For you on 2.2 froyo i suggest to use SuperOneClick app for rooting your phone,because it is much simpler,an for you that are still on 2.1 i recommend z4root...

all i get is the logo ! with the android guy, no yellow text comes along after the apply sd card, wtf i pressed the continue button and the yellow text came along then, i also pressed the homebutton at the time too so i dont know if that had something to do with it, the phone did reset though, superuser is present but in my phone settings it still says 2.1 firmware

I have the i5801 everything works up until the point when the phone goes into recovery mode. My phone restarts but it only shows the wee green guy with the warning triangle, none of that yellow writing. Although I will be much obliged if you post a tutorial about partitioning the SD card on your samsung galaxy 3 for, my Samsung Galaxy 3 hangs while I try to partition the SD card and without partitioning the SD card I dont think I will be able to install the application on my SD card and save space on my internal memory.

i have enabled USB debugging before,twice! and after 2-3 connections to my comp, it doesnt allow me to transfer data to SDcard. it just charges.. but the memory card works fine on my phone... i had to reset my phone twice (yes, twice!)..and that fixed the problem.. now im scared of rooting cause i might encounter this problem again after i root it... i do not want to reset again (that is, if my root will go away)... is there some way to reset without losing root? n how to backup?

hey sagar can u tell me how to apply livewallpapers,i have installed launcher pro and also ruted my cell but its of no use, also installed few live wallpaper.and on more thing after rooting my cell when i connect it to lappi it dosent show usb sign on homescreen if it can be resolved well nd good otherwise tell how to unroot the device. will be waiting for ur reply

for all those getting error that device not found.. try installing kies latest verion.... coz it installes drivers fot ur phone finder if not on windows 7.. even of windows 7, try that... while doing this process... kies was installed on my lappy...

How did u install android driver for samsung galaxy I5801?, the default provided by samsung does not seem to enable the usb debug mode. I am NOT getting the triangle in notification area. Are you using the same samsung drivers?

Hi, All went well till the reboot. It reboots and I get the recovery mode triangle but no options e.g. apply: /sd card/update.zip. Tried it 3 times even removed the update zip from the sd card and retried. Any suggestions?

@sagarguyus Hi, update: tried it on another PC running XP, with kies also installed and also a different memory sd card an got the same result .i.e. I just get the triangle and green android. I can see update zip on the sd card, it's as if when rebooting it's not finding/seeing the sd card. It was locked to Orange but has been unlocked. Dude...Indeed thats what you call a tutorial....I successfully rooted my phone by seeing this tutorial and thanks to you for posting that. Although I will be much obliged if you post a tutorial about partitioning the SD card on your samsung galaxy 3 for, my Samsung Galaxy 3 hangs while I try to partition the SD card and without partitioning the SD card I dont think I will be able to install the application on my SD card and save space on my internal memory.

i have enabled USB debugging before,twice! and after 2-3 connections to my comp, it doesnt allow me to transfer data to SDcard. it just charges.. but the memory card works fine on my phone... i had to reset my phone twice (yes, twice!)..and that fixed the problem.. now im scared of rooting cause i might encounter this problem again after i root it... i do not want to reset again (that is, if my root will go away)... is there some way to reset without losing root? n how to backup?

for all those getting error that device not found.. try installing kies latest verion.... coz it installes drivers fot ur phone finder if not on windows 7.. even of windows 7, try that... while doing this process... kies was installed on my lappy...

2) kies detected my device with SD card earlier before rooting my device.After rooting ,kies failed to detect it. So please suggest me any other alternatives....

How did u install android driver for samsung galaxy I5801?, the default provided by samsung does not seem to enable the usb debug mode. I am NOT getting the triangle in notification area. Are you using the same samsung drivers?

Hi, All went well till the reboot. It reboots and I get the recovery mode triangle but no options e.g. apply: /sd card/update.zip. Tried it 3 times even removed the update zip from the sd card and retried. Any suggestions?

@sagarguyus Hi, update: tried it on another PC running XP, with kies also installed and also a different memory sd card an got the same result .i.e. I just get the triangle and green android. I can see update zip on the sd card, it's as if when rebooting it's not finding/seeing the sd card. It was locked to Orange but has been unlocked. Any further ideas, are there any other setting on the phone that I need to make?
