is this a 2 stroke??? wiki says that only 2 stroke engine can direct reverse! but i assume this is a 4 stroke looking at it valves!

Its a 4 stroke. The camshaft slides for and aft with air pressure, to re-time the valves and injectors. see the video 'ARTHUR FOSS Sliding Camshaft' to see how it works. Its pretty cool!

2 stroke engine's can reverse without changing camshaft, only changing of firing point,

4 stroke's got to change the camshaft in order to reverse the in and exhaust valve order,

and ofc point of injection...

Direct reversing makes for some real fun at the docks... They don't always restart... :) Not good if you need reverse. Great sound, glad there are some still around.
