for the tuning heads is it the same idea on a 000 style guitar? (like a martin 000) the tuners are the same idea but are all nickel plated. how much slack must you leave in the strings?
The d-string of my guitar broke, so I bought a new one & put it on, but I left all the other, older, strings there, since they still work fine. But now, the new d-string sounds pretty different than the one I had before. It has kinda more vibration to it. Do I have to change all the other strings too, when I change one? Or do I have to buy a different string? Cos I have a nylon-string guitar, & I bought an Augustino classical d-string. Or will the sound of the string change in a short time?
I have put steel strings on my classical guitar, worked fine, though I do have a decent guitar. However, I am now going back to the nylon strings again.
@HackDaaFoo090 - Usually you can't because of the way that the string attaches to the body of the guitar... for classical guitars the strings are typically tied to the bridge. - plus steel strings add lots of extra tension that nylon strings don't... so i would definitely not recommend it. (i've never seen anyone do that)
this might sound stupid but can i put nylon strings on an acoustic guitar i know u can put nylons on a classical or nylon guitar but i only have an acoustic and want that classical sound.
@lukpat1 - ahh yes, good point, I forgot to mention that yes you should cut off the excess string at the head of the guitar - but just be careful not to cut it TOO short, because sometimes the string will slip back through and you won't have enough length to work with - i always cut it leaving around half an inch or so.
@theBlackNeonxX - if your strings have a ball on one end, then you probably have steel strings. Do they look like they're made from steel? or are they somewhat clear like they're made from plastic / nylon? If you do have nylon strings that have a ball on one end, you can simply cut the ball off and tie the strings to the bridge of your guitar like I did in the video.
u don't need to cut it ... just put in a way that the ball stays attached to the bridge. It's waaay more practical and faster. Those strings have the balls to make ur life easier, not more difficult.
can nylon strings go on a regular acoustic?
thisgirlalexaa 2 weeks ago
@thisgirlalexaa they can - but you typically wouldn't do that... you may not be able to attach them to the bridge - just depends on your guitar
