Very nice video, Jan! This is a teaching that needs to be understood by all Christians. We are not saved by works, lest we should boast. Thanks so much for sharing!
Why, then, was the law given? It was given alongside the promise to show people their sins. But the law was designed to last only until the coming of the child who was promised. God gave his law through angels to Moses, who was the mediator between God and the people. Galations 3:19 read it for yourselves.
THANK YOU! People try to complicate the bible. Satan wants us to doubt ourselves and to create confusion in everyone's heads. This is the biggest way he can rob us whether it makes us lose our "salvation" or not. It angers God because as we know, He is a jealous God and he wants credit where credit is due.. JESUS CHRIST! People, great news!! We are NOT under the law. It's very plain and simple to see yet so many refuse to accept it. (see next post)
Hallelujah, preach the Truth! When we follow God's commandment to love Him with all our heart, soul, mind, and strength, then it is thereby the natural ORDER of God that we will follow Him with zest, proof so to speak, which is our service. We are already resting in Him by His grace, works exist so that we might somehow please Him in this flesh because we love Him so much. As a policeman once told me, when we respect others, then the natural order of things, is that we won't break the law.
Great Video Jan - you have some beautiful images to compliment the Words of Faith. God bless you, and may the LORD continue to inspire you with more and more fresh Gospel -Video revelations to bless the world with, AMEN!!!
Amen!! Too many add to the Gospel of Salvation and it's turning many people away from Faith. Faith produces works of the Holy Spirit and that is only by the grace of God, that we move and abide in His love and direction (Direction= torah translated as law). God Bless You in your ministry.
(HE knows our hearts) IN FAITH, we seek to do HIS WILL .. & THAT IS HIS WILL! “IN HIM”, it is the work of THE HOLY SPIRIT that prompts & enables us to carry out HIS WILL, thus producing the “Fruit of The H.S.”+
*2 JOHN 1, JOHN 14, +EPH 5, GAL 5
16 Now may Our LORD Jesus Christ Himself, AND Our GOD AND FATHER, WHO HAS LOVED US and given us everlasting consolation and good hope by grace, 17 comfort your hearts & establish you in every good word & work. - 2 Thes 2
IF we're “TRUSTING IN HIM”, we will seek to do HIS WILL, not our own! Otherwise, where IS the Faith, where IS the TRUST? Truly? (In whom are we trusting?) HIS WAY IS ALWAYS THE BEST WAY! To disregard HIS commandments* / WILL is evidence that it's NOT HIM we're trusting! ( in essence we're telling HIM that we think we know better than HE DOES!) Faith w/out works = no faith, works w/out faith = no faith ..neither is acceptable. This is why HE WILL say to some; “I do not know you”! ...
I've come to understand: We are saved by the Grace OF GOD, which cannot be earned .. but is recv'd THROUGH ~F~A~I~T~H~ “IN JESUS”; WHO IS the propitiation for sins, set forth by THE FATHER. The biggest problem is many do not realize; There is a HUGE (detrimental) DIFFERENCE between believing that “There IS A GOD!” or “There IS GOD & out of HIS LOVE, HE sent HIS SON..” (even demons KNOW THIS IS TRUE!), and “Believing 'IN GOD'”! To “believe IN HIM” is to TRUST IN HIM! Faith = TRUST! ...
The real question is, have you been changed and received eternal life through faith in the sacrifice of Jesus Christ for your sins once for all 2000 years ago, or are you still trying to do it your own way? Either you are saved and the Holy Spirit lives in you, or you are lost and do not have the Holy Spirit living in you.
Excellent video. Repentance requires that you acknowledge that you are not good enough. There are dead works of people trying to justify themselves, and then there are God's works through people with faith in Him. Trying to claim that your own works get you to Heaven is like putting whip cream on dog manure.
