I'm 65 yrs.old...and I was in Bangkok in 1967 For R & R. Via Viet-Nam.,Fell in Love with a beautiful Thailand Girls ...We spent 2 wks.Of unforgettable Time mostly in Horizontal Positions....Man! I.ll never Forget.!
the first time i heard this song was some 25 years ago. i was about ten and still remember it. it was in the electro department, i was standing in front of a wall of tv sets staring and listening - lovin it instantly .
i just think this song is plain awesome. am i the only one who sees soundwave narrating the whole thing, with starscream and the many seekers singing this? and im talkin 80s seekers and soundwave. :P
First time I heard this I thought I heard "One night in Bangkok and the world's your Hutspa" and "You'll find a god in every golden Hutspa" it confused me and I was like...Golden Hutspa? All right, I guess I can go with that.
First time I heard this I thought I heard "One night in Bangkok and the world's your Hutspa" and "You'll find a god in every golden Hutspa" it confused me and I was like...Golden Hutsa? All right, I guess I can go with that.
I was looking for this song for a long long time and it was last night that I saw the Hangover Part II and heard it at the end of the movie performed by M. Tyson and remembered the One Night In Bangkok quote and found it :). Great song!!
dude, who gives a shit what its about? chess, sex, boats n hoes...dont matter. muzyk is muzyk. great muzyk is great muzyk. lets face it, we ALL listen to this song for the simple fact that we have all heard the chorus somewhere, and where mesmerized by the sound of it, right?
The bars are temples but the pearls aint free, youll find a god in every golden cloister, a little flesh, alittle history....i can feel an angel sliding up to me. Ive heard this song many times...but never saw that out of it lol....
Yes, Google "The official website of the Bangkok Chess Club" and you can find details about the upcoming 2011 International tournament. You can also search Wikipedia for "Chess (musical)" and find a (long) article about the tournament, the song and surrounding facts.
Interesting... liking popular music after a 20/30 year delay means you have good musical taste. Just like enjoying classical music from centuries ago makes you a genius. I happen to like this song, and some classical music, for that matter, but sorry, that's BS.
guys why is it everybody do those comments towards eachother? this is for comments about the video not about other comments! and yes i know this isnt about the video but you guys should grow up and stop acusing eachother of different stuff all the time. and last but not least i love this song! awesome song!
I think that this wonderful song, with Der Kommissar sung by Falco, were pioneers of what was to become the real rap! But this is more orchestral ...... really nice! :-)
Just imagine if Yul Brynner ever DID go to this Chess tourney. It would be like Chuck Norris kicking Yul Brynner's butt and freeing the Jews in the 10 commandments movie.
@123452270 Not all of us are like that. I'm 16 and this is one of my favourite songs. some of my favourite artists are people like Gary Moore, ZZ top and Phil Collins. So while some of our generation may be musically challenged, not all of us are.
@KuroShinda I was 28 when this came out in 1984, dang, to you. I was old THEN! Glad you like, the beat is killer. I've made 111 playlists for every year since 1900, it's a musical time machine. Throw a party & freak out your buds playing music from the year your PARENTS were born ! ! !

@galahuth Have you even read the lyrics? 90% are about chess and that is unmistakable. But, I can see what you are saying, too. In fact, that would explain the few references that are not chess related.
@TheMrBlinx no its just double entendre mind you, this was a broadway show. . . the song is all about chess, but its all about setting up the second act (2 act plays were big in the 80's) so there is alot of other things going on while they talk purly about chess.
@TheMrBlinx well technically they came together (chickabowwow) but the song was written specifically for the musical so in proper context i would say the musical
@TheMrBlinx I believe you but you ask a question and i replyd with out thinking so i do not know why you are so frantic with your "Pay attention" and your "Google it" I am just a man who got a question wrong
@TheMrBlinx But I can hear slight hints towards alerting about the dangers of child prositution... But I still think Bangkok's a lovely city.^_^ But child prostitution = EVIL.
@TheMrBlinx Oh come on. There's no way it's just about chess. Ok, true the actual meaning of the song is about the chess tournament, but there are so many double entendres in this song it makes my head spin. Isn't that half the point anyway? Why do people only notice good songs like this because of crap movies like Hangover? I have a copy of this long before that dumb movie.
