@devilhedgehog I wouldn't know about that. Re-releases are awesome, but the GBA Mother/Mother 2 game ruined it. Have you seen the Giygas battle on GBA? It's way too quick. You kill Pokey after one SMASH attack. Each form only needs one turn of attacks for it to change, and they ruined the original music. They could make a release but with revamped music and effects, and the fights are in a 3d virtual field. lol imagine Giygas in 3D.

Earthbound isn't being added is because of the music being way too close to other songs. If you really want Earthbound this badly, then just get a SNES or a ROM or something.

Not that I wouldn't love it, but you have to think of this financially. Nintendo would have to pay royalties to put it on the VC, and that just wouldn't make them much money.

New information has surfaced. The reason they won't release the first two games is for copyright reasons. Various people (The Beatles, Dali, etc) have made legal claims on the content in the games. Some of them are way out of line, others (Like The Beatles, who's music is sampled liberally throughout Mother 2) have legitimate claims

Itoi refuses to change the content in question, making it impossible for any VC releases

Well, most likely the reason for not releasing EarthBound, is because it contained various remixes from really popular songs at the time, and I guess Nintendo don't want to be sued...

Still, if you have the HomeBrew channel, you can download a WAD file of this game and play it on your Wii as a VC game.
