  • Very cool but how do you save the original graphic without a background so it may be used on the web or in another graphic program? When I remove the background like this and save it, the white background seems to come back when I bring it into another program or post it on my website.

  • @CatspitProductions Try saving it as a .GIF file

  • @B8YCK5

Same problem as you on the white in picture and I can't find an answer. These guy's that do these tutorials suck ass. They sit and breath for 4 minutes, when they could be explaining a lot more. I think they get off on it or something, having people hang on their every word only to fuck them over. But I digress, did you find an answer to the problem, and if so can you send me a Personal Message..

    Thanks..

  • you made a 30 secodns tutorial to 5:41 what a ass..

  • Thanks for this video! You're a great person to share your knowledge with others so generously.

  • Thank you very much m8 u really helped

  • ty so much, respect

  • RASTERIZE THE LAYER

  • When i pres the delete key nothing happents :S

    PLeas help me :s

  • i cant move the photo help

  • how do you save the transparent logo as a jpeg so you can apply it to other programs outside of photoshop? i'm trying to use this for adobe lightroom, but every time i remove the white background and upload the image into lightroom the white background reappears.

  • you cannot have a transparent background in a jpeg image. if you want a transparent background you'll have to save is as a .png or .gif image. i recommend png because it has better quality than .gif images.

  • hey i tried this and it did not work, still has a white background even though i cut it out in PS and saved it the way you suggested. I am trying to open in Flash- but freaking white around my moon-- I just want the moon, not the white...

  • wait after tweaking for TOO LONG- I figured out-yes the layer must be alone, then if you double click the layer and change the opacity setting TEMPORARILY to something less, then you reset back to 100% you get your checkered boxes (in the area you previously deleted), NOT white- amen, then save as a PNG- PHEWW hope I saved someone some time.

  • by saving as png of gif i meant after removing the white background, sorry that didn't help much..

  • hey, no you did nothing wrong, I understood what you meant- my image STILL had a white background after I cut it out and saved it as a PNG- then I realized I had to change the opacity of the layer, as I said earlier, to get the "checkered boxes background" and NO white back ground, just the object I selected- to open in a different program. cheers.

  • thanx a lot! been trying to get rid of the white background for for ages

  • Jpegs do not support transparency. You have to either save it as a PNG or a GIF. I recommend PNG as you don't have to worry about your shadows or fine edges looking bad.

  • I've tried saving it as a PNG, but it doesn't work, resizing the canvas, the image, nothing works. It has the checkerboard for transparency and everything. Can you hep, I'm using Adobe Photoshop Elements 8.

  • @c2thew Anyone who's having your problem, just save it as a .png or .gif instead of a .jpeg. Unfortunately, there is no way to get rid of the background if you save it as a jpeg.

  • Great video but what do you do when you have similar colourstogether? E.g. a white cup and saucer on a white background? In that case, the magic wand does not work. Any ideas?

  • I can't find the magic wand on photoshop cs3...

  • as soon as i unlocked the image, a hand cursor is always on instead of the normal pointer cursor and i cant edit ana=ything in picture, even if i restart photoshop. help please.

  • Try rebooting your computer. Photoshop uses a lot of memory and sometimes when it runs low, crazy things happen like not being able to change to the correct tools.

  • When i delete my white Background it turns black.

How do i make it checkerd, because when i draw it onto my image instead of it haveing to background it has a black background instead :/

  • You probably have a layer below your logo layer. Make sure that your logo layer is by itself when you delete the white background.

  • thanks !! Im just learning and i wanted to get rid of some white background and now I can WOOHOOO

  • cool

  • Thank you for making this video. I was lost.

  • Thanks!

  • Thanks i love this video. Narration is awesome!

  • oor, you could just use magic wand tool, click the white background, Click Ctrl+Alt+I (maybe its Ctrl+Shift+I(Im not sure)) then drag the logo to the other pic.... or instead of dragging, click Ctrl+C then click your other pic, click Ctrl+V. This tutorial is so for beginners lol, i figured this out in 2mins after i started photoshop first time.... ^_^
