  • is this a 2 stroke??? wiki says that only 2 stroke engine can direct reverse! but i assume this is a 4 stroke looking at it valves!

  • Its a 4 stroke. The camshaft slides for and aft with air pressure, to re-time the valves and injectors. see the video 'ARTHUR FOSS Sliding Camshaft' to see how it works. Its pretty cool!

  • @SthealthRaider

2 stroke engine's can reverse without changing camshaft, only changing of firing point,

4 stroke's got to change the camshaft in order to reverse the in and exhaust valve order,

    and ofc point of injection...

    greetz

  • sounds like it is saying,"Keep the fabric in??"

  • @censor48 Sounds more like.. Don't fuck with me

  • i have spent many years around this tug, but never got the chance to walk aboard it. I worked on the challenger tug in lake union in the 90's

  • Direct reversing makes for some real fun at the docks... They don't always restart... :) Not good if you need reverse. Great sound, glad there are some still around.

  • Lovely engines, which wouldn't exist if not for their inventor, Adrian Estep.

  • Very good clip!
