The scientific definition punishment is something that, when it follows a behavior, causes a decrease in that behavior. That in mind, a likely result of punishment in a prey animal would probably be that he behavior would decrease or stop, and that the animal would run, hide or fight because, as you said, it scares them. Training with punishment has a bunch of drawbacks and is inefficient, even leaving out the ethical issues involved. It's still possible to train with it, but why bother?
I want this video! Im getting a filly in about a year and want a new, harmless way to approach teaching her. Its beautiful! Blanco is such great proof of how well this technique works. But does it work with horses who are old and already trained a certain way?
Beautiful, if ever, ever I get a horse (if I have the time) this is what I will go after. I've always thought something was missing when you ride the usual way. The contact between you and the horse. There's no real understanding just the " the rein pull were I go" sort of understanding, if you know what I mean.
And honestly.. thank God for no restrains. All those ropes... I always get it all the wrong way ending upp in a heap of rope with no use and a horse looking very confused;p
Hey seeing as you have the DVD, what does it tell you and help you and your horse do. my horse is getting old now and i want to do stuff with him on thr ground more. does the DVD show you how to make them rear and bow?
Hi Josie - this particular video is not directly about how to teach your horse tricks. However, it gives you the foundation of communication and relationship required before you teach tricks. We hope to produce a video on how to teach tricks without force or restraint in the near future. ~ Cynthia
