  • Great song and great video! Your Wildest Fan,

  • The least noticed instrument...a tambourine?!

  • Funny and true. Good point

  • upon watching this a second time, this video seems really creepy. he made a video all about how he assumes some woman in his past feels about him and about her current husband. sorry, but that's creeper territory there.

  • @NameNotAlreadyTaken2: It was from Justin's personal experience, actually. I forget details, but I believe, in any respect, they've kept in touch.

To me, it's about deeply difficult regrets; giving up on the love of your life - for whatever reason - and 'moving on' only to discover years later, regardless of circumstances, you've not REALLY moved on at all. The consequences of that heartache.

'I Know You're Out There Somewhere' continues the story. A must see / listen.

  • coast to coast am brought me here!!

  • incredible bass line in this classic

  • This is a cool and classical video as it brought out so many wonderful and happy memories for me in the mid 1980's!

  • Hey Ya!

  • I watch this video and think of the girl I was with when this song was on the charts. It really makes my heart pound.

  • I fell in love with a girl in New Jersey in the summer of '73...She loved the Moody Blues.

I wonder if she ever thinks of me...in her wildest dreams.

    Beautiful video.

  • This song is simply awesome! nice video, justin hayward was and still is a cool cat. grandpa justin and all moodies are winners, yeah, 45 years of talent, brilliance and beauty, errr...and wealth...of course lots of people feel envious about it. like...me;-)

incredible band and human beings. rock on boys!

  • I think maybe if you don't get this song...you've never been in love...

  • My longest question for the longest time is, Who is the woman in the video? The g/f? Was it Helen Reddy? *SHRUG*

  • @TheAnnie68

Found this on Bing: Janet Spencer-Turner

Don't know more - beautiful woman, though.

  • @mingo09able Thanks. I was just curious all these years. She is pretty and more natural. I would have loved to live in that hay day. I was just a tot back then!

  • the fashion's are the same, but not the music

    unfortunately

  • I graduated high school in '86 and probably had little thoughts of the Moody Blues at the time but my childhood subconscience has me loving the access to their prime that You-Tube offers now...

  • great band great song

  • THIS IS REAL MUSIC & A REAL VIDEO !!!!!!

CURRENT MUSIC IS SHIT AND ONLY IDOTS ENJOY IT

( RAP & R&B IS THE SHIT IM TALKING ABOUT )

  • When this song was released, I listened to it daily wandering around the roaming hills of SD...namely nearest to Mt. Rushmore. Love to Eternal Beloved.

  • The best part of being a teenager is that you know without knowing you know.

  • This song takes me back

  • I was already married to the only love of my life and this song/video still used to make me want to cry way back when...So...In the video did she end up married to the original bass player? I don't remember the weirdness of that dude in the first part of story. Or is that just some other everyguy that she married? BTW: He could have broken free of those two guys and gone back to her if he really wanted to...don'cha think? Now that I think about it, I really feel bad for her husband & kids!

  • Love this song. When we were young, life was so woderful.... Must live the life as GOD give it to us.......

  • I relate only to late. and I'm a musician too.

  • I absolutely LOVE this song. I think what I love even more about this song are the comments. Out of every song I listen too, I have never come across any other song where people aren't fighting and disrespecting one another.

  • @jamielynnp24 shut up bitch....... just kidding

  • when music videos were actually good! love you 80s and moody blues

  • Beautiful song, video. WOW

  • I love the Moody Blues

  • Beautiful. The memories attached still make me cry....and smile.

  • I just had dinner with my first love who I never forgot! No contact for 33 years...we laughed and still enjoyed each others company! Both married with wonderful families... glad we have our loved ones but what we could have been???? Nice to have closure and to know we really loved an thought of one another often! Life is great and knowing what I know...makes it sweet! I have a wonderful husband who encouraged me to go see him! I made the right choice, I have a keeper!

  • makes me remember!

  • it doesn't get any better than this song for us baby boomers who grew up in the 60's!

  • nice music when you're out there driving...

