This video has a bunch of picture of moms using proper nursing etiquette. Where are the pictures of the moms that disrobe or walk around essentially topless? These are the nursing moms that people complain about. Who will plop down next to you take off their shirt, then get mad if you look at them. Don't invade my space with your boob out! Your baby isn't going to starve in the time it takes to find a proper place to nurse.

What a bunch of self centered women who would do something like this, I dont want my kids seeing someone with there junk hanging out right out in public, if you want to feed your kid have some respect for someone other then yourself and do it in a private setting not right out infront of everyone,
Why is everyone against what spitzbully said? You guys are stupid -so people have to agree with you or they get kicked off the message board?I don't want to see junk hanging out in public either. So damn self-centered -who cares about everyone else as long as my kid gets fed is their attitude
Breastfeeding is more hygienic than bottle feeding-FACT.Nature intended breasts for feeding they are not "sex parts" public bathrooms are unhygienic everyone knows that.Who says I want anymore? this is all about babies, what could be more Unselfish than feeding your child?! Public display?! What should babies be hidden?! Can't believe I've bitten again, I refuse to look at this again, I can't get any more upset, ignorance and jelousy will never go away.Goodbye
Nobody is saying don't feed the baby, they are saying either cover up or go someplace private. I'm sorry the world it not as progressive as you, but it offends some people, it is a very private ordeal and yes, is quite comparable to other bodily functions that are unseemly in public. How hard is it to cover up? One little rag or blanket, that's all people ask and in NO way hinders feeding.
I would like to say what a wonderful video this is and more power to these women who are upholding the rights to feed their babies in the way THEY choose to and when the baby needs it!! I also applaud the women who go to nurse ins to support their fellow mothers! Way to go ladies!!! You are AWESOME!!
Listen klingonlady You see the breastfeeding rights advocates like your liberals dont believe on breastfeeding in a respectful manner. There beliefs are that humans are no different than animals and there for we as humans should not be ashamed of it. They see it as natural and its just like any type of eating function as compared to adults eating in public. The nurse-in lactivist have a twisted way of thinking, what the hell do these elites think we are gonna do?
Its not like we are gonna take control and rush into their own homes, into their own bedrooms and says "NO!!!YOU DONT HAVE A RIGHT TO BREASTFEED PERIOD!!!". The problem with the liberal thinkers is that they think we as the conservatives are out to put roadblocks on their rights to breastfeed. Just do it in a respectful manner thats all
when i hear comments like"nazis""bored""feminist""desperate"i know this is just a ff mums guilty concience, why attack us personally for wanting to feed our babies when they need it?of course its about our babies not us,How on earth do you know what we are like?,how many times do we have to say it?
GillianlovesTeagan...this isnt about wanting to feed your so-called hungry babies, its about your rights only, lets face it. Quite selfish aint it? You know what it all boils down to? You want more than just breastfeeding rights, you want the right to put you and your baby on public display. This true discredits all stay-at-home breastfeeding mothers all the way
we are not saying formula feeding is wrong,it's up to you what you give your baby,i couldn't feed in public because of ignorant people like you,it would of been great to feed her asap when she wanted it,sometimes waiting upset her, made it hard to feed
This is all a bunch of feminist garbage if you ask me. A bunch of desperate housewives type who are bored and have nothing better to do than to go on a boobs crusade. Yes the breast naz's are out to discrace all mothers as usual
I think for any mother to breastfeed in a bathroom is no different than if she is using her own home. Nobody wants to look at a nother human being drooling his/her wet mouth on someone elses sex parts. Thats down right unsanitary and slows down business, just breastfeed in a respectful manner thats all
No you need to growup klinggonlady77, anyone who eats from sex parts (such as breast) rather than eating with a silverware like a civilized decent human being should be hidden away in bathrooms. And to sit here and say that eating in a bathroom is no different than eating in your own home shows that your a f**king misguided liberal idiot. Making that comparison is two different things and will never be the same
So spitzbully are you telling me that a one day old is suppose to eat off of silverware? I know they can't and I am just making a statement here, they could use a bottle right. However I am wondering what makes a breast a sex part when milk comes out of it!! If milk was not intended to come out of it when a child is born it wouldn't. I will tell you I am not a liberal but I do believe that a child has a right to eat........
