  • its amazing how he went from this to heavy metal, back then hard rock didnt even exist

  • I love the crooning Ronnie back then too.

  • Good looking group .

  • Dio left the rockabilly crap to spend 9 years worth of breaking his back in pilgrimage after the rainbow's end, found it, and came back as a Metal messiah to pass on the message..

  • remmember also the singel : love is all ( dio /glovers ) r i p Dio

  • mike patton AKA faith no more... and then no more

  • @Gcrash95 Mike Patton, for example, can sing all you mentioned and much more. The difference is, he never confines himself to a single style. Can you imagine Dio breaking into "An Angel Is Missing" in the middle of, say, his 80's Dio concert? I cannon, and that's exactly the reason why I think Mike Patton is a far greater talent than Dio has ever been.

  • @MeatTycoonDevious

    Mike who?

  • @TheManofFest Lost your glasses?

  • @MeatTycoonDevious

    I have 15/20 vision

  • @TheManofFest Sounds likely. Too bad you only have one eye, and it's located deep up your larger intestine.

  • @MeatTycoonDevious

No, I'm pretty sure both my eyes are in my head.

  • @95holydiver

I doubt Dio would like you using slurs for gay people on anything let alone on something that has his music on it.

  • I wish i could find the chords to this somewhere :(

  • It's incredible. But true. R.I.P. Ronnie

  • @benjaminkinkaidiris

Westboro are just some faggots. If they would use thier brain they would notice that Ronnie got it's name "Dio" from Johnny Dio, a Mafia Boss from the 60's.

  • Comment removed

  • @the41stgrave

dude... no just no. Look again at Wikipedia and then we can talk again.

  • @benjaminkinkaidiris dumb troll is dumb.

  • what year is this?

  • @RomanianGuitarRock I think 1960

  • @Kampfradieschen 1958 actually.

  • @RomanianGuitarRock 58 i think

  • @RomanianGuitarRock 57 i bielieve.

  • lol dio

  • Well, I've gotta admit, Dio, I like your later style better. But, for the 50s, this is pretty good

  • Play this, then play Heaven and Hell by Black Sabbath right afterwords. IT'LL BLOW YER MIND!!!

  • This is just so baddass. Love it,

  • too bad this amazing recording was well known after his dead

  • Dio has been a part of my life for a long time, i recently been looking into his very early career, and i find he is even more amazing than i originally thought and thats a tall order he was already my favorite singer and song writer ever, he could truly sing anything. i miss him so much, music has truly lost a legend, he deserves far more credit than he gets, i met him twice and he was a very good man,a rock star in every sence of the word, yet he treated his fans like gold.

  • @judas0u812 so what your saying about treating like gold is that he mined the people out of the ground and sold them to companies to melt and make stuff?

  • @jspider27393 no what i'm saying is that he is far better than axle rose ever thought of being yet axle treated his fans like they owed him dio was always thankful to his fans is all i meant. one of the best music has ever seen is gone this is no place for sarcasm you know what i meant any how i'm sure your not that dumb or am i mistaken?

  • dedicate this song to Linda Marconi

  • Nice find!

  • Ronnie reminds me of William blake's philosophy, as was potrayed in "The Marriage of Heaven and Hell". Literally, his voice was not angelic nor devilish. Was both and none. A metaphysical amalgam of heaven and hell. I would love to see these songs released again though...

    R.I.P. Sir Ronnie

  • WOW!!! Very impressed!!!! DIO!!!!

  • My sister and her husband were friends with Ronnie when he had the band "ELF"...It's strange that I never knew this about him..are there any LIVE Videos of This Band..or one with the Prophets?

  • AWESOME.

  • Amazing singer - in whatever genre! RIP Elf.

  • I'd love to see a movie on RJDs life, documentary would be best (with loads of extras) but really anything.

  • @EvilOak27 RJD documentry...Awesome idea! Ronnie has to be one of the all time epic stories of rock music. As a simple comparison Elvis was still alive in 1975, and he wasn't knocking down songs like Man On The Silver Mountain. I'll check the Dio website. If no-one has mentioned doing this, i'll start a blog there. I know Wendy Dio reads through it.

  • I cry...

  • Arrrrrrrrrrrrrrrgh!!!

  • It's when you listen to stuff like this that you realise what an enormous legacy Dio left behind. When the first metal band, Sabbath, started out, he already had many years of musical experience behind him.

Seeing Dio in 2003 was the first and one of the best concert experiences I've ever had. He was one of the most significant influences and driving forces within the now enormous and varied metal genre. His death was the only time I've ever felt genuinely sad about the loss of a famous person.

  • It's funny listening to Mob Rules, and then listening to this.