Hello Brother. This video is the most important video that you have made. It addresses the most important questions (outside of the Deity of Christ). Thank you for this excellent message and I will add this to my playlist: FAITH ALONE PROVEN.
all you faith alone lutheran 1500 doctrine believers, please understand that your doctrine is quite new in christian history. go out and do works and stop being self deluded lazy chrisiians. go do some work and be fearful and humble with minds and attitudes
@gerryboy101 While clearly in the 1st century, Paul taught salvation by faith alone (Rom.3:28), KNOWING that we are saved by faith alone & that God will keep us in the faith IS conditional (2 Pet.1:3-11) Ie., God doesn't give absolute ASSURANCE to Christians who persist in sinning unrepentantly. But all who trust in Christ alone, who try to do His will (works), & repent and confess can KNOW they're going to heaven. Works confirm our salvation by Christ alone.
@Ads4Christ i can agree... but i still agree on works. the world needs major works. it's 100% logical. thats why believing in faith and works is better. lets use some logic and not defend laziness
Also remember in James, it says Faith without works is dead, NOT Salvation without works is dead. Faith and Salvation are two different things, and so many seem to put the word Salvation in, rather then faith.
I am so glad that when I die, it will be Jesus that the Father sees covering me, not my so called works.
@carpentersdaughter2 Excellent comment! Maybe it will clear up some confusion if we remember that we are saved by faith alone. But KNOWING that we are saved by faith alone & that God will keep us in the faith IS conditional (2 Pet.1:3-11) Ie., God doesn't give that kind of ASSURANCE to Christians who persist in sinning unrepentantly. But all who trust in Christ, try to do His will (works), & repent and confess can KNOW they're going to heaven. Works confirm our salvation by Christ alone.
I want to encourage you despite all the negative comments that were made here. As you know nothing irks them more then the Grace of God. They just want to bring their burden on others.
what scares me thought is this. there is only one Gospel, and works is not it. So what happens to those who rely on their works. Will Jesus say to them depart from me, I never knew you? I really wonder about this.
@carpentersdaughter2 Hi Linda! Yeah...that concerns me as well. I know it's a serious matter to add works (Gal 1), but I also know that many good Christians, usually unknowingly, think they must contribute to their salvation. I believe (hope) God will recognize their true faith, even tho they are confused on the matter. Thankfully, we are saved by faith, not by how well we understand God's Word! There is hope! God bless!!!
@Ads4Christ I sure hope so, but all these faith and works believers think that when the verse says the gate is narrow and few will enter, they think it is the faith alone believers and it just may be that they are the ones who don't make it. God doesn't want us to take any credit away from his Son. I love Galations 2:21 (KJV)I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness [come] by the law, then Christ is dead in vain. or in the (NIV) "Christ died for nothing!"
Ended it with a quote from Luther? Well that figures, since he invented the concept of faith alone 1500 years after Christ. I wonder why he took the book of James out of the Bible and called it an "epistle of straw" if it so clearly says what you claim it is saying. It's kind of funny that all of the quotes you provide, the one from James is the only one that has the words faith and alone, and it is to say we are not saved by faith alone. Go figure.
@100PercentCatholic Well my friend, if you want to live out your faith believing you contribute to your salvation, not knowing whether you will make it to heaven or or not (which is in question according to (Galatians 1:6-9), that's your choice. I will continue to to believe the clear Scripture KNOWING that I, and all who sincerely trust in Jesus Christ alone (John 3:16?), will DEFINITELY be in heaven. I will pray for you, as I'm sure you will pray for me!
@Ads4Christ I never understood the need for some to attack Catholics for doing good works. If we are saved by faith alone, wouldn’t Catholics be saved because they have faith? But what if works do play a part, did you ever think about what the consequences might be? When you meet God and he asks you what you did on Earth to allow you into heaven, what will happen if you do not have a good answer? Read Mat 25:31-46 and respond. Were the people saved by their deeds or their faith alone?
@gerryboy101 Well, that's certainly the Roman Catholic view. Your dependence on faith AND works is probably why you don't know for sure you're going to heaven; maybe...you don't have enough good works. On the other hand, we know because salvation is NOT dependant on US in any way...just our faith in Jesus Christ. "I write these things to you who BELIEVE in in the name of the Son of God so that you may KNOW you have eternal life." (1 John 5:13) You see any works in that my friend?