In my nearly 8 years of breastfeeding my 3 children I have never just whipped up my shirt to my neck and latched them on in a public place. I also have never taken them into a public bathroom to nurse them. NOR have I spent their infancy never leaving my house because I had a nursling and *gasp* they might be human and need to eat. I have never covered myself with anything but my shirt and I have never ever been asked to leave a restaurant or business because I was breastfeeding.
Why are you so offended by breastfeeding? Is it the feeding itself or the womans attitude about it? How did you eat as a baby? Were you breastfed by your mother and now think she is a disgusting liberal animal because she chose to breastfeed you? How do you or will you feed your children? or are children the enemy?
I'm not offended by breastfeeding unless i dont have to see it and if its out of the public eye, then fine thats between you and your child. But to go out of your way to be in the spotlight without any effort of being out of the way of others does show lack of maturity and less respect for herself. I was breastfed as a baby klingon, but my mother showed class when doing so, even if it meant using the toilet
No children are not the enemy klingonlady, i think if anyone is not eating like everyone else in a more civil manner, then people will be looked down at the nose of others. I was breastfed by my mother privately, and she was not a discusting person for not airing her dirty laundry to the whole world
Ok you say you never covered yourself with anything but your shirt right?? And were never asked to leave? Ok i dont see a problem with it if customers are fine with it, yes it maybe a little unsanitary, but if customers were to complain, then that where you do have to stop
Yes klingonlady, a child has a right to eat in a respectful manner in case out in public such as using a bottle with pumped breastmilk if you know what i mean
You say you are concerned about unsanitariness, AND you think bottles are fine but public breastfeeding isn't. This is inconsistent. When a baby is breastfeeding, there's no way milk could wind up anywhere except in the baby and perhaps a little bit on mom's shirt. With a bottle, there's the possibility of a spill, or of milk leaking elsewhere than simply onto mom or baby.
Of course it's a non-issue, since it isn't unsanitary. But if you think it is, you shouldn't prefer bottles to breasts.
Oh gosh get out of here with the 120 excuses, if its not a filthy bathroom with germs your worried about, its hemmoroids. Wow talk about not putting any effort into looking for a real excuse to find someplace thats private. And And drawing parallels between a baby eating with that of an adult is completely misguided and is again symptomic of this ridiculous child-centric culture in the United States.
I am a nursing mother, but I do understand what people are talking about. I was trying to eat at a restaurant, and the lady at the table across from me, pulled up her shirt, and started nursing! My 13 year old son had eyes as big a saucers. I couldn't get him to look away! Needless to say, I lost my appetite and we left! I don't expose my breasts to my minor son at home, or in public. I cover myself with a blanket before pulling my shirt up,and remain covered!A little discretion goes a long way!
ndjln122...i agree with what your saying, i do think that is disrespectful when a women across from you pulled her top up for the sake of feeding that child. To expose your breast in public purposely does go beyond a hungry child
Watching this video never gets old. :) I was at the Vegas nurse-in at the Delta counter and it was amazing to experience the togetherness of it all. And it was even more wonderful when passersby showed their support!
Can't we support mothers with whatever method they use to feed their babies? I'm not a bad mom because I bottle fed my sweet babies! Of course breast milk is best! But to the lactivists who offer unsolicited statistics & self-righteous comments to a mother innocently trying to nourish her child with a bottle, suspend your judgment until you know her story. We must treat ALL our sisters with compassion, make sure the facts are out there, & be thankful that it's 2008 and we have options!
I love this, it's so powerfull, a mothers love is so strong, we can continue through all the ignorance and abuse we get, well done all you breatfeeing mums, you are doing great, don't let them get you down, let us put the health of our babies first.xx
Excuse me Gillianloves teagan but a mothers so-called love that wants to breastfeed in public isnt so much directed at that baby. She is morely thinking about her rights only
God forbid a woman should agitate for her rights.
Anyway this particular right is inseparable from the issue of care for her child. Efforts aimed at protecting this right are ipso facto aimed at promoting this particular aspect of child care.