If no one told me, I would never know this was Dio.

  • you can tell its ronnie,

DIO waiting to break out of his shell and sing heaven and hell.WORD

  • This proves Dio could sing anything. I bet he could rap, but noone wants that to happen. I would still listen to Dio if he rapped, that's how awesome he is. R.I.P. Dio

  • Fucking DIO up this bitch.

  • Ronnie who was an Elf went under a Rainbow on a solo journey to Heaven and Hell.

  • Wonderful song!

  • I wonder who owns the rights to this? re-release please

  • Too bad the song wasn't as good as his voice and the arrangement. Times do change, but he was right with it for this one. RIP Ronnie.

  • WOW!!! Horns UP, Dio!

  • I cant believe this is dio. Its great.

  • This is incredible, I have been a Dio fan since I was 15 and have just now heard this really old stuff. Its awesome, a completely different style of music he is in, what an incredible guy. Elf, Rainbow, Black Sabbath and Dio solo stuff. RIP. He was the first fallen Metal God

  • @EvilDeadHateCrew dio never went solo, dio is the name of the band

  • @billgeezeriommi So ozzy never went solo? So david lee roth never went solo? So Rob Zombie never went solo? So King Diamond never went solo? so danzig never went solo? so Elvis was never solo?

  • @EvilDeadHateCrew all those except danzig went solo danzig was also the name of the band, and dio was the name of the band

  • @billgeezeriommi what makes King Diamond a solo artist but not Dio? you make no sense at all, because guess what, king diamond is the name of the band. its not like they are king diamond and the mothers of invention

  • @EvilDeadHateCrew wow i didnt know king diamond was the name of the band, ok im sorry man i havent been explaining myself well ronnie james dio left sabbath and decided to name his band after himself, its sorta like how hades is the ruler of the underworld and the underworld is also known as hades, it was named after its ruler

  • @billgeezeriommi idiot

  • WoooooW what a career Ronnie James Dio's even if he did look like a twat in the 50's RIP Ronnie !!! :)

  • Ronnie, is it Heaven or Hell?

    Missing you....

Sorry about those @ssholes shouting at eachother.....

  • I just can't understand why Dio is dead and Fred Phelps is still alive.

  • No musician no one !!! Has the diverse career as Ronnie James Dio!! This is truly amazing !

  • A simpler time when Holy divers where angels

  • @DimensionsofChange were*

    And Beatles were Quarrymen

  • The haircuts <3

  • R.I.P. as a legend!

  • so this means Dio ws Singin before the Beatles could play a single note!

    a Legend

  • @motlencore89 Several years ago I came across some of these songs as sung by Dio and I couldn't believe it, and I have been a fan for 25 years. Amazing legacy. Have you heard 'love is all you need' from the grasshopper ball or the stuff he did with Kerry Livgren from Kansas?

  • They all say Elvis was the king of Rock N' Roll but I say its Ronnie James Dio.

  • @jimmygrunts Well, Elvis was a "king" I think of dio as a God of rock/metal.

  • @zyclior Lol! Dio didn't die, he was abducted by aliens!

  • Alright, this changes everything. Ronnie was a true singer and performer. All that metal stuff (Sabbath, Holy Diver and Last in Line) is irrelevent right now. Remember, this music was the hottest thing in the fifties and early sixties long long long before metal lurked its head into the world. Ozzy who? Dio is simply amazing. Funny how you don't know the details about people until they pass away. Absolutely beautiful gem.

  • @302zman without Ozzy there be no fucking metal, he assembled the members of Sabbath together at a music shop, with a sign that said Ozzy's zig needs a gig. so fuck you show respect to the God of metal. however thats not to say Dio is is the grandest warlock of the realm of metal.

  • @MaestroInfernus Your mother is retarded. POSER

  • @302zman Excuse the fuck out of you? cunt. Your lucky im not there to kick the shit out of you, and btw are you pissed because i happen to know a fucking library's worth of musiocal info more than you'll ever know?

  • @302zman My mother’s a fucking genius who graduated highest in her class, you fucking dumb troll, By the way my mother was married woman, and I was born planned and with a purpose, unlike your illegitimate worthless bastard ass. Your mother wasn’t even smart enough to put a condom on the fat grease monkey she screwed in an alleyway, but I doubt sluts often think before committing there atrocious acts of inhumanity.

  • Poser, what the fuck do you know about music any music as a whole; tell me exactly the exact line of influence it took to make rock n roll as a whole. Also how long does it take to respond to an obvious insult, it took you about a week delayed much fucking retard.

  • P.S the only way you knew who Ronnie James Dio was through the news report of his death, and then decided to investigate his works starting from his earliest career and then think you’re a know it all about his life. Faggot, piss off you don’t know shit.

