this in the stores. Thanks so much for posting... I adore Ray's voice ... and this is my favorite song of his !
I heard both Kris' and Johnny's versions. Although Kris wrote the song, he does not have a great voice. I like Ray's version the best. Ray's voice actually makes me feel the mood and emotions evoked by Kris's words.
I loved them all, though Ray Price was not one of the "outlaws". Something about country western and opera that goes hand in hand, with me, at least. Thank you for commenting. C.
I remember this by Johnny Cash. Boy, Kris and the guys lead a tough life. Five speculative stars on getting off the Sunday morning sidewalk. Ingenuous John
I grew up in the late 60's and early 70's I my folks played a lot of Ray and I have seen Ray many times in person. I dont recall ever hearing this

I agree, eggrug, Ray had a beautiful voice. Both Johnny and Kris do sound like they had a wicked Saturday night, though. Thanks for the comment. C.