Isncee... 25-6-302 states that a woman may breastfeed anywhere she has a right to be. That's it. No cases have determined what this means. It does not address whether a business owner can request a certain place or method, it certainly does not keep them from asking. As for places were the mother has a right to be, that is a bit without meaning. You generally don't just have a right to be in a business. Generally once a business owner asks you to leave, you no longer have a right to be there.
So as much as this law does give the mother some rights, it is in no way clear what those rights are and will take many lawsuits and case law to determine what it really means. The only reason I point this out is that stating that the "law" IS, just isn't possible here. So everybody should chill out a bit about proclaiming what the law says.
using some sort of privacy, good judgement away from patrons wont hinder the babys feeding time or his/her health. The right of breastfeeding should not equate to having the right of doing it in every street corner
What I say to people scorning me for BF in public is that if I were a vegetarian and you were eating a steak I couldn't ask you to put a blanket over your head so don't expect my son to.I DO not expect him to starve for other's sake especially when a new report was just released stating that when a baby starts fussing for food they are in the late stages of hunger...sad huh and you expect me to tell my son to wait to eat...good luck!
I love the dad holding the baby and the sign "Bathrooms are for diapers, Not dinner!" It's not just women who are on the breast feeding bandwagon. My husband was the first to mention breast feeding when I got pregnant. It was an unspoken idea. I just always new that it was the best. It was nice to know that I had his full support before I even asked for it.
I applaud all the Woman in this video, yes, breast milk is best, we shouldn't feel shamed by outdated values. I find it ironic in a society where a womans breasts are used for everything else and exposed that people find so much issue in allowing them to be used for their purpose. I nursed all of my kids, I wasn't ashamed, and would do it again in a heartbeat.
I'm sick and tired of BF nazi's putting down FF mothers, FF doesn't make a bad mother. Step off your soap box, get a life, and quit sterotyping and judging other moms, because they made a choice that was best for their situation/family.
Women could have to take heavy narcotics for an illness such as cancer, or a back problem, or have to take blood thinners, or any other medication that is NEEDED for them that can be passed through the BM. That would make it so they can't BF. A woman may have been sexually abused, and feels uncomforatble BF. A woman may have a drug problem, or a disease such as AIDS that is transmitted via BM
Actually, studies have shown that breast feeding changes the view that women who have been abused have of their breasts. Breasts have a purpose now, instead of being a source of pain and a reminder of what they have been through. Their breasts become a good part of their body again, instead of a shameful part that they are supposed to hide.
Now, as far as the diseases go, you are right. I don't think that the debate has to do with the fact that formula is inherently evil. It's not. The truth is that it has it's upsides for women who have medical conditions that would endanger their children if they breast fed. But perfectly healthy women should receive the news that breast milk is the healthier and more economic choice for their children.
There shouldn't be this stigma surrounding breast feeding any more. The science and studies are there to prove that breast is best in so many different and important ways. My mom was unable to breast feed me and my brother because she had tissue clogging her ducts. The formula search was really hard on me. I lost so much weight because the formulas of the 80's were really harsh. Not much has changed in the world of formulas.
Not all FF mom's prop a bottle in their babies mouth, I NEVER DO THIS,NOR HAVE I EVER. There is MANY reason why a woman can't BF, weather or not you agree with that, is not my problem.
Your baby needs YOU and by stuffing a bottle or pacifier in their mouth you are forcing them to bond with objects not humans. If you refuse to mother your baby you should not have babies. There are rare situations when a woman can not breastfeed, but other than that I see it as a mothers duty to give their child what they deserve, the best, the BREAST. I see to many babies in their infant carseats with bottles propped up and it makes me furious!
How dare you try to say BF mothers are better mothers then FF moms, that is simply UNTRUE, Putting a pacifer in a babys mouth doesn't make a bad mom, A MOTHER PUNCHING AND STARVING her child would make a bad mom, A MOTHER LEAVING HER BABY WITH RANDOM people would make a bad mom, You are stereotyping...
So saying that breastmilk is magical...it will cause your child to be smarter then a FF baby, a BF baby won't get as sick as a FF baby...is all BS. Yes, its a great nutritious FOOD....and that's all it is..FOOD. People like you need to quit misinforming people!