  • sometimes its better to let go then keep ahold but , for me sence i grew up in the 80s ya i had a girl but we where so young that it didnt matter . meet at a baseball game and never seen her sence

  • mi video favorito gracias de peru

  • true love

  • I love these guys and I found out that they were coming to Pittsburgh and guess how much the tickets, the minimum ticket price 139 US dollars, the highest $584, REALLY. There must be alot of pretty wealthy fans. I saw them like in 1990 or something and I was very young like maybe 5. $139-584 per ticket.

  • @MrBoohead1987 WOAH! No way! I am going to see the moody blues and the tix are actually pretty cheap, we only paid 45 dollars a ticket to sit in the high up balcony, if the tix were 139 dollars i wouldn't be able to afford it myself. Did you enjoy the moody blues the first time out in '90?

  • I am old enough to remember all the different stages in this video. It did quite well. There are many times where just a minor event could lead to a major change but we are homo sapien and our eyes are on the front of our head looking forward. Its bad to lament the past.

  • What makes it sad is that I am old enough to understand this song now.

I wasn't when it first came out.

    Ouch.

  • @Laceykat66 hugs from an old fart..

  • @Laceykat66 I knoe EXACTLY what u mean...except the words didn't ring true for me til my first heartbreak...double OUCH

  • While I love this song, it makes me cry every time I hear it.

  • In both the high points and low points in our lives, we often feel the presence of those who are no longer with us. We also feel the weight of those we have yet to meet.

The truest reunions are those within our dreams.

  • Yesterday "the one that got away" spotted me at her place of work. I didn't know she worked there but, I was there to conduct some business. She recognized me and when she spoke I knew her voice before I even saw her. I haven't seen or heard from her in 16 years. Every time I hear this song it reminds me of her. She was unique and I was stupid enough to ruin the relationship 20 years ago. I thought she would slap the hell outta me if she ever saw me again but, she hugged me instead. Just maybe..

  • one of the only groups from the 80s i really like!

  • my love got away. he told me he loved me & knocked me up with our daughter. then he left. i hope he is tortured with memories, just as i am. our daughter will be 27 on jan. 16 2012. damn him.

  • @aryalglorious His loss, your gain. It wasn't meant to be.

  • brings me back,,,,,to the 80,,wonderfull time,,,bring it back!!

  • especially too when its a wild dream thats come true only to lose it.

  • ive had my heart broken a few times and boy does it hurt. times a healer but its not when you rekindle a lost love only to lose it a second time god damn it!!!!! HURTS BAD

  • Bloody hell...was that Elton John giving her the recording?????!!!!! LOL...

  • @GodConsciousness yes he gave the big black cd to her

  • I wonder if you think about me...

  • a perfect song for those who found love or lost love in the '80's

  • dreamy

  • j/c, I am going to see the moody blues in concert this year, does anyone have any ideas as to what i should wear? Also, I love this song as well, makes you dream about a past love you can never get out of your mind. To all of the heart broken on here I am deeply sorry. :( May you all have a brighter tomorrow. Don't feel alone, we're all there at least once in this life, hold you heads high and move on to find the true loves you all deserve.

  • @fembotprincess that is so sweeet xx

  • @cue1cole thank you! :) I will wear something that I'm happy with! I am sorry you were hurt and I do care. :) There are good people out there who DO care about others. I am happy right now in my life but I've been broken hearted, too. Many people go through it, sadly. Everyone needs a shoulder to lean/cry on as we pass through this life. Time WILL heal your wounds, just hang on and keep reaching for the stars. I am sure you'll find your true happiness. :) Everyone deserves it. :)

  • @fembotprincess where are the blues playing this year? im in the u.k would love to see them and hear this one especially played

  • @fembotprincess Wear what you bloody well want. The Moody Blues were never - not for a moment - about fashion. For them it was always and only the music. Sorry to sound so curt, but no one cares. And if there is even one message in this brilliant song, it's that apologies are never necessary. Life sometimes just happens. So, just get on with it.

  • @fembotprincess im on ur side.. wear something that makes you feel 'you'

  • @fembotprincess If we are lucky we are there once in this lifetime. Some never have the experiences of true passionate love at all. So I think you are all lucky including me to have found someone worth the heartache. It has been 17 years almost since I have seen him. Better to have loved and lost then to never have loved at all.

