@JamesLeit He has insulted people after a few drinks, notably in Indiana - at radio radio. Don't get me twisted, i enjoy JTE - but his outburst there just solidified that artist are no better nor any worse than use layman : )
Hahaha at like 2:03 he totally makes a Steve face. I see Steve do that in a lot of his vids when hes about to sing a verse but hes a tad bit early. I love it haha
This song is pretty darn close to being a perfect song! It is an honest account of the way he feels about the way he grew up with Steve always gone and how people always hold he and his father together but he gives all the credit to his mama! Great song! Great voice! great playing and a true hope for the Nashville sound!
this song describes me perfectly lol, no lies. I am Daddy's boy but we're always butting heads, but I am tall and skinny like my mother with her eyes. Beautiful song, love it.
incredible, i've only been able to see Justin once, but hopefully he will be able to reschedule his Minneapolis date and come see us again.....so good....
(cont) When Steve finally came on, he was semi-incoherent. That night, I said To Hell with him. It was 20 years before I picked up another Steve CD. I hope Steve has straightened himself out. I do really like his writing and I'm glad to see his son is equally as talented; I just pray he doesn't fall into the same pit of dispair his Father had fallen into.
I'm glad to see I'm not the only one who thinks this guy is fantastic, and that his Dad burned a lot of bridges with his fans, through his drug use. I was a huge Steve fan from the moment I first saw Guitar Town on CMT back in '86. We went to see him during the Coppherhead Road tour, and it was a very cold night. Apparently, Steve didn't have his act together, and we were made to wait out in the cold for hours until they let us in; then it was another hour before the show finally started.
I feel so fortunate to have seen Justin play this song live in a barn. A man in the presence of of children wondering where this kind of writing comes from, even though the song explains it all. We sit in awe.
real country is right on it. corporate americas version of country is a joke. i hate being force fed the garbage they put out nowadays. i;ve always been into the underground music scene. to tell you the truth i hope jte never gets famous. i love his songs just the way they are.
@hued1 Are you kidding me? Steve is great, he's had his troubles, but he is still a great singer and songwriter. Steve doesn't disagree with his son's evaluation, either. He recognizes his flaws and owns them all.
The mandolin player is Cory Younts. He's played with JTE for awhile, but according to a recent tweet from JTE, he has "moved on to bigger and better things." Cory played with Justin on The Big Surprise Tour this summer, so that might be the OCMS connection.
@fromage282 You are right, his name is Cory Younts, he left JTE to join Old Crow. With JTE he played an abundance of instruments, but only Mandolin with Old Crow.
Saw him for the first time with Kasey Chambers & Shane Nicholson in St. Paul this summer and he was amazing! His songwriting is heartfelt and incredible. This is my favorite song this year by far!
I just saw him in Chicago, opening for Jason Isbell and the 400 unit. I'd never heard of him, but I sure I'm glad we got there early. He blew me away!
@valverdista For me too. I can't think of a better way to enter into the New Year. My son is in Iraq.....I hope he will see I posted this on facebook since that's all these kids get into these days. Yet, I'm almost certain he won't even bother to check it out. Oh the time how it all escapes us before we know it, and then it's gone and what is left execept memories
Who's the jerk that disliked this video? I mean c'mon, man.