I'm sorry you're so angry. Breastmilk is baby's first immunization. Breastmilk offers both active and passive immune protection, hormonal support, enzymatic action, and a wide and perfect nutrient mix. Formula offers none of these.
Odo is right. There is not a single formula on the market that has every benefit that breast milk has. There is not a single formula that has all of the ingredients and nutrients found in breast milk. Formula just doesn't cut it in a lot of ways. Not to mention the health benefits for the mother. Breastfeeding has been linked to shorter hospital stays in women who deliver vaginally. If breastfeeding is initiated soon after birth, it helps to deliver the placenta...
It decreases a woman's risks for breast cancer and ovarian cancer, it delivers the enzymes that line the babies stomach, aiding digestion. Yeah, babies get by with formula and grow up and things like that, but formula can't help protect my babies immune system, or help prevent me getting cancer.
My son started walking at around 8 months, crawling at 5 months, and saying words at 6 months, guess what...he was FF. He's beyond advanced. He hasn't been sick at all. I was breastfed and have allergies. I had dozens of ear infections growing up as well.
I think FF moms should have a sit in...BF moms always like to judge FF moms...ITS JUST FOOD PEOPLE!!! Breastmilk isn't some super magical drink...its just food....
Saying a food will make you become more intelligent then eating a different FOOD is BS. Yes, BF is healthier, but saying that BF babies are smarter then FF babies is wrong, and NOT TRUE.
While the jury is still out as far as hard numbers about making a baby smarter, the theory held by doctors everywhere is that babies have higher iqs when breast fed because the mothers are more educated and the mothers themselves have higher IQs. My mom couldn't breast feed me and my brother. I had terrible digestive problems which may or may not have been related to the formulas.
Breastfeeding needs to be conducted in private and should not be shared with the rest of the world. These breastfeeding hatefilled feminist need to show some consideration and understandings of peoples feelings by breastfeeding in a bathroom or a car. Breastfeeding in public is not so much about a hungry child, this all boils down to how these feminist want a spotlight and an audience in front of them
Why does my baby have to eat in a bathroom when you are I would not? Shouldn't my baby have just as much right as you or I to eat when and wherever he gets hungry at and be comfortable while eating? Not all of these women are feminists just because they are having a protest against ignorant people like you.
On the other videos, you tried to turn it into a political debate. This is not about politics. This is a health issue. It's not healthy to feed a baby in a public restroom, period. Get over it! The law is on the side of the baby and it's breastfeeding mother.
I agree too, breastfeeding is a very natural thing, and the healthiest way to feed a newborn child, why some sickos think it is bad or not good baffles the heck out of me, it is a scientific fact that breast milk is the healthiest thing for a baby and it boosts their immune system.
Breastfeeding is the #1 thing a new mom can do to help herself and her child. It protects her baby against infection and helps assure proper involution of the uterus to stop postpartum bleeding. Besides, human breast milk was meant for human babies. Cows milk is for cows. Keep up the great work, breastfeeding moms everywhere!
Only in America would something so biologically natural as breastfeeding become a big controversy. Hmm, I wonder what's next? People having a problem that the mouth is used for eating or the ear is used for hearing? Sheesh. America, the land of the Free, The Brave, and the Totally Nuts.
Beautiful montage! I was at the Victoria's Secret one and the Delta one in Portland- both super empowering- I love the "Breastfeeding is not a dirty little secret!" poster. Thank you for putting it together!
This put tears in my eyes. I can really feel the rush all the women are getting from doing something so powerful and meaningful to their cause. Great job, and what an appropriate song! :)
Great montage.. i have breastfed all 5 of my kids, and that has made the difference!!! Keep upthe good work and teh lactivism, someday it WILL BE THE NORM!
I participated in "The View" Nurse-In in Dallas Texas, and then I organized the Delta Nurse-In in Las Vegas, NV. We also did a HUGE Nurse-In against Victoria's Secret here in Las Vegas, with over 50 families represented. Babies have a right to eat whenever, wherever the needs arrises. Bottlefed or breastfed. What Delta did was reprehensible, and they paid a BIG PR price for that. GREAT montage. Thank you for sharing!