  • @333ANGELLOVE so true

  • @333ANGELLOVE SI'm 60 and that's my saying ! My youngest son needs to hear this song he has never forgot his first and she always treated him like {well you know} He has a girl friend now and I love hearing them laugh and play...She's great, and I hope she never leaves him..

  • @cmvansickle

Makes one really think about what they had... :-( So sad!

  • Back when I was stationed in Germany,I had an affair with a married woman. I often wonder if she remembers me.

  • This song brings such good memories... of times long passed

  • Follguy,it happens to us all.I realised too late I let the love of my life go.Ive tried facebook and others to find her, just to be a part of each others past.So far a blank. It happens and its very hard to accept

  • @MrBirchmoor33 Thanks; Maria was what I consider the great, passionate "love of my life", too.

She was beautiful, fun....and her eyes; God, but she had the most beautiful eyes. And smile. But the timing was all wrong, and she wanted more than I was able to give, then. Things didn't work out. I just hope she doesn't hate me, because I still love her.

This was, kind of, "our song". Thanks for the sympathy.

    Happy New Year.

  • @MrBirchmoor33

    don't give up

    keep trying!

  • @MrBirchmoor33 Please don't give up, if she really is the love of your life. Do it for all of us who can't....Good Luck!!!

  • Makes you wonder if the people in your past think about you as much as you think about them.

  • Just wanted to drop by and tell Maria that I still think of her. And this song.

I can't get her out of my head, or my heart.

I'll always care about her; I hope she's happy, whatever she's doing, whoever she's with. Always.

    Once, when you were mine......

  • What a great video. Just wonderful. I am guessing that he called the girls name as he saw her and I would think it was Ann. Anyone know if I am right?

  • Did you notice at the end of the video it looks like the drummer is also a "bouncer" who helps her backstage?

  • i never realized this song was about such a sad story :(

  • John Lodge's bass is under-rated. gutteral, and really drives the great sound of the moody blues.

  • BUDDY HOLLY picture on da wall, LOVE this video!!!

  • one of the best videos of the 80's!! i wont say 'best ever' because the 80's videos seem to be the only ones that count!

  • I love the Moody Blues and the class act that they are. This video and Moody Blues songs make me feel good every time I hear them. They are so incredibly talented and sound just like their recordings when they play live. I have seen them live twice.

  • Justin has a voice like velvet. He can sing for sure, simply one of my favourite songs by the Moodies.

  • For me, it really is impossible to hear this song and not think about a girl I used to know. It seems like a lifetime ago. This song is magical.

  • I want to see you but I can't. I am swept up in this crowd and I am unable to break free from it. The force is too strong. The wave overwhelming. I couldn't just say "HEY, WAIT A MINUTE!, I want to see this woman, she's an old friend of mine"! I just can't say it. Cats got my tongue. Besides how could I possibly do a people search of your maiden name to track you down or hire a private investigator to find you so I can visit you? How? HAHAHAHA.

  • This is the most arrogant thing I have ever seen. Here is my opinion on things.....Some watered down synth-pop crap about how fucking great a band we are. For Christ Sakes, we made it, we are music gods, maybe even real gods and we expect to be worshiped. Just look at your poor miserable working class life, you scumbag, and how you almost could have been with someone as great and godlike as us. To bad you missed out. But I still have feelings for you. Oh well, thats life! Anyone agree?

  • @blabblab1212 My take on it is when we're younger we are so idealistic and searching for the 'right one' not realizing that the one we were with was 'the one' and in retrospect we realize that we made a big mistake so many years ago. I don't see it as you do...I wish that I could go back and make that change...I wonder how my life would be today, 40 years later...In My Wildest Dreams....

  • @Starrman69 That is it exactly, Starrman69! Wish I could go back too.

  • @blabblab1212 It seems like you have a chip on your shoulder toward those who are gifted and successful, no doubt more than you. Why not just admire them and their music instead of cutting them down?

  • @london2z I love the Moody Blues. So no chip. They are 1000 times more talented that me and I do admire them but I think they are very pretentious in this song.

  • @blabblab1212 It's sort of what the song is about, being pulled away by years and circumstances from the original impulses. It's just life, nothing pretentious about reflecting it.

  • Anything Moody Blue's!!!One of the great band's!!!

