Tell ya what westofthefield,he had a good start, 1 for 2, with a strike out, a booming triple to a shade left of center field, run scored, and 2 walks.
@twel603 There's a video posted by SacRiverCats of Rizzo hitting an opposite field homer on April 25th here on YT. If he can go opposite with power like that, you guys will have found your younger A-Gon. And I'll be cheering for him (except when they play the Sox in interleague next month.)
@westofthefield, well westofthefield, Rizzo had in what my opinion was a pretty good ML debut. 1 for 2 with a bogus strikeout (about 6 inches inside the plate for strike 3). Then in his next at bat, he hit a triple that was about couple feet short of hitting it out, just left of centerfield and 2 outs later, he scored a run. Then in his last 2 plate appearences, he got 2 walks.
@westofthefield, I'll say this much westofthefield, I haven't seen a whole lot of Rizzo in person, but the one time I saw him in Spring Training in Arizona back on March 9th, and I was like holy crap. This kid can hit. Anyways in that game he had a booming opposite field homerun and a ridiculous double. Anyways if can produce like that in the Majors for the Padres, he will make the Adrian Gonzalez trade a lot more tolerable (from at least a Padres fan point of view).
Rizzo was traded, along with Casey Kelly and Raymond Fuentes, to the San Diego Padres' Adrian Gonzalez on December 4, 2010. Good luck Anthony! Red Sox minor league fans/ followers will miss you. Good luck in San Antonio or Tucson!