I absolutely want to participate if there is ever one in my area! It blows my mind that people think there is something wrong with feeding our children in the most natural way possible when he/she is hungry.

My 13 year old son had eyes as big a saucers. I couldn't get him to look away! Needless to say, I lost my appetite and we left! I don't expose my breasts to my minor son at home, or in public. I cover myself with a blanket before pulling my shirt up,and remain covered!A little discretion goes a long way!
ndjln122 3 years ago
ndjln122...i agree with what your saying, i do think that is disrespectful when a women across from you pulled her top up for the sake of feeding that child.

She is morely thinking about her rights only
spitzbully 3 years ago
God forbid a woman should agitate for her rights.
Anyway this particular right is inseparable from the issue of care for her child. Efforts aimed at protecting this right are ipso facto aimed at promoting this particular aspect of child care.
Isncee 3 years ago
Generally once a business owner asks you to leave, you no longer have a right to be there.
spitzbully 3 years ago
So as much as this law does give the mother some rights, it is in no way clear what those rights are and will take many lawsuits and case law to determine what it really means. The only reason I point this out is that stating that the "law" IS, just isn't possible here. So everybody should chill out a bit about proclaiming what the law says.
spitzbully 3 years ago
using some sort of privacy, good judgement away from patrons wont hinder the babys feeding time or his/her health. The right of breastfeeding should not equate to having the right of doing it in every street corner
spitzbully 3 years ago

It was nice to know that I had his full support before I even asked for it.

breast is best!!!
recyclinggoddess 4 years ago 2
I applaud all the Woman in this video, yes, breast milk is best, we shouldn't feel shamed by outdated values. I find it ironic in a society where a womans breasts are used for everything else and exposed that people find so much issue in allowing them to be used for their purpose. I nursed all of my kids, I wasn't ashamed, and would do it again in a heartbeat.
VAMPYRESHADOW 4 years ago 3
How inspiring!! I'm so proud of all of you who participated. It's about time society saw nursing in public as a natural thing to do.

I'm sick and tired of BF nazi's putting down FF mothers, FF doesn't make a bad mother. Step off your soap box, get a life, and quit sterotyping and judging other moms, because they made a choice that was best for their situation/family.
skelly813 4 years ago
Your comment doesn't make any sense. Standing up for the right to breastfeed without being harassed is NOT being a nazi or putting anyone else down.
mmikol 4 years ago
Women could have to take heavy narcotics for an illness such as cancer, or a back problem, or have to take blood thinners, or any other medication that is NEEDED for them that can be passed through the BM. That would make it so they can't BF. A woman may have been sexually abused, and feels uncomforatble BF. A woman may have a drug problem, or a disease such as AIDS that is transmitted via BM
skelly813 4 years ago
Actually, studies have shown that breast feeding changes the view that women who have been abused have of their breasts. Breasts have a purpose now, instead of being a source of pain and a reminder of what they have been through. Their breasts become a good part of their body again, instead of a shameful part that they are supposed to hide.
catalystmom2be 4 years ago
Now, as far as the diseases go, you are right. I don't think that the debate has to do with the fact that formula is inherently evil. It's not. The truth is that it has it's upsides for women who have medical conditions that would endanger their children if they breast fed. But perfectly healthy women should receive the news that breast milk is the healthier and more economic choice for their children.
catalystmom2be 4 years ago
There shouldn't be this stigma surrounding breast feeding any more. The science and studies are there to prove that breast is best in so many different and important ways. My mom was unable to breast feed me and my brother because she had tissue clogging her ducts. The formula search was really hard on me. I lost so much weight because the formulas of the 80's were really harsh. Not much has changed in the world of formulas.
catalystmom2be 4 years ago
Not all FF mom's prop a bottle in their babies mouth, I NEVER DO THIS,NOR HAVE I EVER. There is MANY reason why a woman can't BF, weather or not you agree with that, is not my problem.
skelly813 4 years ago
Let's have a nurse-in in Bayshark's neighborhood? I'm not due till December. Let's do it in January.
catalystmom2be 4 years ago
Your baby needs YOU and by stuffing a bottle or pacifier in their mouth you are forcing them to bond with objects not humans. If you refuse to mother your baby you should not have babies. There are rare situations when a woman can not breastfeed, but other than that I see it as a mothers duty to give their child what they deserve, the best, the BREAST. I see to many babies in their infant carseats with bottles propped up and it makes me furious!
