That's not true. Parent may be watching you from the distance but won't abandon the babies. There were 2 babies in one of my plants and the parents always came, even if we checked the nest from time to time.
@philphotoman I think that's only when you touch them with naked hands. for five years I've had a nest of birds in my room and each year i've taken the newborns out with a glove and played with them, but the mother always comes back.
@philphotoman actuall that whole myth about touching a baby bird and the mother will leave is a total wives tale. bird have poor sence of smell so they will glady take them back.

That was a really idiotic thing to do. Dont ever go near bird nests. The parents will abondon them.