  • @MaestroInfernus Holy shit dude, relax. Reeeelax.

  • @NioYagami no fuck you, tell that nutless cunt to relax, I have every right to be pissed

  • @MaestroInfernus

Your mother is retarded. She wears a chinstrap. Ha!

  • @MaestroInfernus damn dude watch out for that high blood pressure, you might die

  • speechless

  • "From the dawn of Rock N Roll to the last stages of Heavy Metal" in my opinion he should be Elvises or the Beatles status right?

  • My stepdad was the manager for Ronnie when this song came out (and incidentally, Nick's brother), also part of this group. He remarks that he's still shocked this song was not a bigger hit than it was. It's got a great sound, even today. Ronnie's definitely missed...

  • I was just sitting here wondering how much Dio my mom jammed to...not knowing the metal god he was to become. Dio was, is, and will always be one of the best singers that ever lived. I grew up with his jam, and I will grow old with his jam. DIO ROCKS FOREVER!

  • it seems like dio has been rockin for 1000 years

  • Dio, thanks for all your music, a legend passed away, but his music will live with us forever, the heavy metal have lost one of the most greatest singers, and person, goodbye Ronnie, we will miss you.....LONG LIVE ROCK N ROLL.

  • Wow this man has had some career!!

  • Good gods, I recall that this song got airplay on regional radio when I was a little kid...Ronnie James Dio, the music of my life.

  • I'd like to hear this band cover Holy Diver

  • unbelievable the man never lost that golden voice!! it only got better, R.I.P. Ronnie you are certainly missed

  • 0:39 i love how every1 is smiling and dio is like glaring at you

  • He would've been in his late teens when this came out, wouldn't he? (born in 1942)More than 50 years of recording music, wow. Rest in Peace!

  • i need to show this song to my mom she would like it!

  • RONNIE JAMES DIO....RIP...BRO....

  • Holy cow! I had no idea Dio has such a history! I saw this guy about 10 years ago in Red Rocks and he really kicked ass! Man on a Silver Mountain is my favorite. I can't believe this song contains the same voice. And now I can't believe he's gone. That's just too bad. He'll be sorely missed.

Time to go searching for Man on a Silver Mountain. Via con DIOs!

  • ..i mean ...think about it, Ronnie James Dio is actually on recorded vinyl before The Beatles !!!

  • @ccbm2112

    correct- by one year

Ronnie's first vocal's (this song) goes back to 1960- I believe the Beatled officially first appeared on vinyl (prior to an official recording contract) was in 1961

  • Oh mother nature!!!!!!

Is Dio singing this nice song? I can't believe it!!!!!!! But, I like the fact that Dio up date himself in fashion and music style. RIP \,,/

  • THE GREATEST MUSICIAN THAT EVER LIVED.........

  • and the angel who´s missing is you dio!!!

  • @marcusmalmros haha hell ya man! well said!

  • @ZombieHouseFresnoCA its true....

I´ve seen dio two times ones in heaven and hell 2007 and ones with DIO 2009.

An i just cant belive what happend, he always been there...

  • sad to live to see dio gone!! may he be raising hell in heaven!!

  • Oh my god! This is incredible

  • he played the trumpet and the bass also in this band

  • haha dio to the left,,, the picture in the begginig, its nearly makes me cry,,,, :'(

  • preciosa

  • That's actually what surprised me about his death - his age. He's the same age as my father, who never listened to anything past this sort of stuff (50s). And yet here is Dio, basically a metal god, that same age.

  • @DiscoJer

This is my situation exactly.....my father is actually two years older than Dio, and was totally bewildered by rock music let alone heavy metal, and how some guy basically his own age ended up involved in it. :-)

  • THis kicks ass, DIO was born a singer. No matter what genre

  • Now an angel is truly missing.

  • dio isnt a hard rock legend hes a metal god and this is so funny that dio started hear and evolved into one of the greatest heavy metal singers of all time ,hes gonna be missed bigg timeee , R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio.

He was all Elvisish at one point. LOL

  • I'll throw up my devil horns to this. Hell yeah! His voice was just so dreamy smooth back in that era!

  • R.I.P. Ronnie James Dio, The greatest metal vocalist of all time!

  • Hmmm these lyrics are almost reminiscent of his metal years, with angels and such. R.I.P. The greatest vocalist in all of metal history

  • What a veteran!

    RIP, RJD.

  • THERE'S NO SIGN OF THE MORNING COMING. YOU'VE BEEN LEFT ON YOUR OWN, LIKE A RAINBOW IN THE DARK. rip RONALD JAMES PADAVONA