Margueriteashbee 4 years ago
How dare you try to say BF mothers are better mothers then FF moms, that is simply UNTRUE, Putting a pacifer in a babys mouth doesn't make a bad mom, A MOTHER PUNCHING AND STARVING her child would make a bad mom, A MOTHER LEAVING HER BABY WITH RANDOM people would make a bad mom, You are stereotyping...
skelly813 4 years ago
So saying that breastmilk is magical...it will cause your child to be smarter then a FF baby, a BF baby won't get as sick as a FF baby...is all BS. Yes, its a great nutritious FOOD....and that's all it is..FOOD. People like you need to quit misinforming people!
skelly813 4 years ago
I'm sorry you're so angry. Breastmilk is baby's first immunization. Breastmilk offers both active and passive immune protection, hormonal support, enzymatic action, and a wide and perfect nutrient mix. Formula offers none of these.
odopuppy 4 years ago
Odo is right. There is not a single formula on the market that has every benefit that breast milk has. There is not a single formula that has all of the ingredients and nutrients found in breast milk. Formula just doesn't cut it in a lot of ways. Not to mention the health benefits for the mother. Breastfeeding has been linked to shorter hospital stays in women who deliver vaginally. If breastfeeding is initiated soon after birth, it helps to deliver the placenta...
catalystmom2be 4 years ago 2
It decreases a woman's risks for breast cancer and ovarian cancer, it delivers the enzymes that line the babies stomach, aiding digestion. Yeah, babies get by with formula and grow up and things like that, but formula can't help protect my babies immune system, or help prevent me getting cancer.
catalystmom2be 4 years ago 3
My son started walking at around 8 months, crawling at 5 months, and saying words at 6 months, guess what...he was FF. He's beyond advanced. He hasn't been sick at all. I was breastfed and have allergies. I had dozens of ear infections growing up as well.
skelly813 4 years ago
I'll take the advice of numerous doctors and scientists, thanks.
angelfalling14 4 years ago
I think FF moms should have a sit in...BF moms always like to judge FF moms...ITS JUST FOOD PEOPLE!!! Breastmilk isn't some super magical drink...its just food....
skelly813 4 years ago
Yes, it is a superfood. Veggies and twinkies are both food, but what's healthier? This is backed up by science.
angelfalling14 4 years ago 2
Saying a food will make you become more intelligent then eating a different FOOD is BS. Yes, BF is healthier, but saying that BF babies are smarter then FF babies is wrong, and NOT TRUE.
skelly813 4 years ago
While the jury is still out as far as hard numbers about making a baby smarter, the theory held by doctors everywhere is that babies have higher iqs when breast fed because the mothers are more educated and the mothers themselves have higher IQs. My mom couldn't breast feed me and my brother. I had terrible digestive problems which may or may not have been related to the formulas.
catalystmom2be 4 years ago
Bayshark, seriously, you need a hobby. Breastfeeding is how ALL babies were intended to be fed. Period. Since day 1 of mankind. Deal with it.
tammeh68 4 years ago 3
Breastfeeding needs to be conducted in private and should not be shared with the rest of the world. These breastfeeding hatefilled feminist need to show some consideration and understandings of peoples feelings by breastfeeding in a bathroom or a car. Breastfeeding in public is not so much about a hungry child, this all boils down to how these feminist want a spotlight and an audience in front of them
bayshark82 4 years ago
Why does my baby have to eat in a bathroom when you are I would not? Shouldn't my baby have just as much right as you or I to eat when and wherever he gets hungry at and be comfortable while eating? Not all of these women are feminists just because they are having a protest against ignorant people like you.
huskers008 4 years ago 4
Bayshark needs to eat in a bathroom or a car. He is too excitable and negative and would likely disturb the meals of people around him.
odopuppy 4 years ago 2

Props to breastfeeding moms... keep on truckin'.
