  • wow that is a really nice blade

  • ive really been thinking about buying one but are they tuff ? and were do u buy em ?

  • @Maddawwg45 - Knifeworks sells them. Tough? Well, it is a wood handle and average thickness blade, no more tough or weak than what it is. There's extra thick fixed blades, ESEE, Rat, and TOPS knives all have their hard use models.

  • @WeAllJuggleKnives yea i guess thats what i was getting at was wondering if the white or blue steel is tuffer then the say vg-10 ,laminated or say 5160 spring steel in other words are they worth the money id be using it cause i dont believe in owning something thats just gonna sitin a display case day after day and not be used at some point

  • @Maddawwg45 - Blue Steel is Hitcahis best steel in the color series, not a metallurgy expert, but I believe it is tougher than VG-10 yes. I'm not sure exactly on White Steel, just that it is lower grade than Blue. 5160 is very tough, I don't think they'd be as tough as that.

  • @WeAllJuggleKnives

Blue isn't better. It's all about what you're after. White is a cleaner steel that takes on a keener edge.

Blue has added materials which makes it tougher, but with larger carbides. So it won't be able to take as keen an edge.

    Both are great though.

  • hay brother now if your looking to get me anything for xmas haha amazing knife

  • Thanks for all your videos man, you help me big time bro.

  • @arakno1 - hey no problem, glad i could help

  • hey man, 15 layers means there's a core layer, then 7 each side around it.

  • @ruofish Thanks man, that is what I was thinking.

  • hawt

  • Nice video. I need to get my hands on this blade.

  • Nice vid of a nice knife. You can check the length of the tang on a knife like this with a strong magnet.

Regarding the Japanese, this particular model is not written as either 日-day/sun- or 火 -fire. Kanetsune calls their knife 飛 which is flying/jumping.

Btw. Japanese "HI" isn't pronounced like the English greeting, but more like the pronoun "he" with a slight hiss to the h.

  • Now thats a f*#@ing beautiful knife, really nice new knife Israel.

    Mike.

  • @WeaponCollector Thanks Mike, I like your tactical meat cleaver! ~Israel

  • That is a great looking blade on that knife. Great review!

  • i've never seen a bamboo sheath before, it looked real good with the dark brown leather straps, would def. be a nice collectors piece

  • I love this blade man! I'm planning to display mine on the mantle or hang it up along with the Shinobi:)

  • outstanding reveiw of his beautiful blade Sensei, i realy digg the overall look of the blade, could the 15 layers mean it has a total of 30 layers(15 times x 2)? anyway just beutiful, cheers for sharing best wishes and stay safe Sensei.

  • where do you store all these knives,......there is 365 days in a year and you have a new knife every other day,...thats over a 180 knives a year,....lol hope you have a full tank in your car.....keep em comin'

  • @Special0ps7 this is true......im one of the numbers who view each of your vids and appreciate your free knowledge.

  • Im really loving those Kanatsune knives! I'll have to get one soon ;)

You're absolutely right about the damascus.

They start out with one layer and fold in in half, making it 2 layers. Then they fold those 2 over which makes 4, then 8, 16, 32, 64 etc.

  • Maybe it's made like Shun kitchen knives... Shun knives have a softer steel damascus on the outside with a VG-10 core for edge retention and strength. Perhaps they have a solid core of the same steel the damascus is made of for a finer edge and they count that as a layer? Like you said, damascus is folded multiple times so it should have an even number of layers... or it could just be a typo... lol

    However it's made, it's a beautiful knife!

  • Gorgeous!

  • beautiful knife, sensei!

  • could it be that the fifteenth layer is the core layer that comprises the cutting edge itself ? just a thought. of course, that would leave seven (uneven) layers on either side of the core steel. nevermind. lol

  • @mickthepope Exactly. That's what it is.

  • I'm liking the Norwegian OD fleece , knifes not bad either. :P