@Ads4Christ Philippians 2:12b-13 "...work out your salvation with fear and trembling; for it is God who is at work in you, both to will and to work for His good pleasure" :)
again i say faith and works. anyone who thinks different in incorrect. keep reading
@gerryboy101 While faith alone saves us, the ABSOLUTE ASSURANCE that HE will keep us in the faith is NOT given to Christians who make no effort to be faithful. In that sense, you are correct (2 Pet.1:3-11). That doesn't mean we contribute to our salvation; it means to know beyond a doubt that our faith alone says us is given to those who strive to be faithful & who repent & confess when we fail. Keep reading? No offense, but I've read the Bible probably close to 50 times. How about you?
@Ads4Christ i read it all the time, but not from a lutheran perspective. working out your salvation with fear and trembling describes an attitude quite contrary to modern day christian sects. sooo many modern day christians carry a very blind arrogant attitude in regards to salvation. they seem to think they have a one way ticket. the scripture i pointed out makes it very very clear. btw, even if you read the bible 1000 times memorized it does not mean you understand all of it. just sayin...
@Ads4Christ In 1 Corinthians 4:5 Paul writes “I am not conscious of anything against me, but I do not thereby stand acquitted; the one who judges me is the Lord.” How could anyone be assured of their salvation when we clearly see here that not even Paul is assured of his own salvation?
@100PercentCatholic Good to hear back from you my friend! Scripture does not contradict itself, and..one argues from the clear to understand the less clear. Clearly, Paul said works are not involved in salvation (Rom.3:28) & John says, we can know (1 John 5:13). What Paul is saying, is.."I'm not aware of any sin, but that doesn't mean I am without sin" & even unknown sins have consequences (judgment) in this life. They need to be recognized, repented of & confessed.
God saves us, He begins a work in us, and by the power of the indwelling Holy Spirit, He changes our desires and motives to line up with His will. In ourselves, we do not have the ability to do even one good thing pleasing to God, but when we are led by the Holy Spirit, He changes our focus from self to Christ, resulting in works that bear testimony of our faith.
Php 2:13 "For it is God which worketh in you both to will and to do of his good pleasure."
Excellent video--and the quote by Luther at the end was perfect. This is actually a paradox that Luther had a difficult time with--in that Rom 3:28 and James 2:24, which appear to be saying the direct opposite, are both true. Rom 3:28 is positional sacification--this is what is needed for salvation. James 2:24 is experiential sactification-this is what is needed for the spiritual growth of the positionally sanctiied believer.
The "no works" doctrine has been created by those who hate others that keep the commandments of God and love walking the straight and narrow.path.
The "no works" doctrine is embraced by the slackers who love having their wounds licked, they love being told that no matter how much they live like the world that their still going to heaven as long as they "believe"
@OLDTIMER1969 Friend, respectfully, you are missing the point. Rom 3:28 and James 2:24 are both true, even though they appear to be directly opposite. "Faith Alone" is required for salvation (Rom 3:28) then Good Works naturally grow out of our foundation of Faith Alone as a part of our spiritual growth as we were created for them:
For we are His workmanship, created in Christ Jesus for good works, which God prepared beforehand so that we would walk in them. Eph 2:10
What I find interesting; is that when ever I attempt to give my testimony that I have been saved since 1970, and have not at all gone back to the ways of the world, I get accused of self righteous works just because I no linger drink, cuss, lie, cheat, steal, I guess I infuriate those who don't have that kind of a testimony. so we don't dare keep the commandments because that would be "werx"

Salvation comes from faith alone; but granted, all other blessings come from doing God's will, ie., works (John 13:17). But clearly, Biblically, works plan no role in our salvation. The reason some think you are self-righteous is because your very words boast of your righteousness. (Eph.2:8,9)

We are saved from our sins as a free gift.
We were saved for a purpose, to do good works which God prepares.
God does not prepare filthy rags.
We were called to bear the fruit of righteous works. It is God at work in us.
If we do not bear the fruit of good works, we are cut down and thrown into the fire. Jesus said so.