  • sick and tired of these bullshit rap advertisements

  • one of the best intro,s in pop music history.

  • my parents were huge moody blues fans. this song brings me back to being 5 years old, cruising around with my mom in her shit brown oldsmobile

  • amazing song and video. glad to know the classy ones still remain faithful to this fantastic band.

  • youtube is a piece of shit. I don't know why I even bother.

  • To the one who got away. We all have someone who got away.

  • @TheJonko92 for fucks sake stop mentioning jb on every other music video

  • @MIKEY2193 Correction still beats most music of today.

  • I wanted to tell the lady ...crying in the hallway at the end... No worries ... you'll be able to catch up with Justin... just wait another 20 years... in the latter 2000's, Facebook will help the two of you connect.. and then you can play Farmville and Mafia Wars together.. !! :-) hahahaa!!

  • @itsstillfriday I often thought about that while watching the video! LOL Unfortunately, that doesn't work for everyone b/c the one I have been searching for doesn't have a Facebook account!

  • This song still hits me...cause we all wonder what might have been on the path we didnt take.

  • Time for Art Bell.

  • Just hit 60 and this song still speaks to me. Ahhhh...the road not taken.......

  • As far back as I can remember, my dad loved this song. And I loved it, too, though I was too young to appreciate it in its fullness. I used to call it "the Zoom Song" cuz the whoosh in the intro. :3 great memories to this song.

  • I wonder if the girl in the 1960's-looking film is the same as in the modern-day video.

  • pretty girl and great band seems to work it all out for me...

  • @subfourrun

...no substitute for a good-looking girl and a great band! Lamar

  • Moody Blues have been my favorite group since high school in the '60s. There was plenty of awsome music back then, but the MBs stole me away the first time I heard them ~ I LOVED the way they blended symphony and rock ~ and I still do. When this song was released 25 yrs later, I was PROUD of the MBs for it. Because it reminds each of us of our 'road left untraveled', it speaks to everyone. I will get to see them LIVE for 1st time next spring and can then die happy. THANK YOU, MBs, for 45yrs!

  • @FLSHBK1

I'm with you. Think about the 60's. The MB's were about the weirdest group out there, in that their format was so different from the hard-driving, guitar twanging, groups trying to make it in music. The Blues were soooo different. You know, I believe they inspired some groups, such as Pink Floyd in that form of music. I know PF fans will heartedly disagree and say that the Floyd developed on its own. No one does that in music. Everyone is influenced. Love the MB's. Lamar

  • I like this song, who is the brunette woman? Tanks

  • My mom's been a fan since college, I grew up listening. 17 years old.

  • Everytime I hear this song I am sent back to the summer after my senior year and my first love. She was heading to college on the west coast, two months later i was in Iraq. That was 8 years ago, it always pains me to think what might have been

  • the reason there s a Cortina in the video is because that s the car Justin had when he met his wife Marie in 1967. they are still married. God bless you guys.

  • Grew up with this song cuz of my dad. 23 years old here. Friggin love this song.

  • @SocMedEric I'm with you on that....I'm 31....My Mom loved the Moody Blues...I just lost her in November though...So now I listen to them 1. because I like the Moody's and 2. to keep her memory alive.

  • @SocMedEric Me too!!!!!!!!!

  • @SocMedEric 24 years old here. I know exactly what you mean. Grew up hearing this music because of my dad as well. It will always be a part of who I am now. I can remember bouncing around to this on my way to Cade's Cove in TN.

  • She looks a lot like Natalie Wood.

  • @guely55 You know, you're right. I hadn't noticed until I read this. I knew she was a doll but now, ,,, well, she's still a doll. LOL!

  • This song reminds me of my first girlfriend. I fell in love with her the moment I looked in her eyes. After 31 years I found her again and can honestly say that I have never fallen out of love for her.

  • they re still great. only a few can do it.

  • Such talent. Ruined by time

  • I love this song too in your wildest dreams too from the moody blues sincerly nadine dambra

  • luv this song so much!!

  • Lost the love of my life back then and I use to listen to this and think the same things.

  • I was 25 when this somg came out and I really liked it. But now that I am 50 the lyrics really make sense.
