This is really amazing. This is a great guitar arrangement for the organ/harpsichord. What tuning are you using? And do you have tabs/any plans for making a lesson video? I would love to figure this out but it's a bit hard to see what is going on with your fingers in this video.
@htaylormusic: thanks a lot! i've seen your videos, and i think my version would be easy for you to play. i don't remember how the guitar was tuned. it is a standard-tuning but the whole guitar tuned down. Use wichever tuning you like. start with an a-minor-grip, the rest comes from there... i don't know how to write or explain tabs - maybe i should consider making a lesson-video. so many people asking ;)
Did you write this yourself??? I want to play the song for a concert, but i cant find a nice guitar sheet... it's the best cover of golden brown i ever heard!!!!!!
This is a great cover because of your gentle singing style, which is a strong characteristic of the original (in my opinion, it always stood out to me). Very well done, also you're not thrashing the guitar which is always nice to hear lol
I seen his boss playing on the guitar of this epic song and then I seen his face and figured this guys singing is gonna be so baritone badass and then he comes in fairly deep but with a lisp and I was just shocked and threw back the kind of manly essence he gave off at first. REGARDLESS. awesome cover (:
@StevenRossTv hahaha! well, i guess you're right. this was one of my first ever singing-attempts. hopefully i'd do better right now. maybe i'll give it another try, or just leave away the voice for you ;)
@Jayarbal Well it was awesome, I just expected your voice to be very deep, even though you do go quite low at one point. Still awesome though considering you do a really cool version on guitar plus you can sing at the same time which I still struggle to do while playing guitar. :\
@albertbcn25 wrong it's a song about marmite and the lyrics were akin to an aural Rorschach test. people only hear what they want to hear in the song but that's cool...
I thought/heard/was told that it may or may not be a song about heroin. Either way, just watched vid again, and while I almost had myself convinced that"I can learn this", the first change came up, and again I was impressed. Nice job bro
Ah! that's the wonder of the Internet and Youtube, and being talented. When people hear a good version they want to play it. People always ask for tabs.
I've gotten used to making out the chords the guitarist is playing from the vid. But i've not gotten into using alternative tunings.
You didn't have to go through all that trouble. It was a bit of humour. I should have known it was tuned down. It appears to be in Bminor in normal tuning. chords Bm F#m G then alternating Bm and A.
maybe, no clue! just thought to post that "kinda-tab", for you not beeing the first one asking. not asking, wondering, whatever. for a modest character like me it feels weird somehow to know people somewhere on the planet mind playing my stuff. just wanted to help y'all out a bit ;-)
I never ask for tabs. I've learnt pretty complex songs just watching the vids. I've got most of what you play, but in that filler... different notes are coming out from the strings your pressing. I can play it differently but I usually want to figure out what the player is doing.
If it turns out you're using non standard tuning... ! I am a very resourceful man, my friend.
Very nice version of a great tune. Is it a dusky maiden from far lands or cocaine?
@sferemonk: yes, guitar is tuned lower, due to deep voice... still quite high for me to sing ;-) i use no tabs, but will try to explain somehow tab-like. key: fingers/strings/fret/pickingfinger, ok?
fillers=intro, but single strings picked by 1,2 & 3. (+4 here and there, if u like, not necessary).
4th chord is like this (first 3 are easy, right?):
I love love love love i'm deeply in love with the parts between singing because they're kind of diffrent than the original version but your singing and this version are still great
Very good, I like this, I understand about not being able to do tabs, I am going thru a bit of a learning curve with the guitar, never had a lesson in my life, still a beginner, but I realised a few months ago, that learning from books was always going 2 be 2nd best + I can do better if I play in my own way, and now I'm learning.
thank u! yes, i know what you mean. i feel just the same about it. although knowing a little of theory and scales should make improvisation a little easier. i just play with my "ears" though.
I've repeatedly been asked for tabs now.. sorry, i can't offer those! i don't even know how to read notes or to write tabs. but watching the video you will notice, that it's all based on really simple chords and the baseline beeing picked with the thumb, using the forefinger and barely the middle- and ringfinger of the left hand for its melody. try it out, its not a big deal.
Excellent job, man. :) Your voice suits that song.

@htaylormusic: by the way, the first tone you hear is the empty 2nd string. maybe that can help you finding the right tuning.

@aramaka789456123 seriously?nooo! well thanks! I wouldn't say i'd written this, as the song was already there. I just made my version.
Jayarbal 6 months ago
@Jayarbal I'm not good at making my own version of a song, I had a very classical education so I like to play what's written... a real handicap...

Oh just saw again what my last question was.
The lyrics sound like they are about a dream of a dusky maiden in a ship from far lands, but seem actually to be about cocaine.
