I have just bought Gatchaman 2 and Fighter without any subtitles at all and have asked my sister in law who is Japanese to translate them, I am then going to create srt subtitle files and upload them to torrent sites for everyone to download, this WILL take time though to translate and create, but people please bear with me.
Sooner or later the people who own the rights to classic anime series like Gatchaman will understand that there is a huge audience outside of Japan that would love to purchase them. Even if the were only made available via download (which would be cheaper than producing DVD or Blue Ray discs) fans would still buy them.
@paladinyoh - What numbskull insults other people for having different tastes? I mean, seriously, if you don't like it that's fine, don't watch it, but saying that other people are stupid for liking it is rude and childish. A lot of people like Gatchaman because it pioneered a lot of elements that are now commonplace in anime. Yes it's campy and outdated, but the overall story was exceptional for an anime made in the 70s, and not too bad even by today's standards. Also I love the art style.
So who likes this show? People like me who are interested in anime as an art form and like to see older shows to see how anime has developed over the years, in much the same way that someone who likes more traditional art forms will study their history to better understand them. Also people who like campy old shows, or who maybe watched this as a kid and watch it for the nostalgia value. Gatchaman was the series that got me into anime in the first place, so for me it holds a special place.
