  • You are actually quite incorrect Jez. Squirrels are very clean and disease-free animal. They are not a carrier of rabies. I've done a lot of research on squirrels. The only thing you have to ever be concerned with is their feces. Humans are much more dangerous to eachother than squirrels are.

  • Thanks we love them they come every nite never get tired of watching them

  • What a horrible comment - to be shooting them. We love our little visitors. I'd love to know how you shot it? My Muskoka video is a bit dark...

  • I used to shoot squirrels when I was a kid with my pellet gun. Squirrels are rodents and can carry diseases such as tick fever, powassan virus, rabies, and coccidiosis. Not to mention they carry fleas, tics, and may carry west nile virus from mosquito bites.

  • My clients have had H1N1, and students have had head lice - fortunately we didn't shoot THEM. My cats have fleas, we manage fine.

  • Oh...I didnt shoot them because of diseases. We did it mostly for fun. We used to sell the tails to make flies for fly fishing to my buddies dad.

  • dumbass flying squirrels cant carry ticks, fleas but normal squirrels i agree i shot them to but flying squirrels are bad ass

  • In March 2002, typhus fever was diagnosed in two patients residing in West Virginia and Georgia. Both patients were hospitalized with severe febrile illnesses, and both had been recently exposed to or had physical contact with flying squirrels or flying squirrel nests. Laboratory results indicated Rickettsia prowazekii infection....whos the dumb ass now dumb ass??

  • Source?

  • umm you can just google it, i'm sure you can find the article somewhere

  • to crazyman631&jezx21 cure your ignorance-those are just excuses to justify you killing animals that cause none of us or( you )any harm.i grew up with morons like you who used those same tired excuse(lies) to legitimize your disrespect for any life forms so according to you and no one else these beautiful peaceful creatures in your sick minds would have to die.you were probably bullies in school and your fathers beat you.-evolve sub-humans!

  • god bless kazakstan

  • I didn't know what this little creature was until yesterday at dusk. I was throwing black oil seeds and peanuts around my tree to feed the animals like I always do (it's 18 degrees in CT right now) and something flew over my head onto the tree. I was expecting to see a bird but I saw a tiny squirrel with big eyes right in front of me. I was amazed it was so close! After staring a bit, I went inside to find out what it was and I found this video. Thanks!

  • I had them too, a family of about six. I was feeding Grays for about three years, then one night I noticed them flying into the feeding house from my house. Then two Red Squirrels showed up and tried to take over and started bullying the 25 Grays. Had to live-trap and relocate the Reds. They were nasty. The Flyers were nesting in my garage attack and reall did a number on some wiring. Like most rodents, they can be very detructive. Fun to watch, though.

  • I just found one nesting in my wrens house that the birds have never used! I'm flipping out cause I didn't know they lived in the U.S. before. I'm going to start to feed it (them?).

Question. How do you get them used to you getting closer like that? If I found one in a box, does that mean there might be more than one nesting in that box?

  • im got a sugar glider .. over here dont sell flying squirrels

  • i plan to get one

  • I'm raising an orphan I found in Maine. I feed him baby formula for the next few weeks

  • Thanks for the post. Just saw two tonight for the first time since this past winter. I was glad to see them as we had a pretty intense winter this year (S Central WI). I don't feed them but may for the time to get some vids of them via IR lighting. Couldn't call that many in your vid a flock could you?!

  • they love bird food or malasses and peanut butter

  • I just discovered flying squirrels in my own yard a few nights ago and I was enchanted!
