  • love that first overtake, sounds sweet! btw, is that rear spoiler stock or from a 968? think it would look good on mine

  • cool video

  • nice car. Just dont like the US rear bumper..

  • awesome car!!

  • awesome car, i have had porsche 944 (1988). just great~!!!

  • great car bro, love it

  • anyone who says porsches are under rated NEED TO LOOOK AT THE FACTS! there the most reliable car on the road ( per cars built ), if im correct this year they stated that porsche had just 110 problems per 100 vehicles... best of any manufacturer ever. if you cant get that, look at there racing history, who has the most victories? whos the first sports car company spending millions upon millions of dollars on hybrid technology? anyone who says porsche are under rated are just plain lying.

  • nice vid man

  • orgasm sportscar

  • I miss my 951, stil regarded as one of the best handling cars in the world.

  • was this the turbo edition?

  • what a twat audi, vw and porsche worked together in making the 924s and 944 but the others backed out, 944 has such a good weight balance 50/50 and is an amazing car standard so yh it has some bits made by vw and audi and no its not cos its to posh, fucking tard

  • Fast Ride bitches!

  • These cars are one of the most beautiful and exciting cars ever made Period!

  • I am looking to buy one myself after an 07 Clio 197... I fancy a project... Similar 0-60, better 0-100mph...

Think ur attitude has attracted negative coments!

Tiss a bit arrogant... Lots of cars can overtake MPVs!

    The 944 2s 3l is a top car.

    All the best though.

  • :D good one

  • old car :)

  • @GTR307

right you are......and still kicking ass most wanna be sports cars ; )

  • Nice wheels, man!

  • @Tundramensch stock wheels ; )

  • Nice car, shit video

  • Awesome automobile ! underestimated by many , but that's another reason to love it.

  • I had a 1990 944S2 when I was 16. So much fun! I had to sell it for school though :( it was beautiful in the twisties.

  • lol i love the snail part

  • Hey everybody!

I am just finishing Auto school and I am looking foward to buy this incredibly awesome car.

But, I have to ask you something, would you suggest this car to a beginner please? Thanks

  • Well I learned to drive in a Porsche, And I have to say it wasn't as easy as driving my first car which was a 1997 sl600 Merc. I think its a great car if you want to put the money, and time into learning how to drive it with some passion.

  • hell yeah as long as its not the turbocharged version (951)

  • @qwercz1 pls don t. it s more hobby than an alldays car. and 211hp for a beginner? good chance that first corner is yours

  • "very much money if you want to buy a modern car that delivers the same or even more driving fun as the Porsche 944."

That is so false. E36 M3s are sold for like nothing these days.

  • What better than bmw e30 ?

  • I still think the 944S2 convertable is still the best looking car ever built!! Good performance , beautiful looks, solid engineering!! I nearly cried when I sold my 1990 S2 convertable!! great car. Ive had several Porsches after including 911 but that was my 1st love of Porsche!!

  • car is Ok but this video is just embarrassing.

    especially that snail sign.

  • I have 91 S2 Cab - mechanically sound but in need of little work on the body - love driving it - safe overtaking with the acceleration and "pisses off" boy racers at the traffic lights when I don't race away. I get roughly about 6 miles to the Litre/27miles to the gallon driving locally - far more on long runs. Never put my foot right down but she can still shift at about the 4,000 rev mark and she never sounds angry!

  • This is the sound track for the 13th Warrior, great movie, godly car dude.

  • Hi, Nice car, a little off subject but what does the 944 get for mileage? also how much head/leg room? I'm tall and have always liked the looks of the 944. Thanks! Happy Motoring.

  • Im 191cm tall and i have no Problems driving a 944. Definetely enough space even for a big driver and one big passenger.

  • Comment removed

  • Porsche!Best ingineered car in the world!Full stop..

  • I thought I'd add the requested correction that the 3.0L I4 in this car is not in fact the largest I4 ever produced in a production vehicle(as the quest for that knowledge led me to look up these cars) wanted to hear what a 3L 4 sounded like with an aggressive exhaust. Believe it or not one of the first Mercedes ever produced had a 35hp 6L I4. Would kill to hear that beast. Cool vid BTW love 944s.

  • Loved this. Awesome car, nice vid.

  • Nice!

  • Beauty

  • nothing bad, skylines (plus the new GT-R) are beautiful and much more technologically advanced, but when someone tells you they're driving a porsche there's a different connotation.

  • AHHH, so true. Plus, it's always nice to tell someone, "Yeah. My first car was a Porsche." The look on their faces...just don't tell a woman that, or else she might want you for your money, hah.

  • Dude thats funny you say that im looking into porsche 928s and 944s for my first car bad or good choice?????

  • NO WAY. I considered getting those two as well for my first! Anyway...I'd definitely say 944. Not because of looks or anything, I like them both (the 928 is more stunning imo), but man the 928 is a gas chugger (and consequently, very powerful), while the 944 is much more efficient, and has SUPERB handling...probably a bit cheaper to buy also. 944's are just plain FUN to drive around in.

  • As a good measure, used 944s should have a value of $10000USD or greater. There are going to be, say, $4300USD 944s, but you will pay an additional amount in repairs, etc. equaling to $10000USD 944s. I'm going to pick a 944 as my first car as well (hopefully!) 944s tend to be cheaper to insure but parts can get expensive.

  • you can get a much less expensive 944. (thousands less than 10 grand) that dont need a whole lot of work. i myself have a 1986 944 that ran great the day i got it. needless to say i didnt pay 10 grand for it. They are great cars. hope you find what you are looking for

  • yes, that is right... i just bought a '86 porsche 944 with just 90.000km run and in perfect condition. and it was about 11.500 us dollar...

that car is just awesome and has enough power for me. i don't need s, s2 oder turbo version.

one of the best looking cars ever built and definitely one of the most underrated sports cars!

  • but a skyline isn't a porsche. makes a difference.

  • what you mean with that ? skyline is cheap and beter porch isnt cheap and its slow as hell

  • Obviously you have never driven a Porsche.

  • I enjoyed very much your video clip, I own a 944 since 1995 and is my everyday car , funny driving, strong and safe sport car, timing belt is my only concern or weak point....

  • watch my response video and learn how to ride a porshe :P

  • you can get 1 on craigslist for under 5,000

why are the 9/11s like 20-30,000 when these are 5-12,000 bucks?hell for the money i like these better?

  • what is the weight of a 944?

  • The 944 is such a nice car, and im lookin at one for my first car this summer

  • Haha briliant, next time you need to have "Addicted to Love" blasting Gareth Cheesman style!

    Always liked the 944

  • The reason they're underrated sports cars is because car buffs say that they aren't real Porsches. I have a bit of a fancy for them though.

  • why arent they real porches?

  • Is that same car in NFS: PU?

  • yes!!! is this...it incluides 944 turbo, 944 turbo cabrio, 944 cabrio y 944 s2 cabrio

  • how much MPG (highway and city) can you get with a Porsche 944 Turbo?

  • I have no clue but if someone could post it i would be greatful

  • Great video! Love the snail alert. Good music also!

  • yea never buy a fiat stay by the porsche

coz it rocks fuck the fuel economy

  • great car, but please man, change those stocks rims LoL

I own an '83 944 2.5litre 163hp, its fun to drive and it definitely turns heads... in the next 2 yrs i'm going to get myself a 2.5litre turbo (220hp!!! stock) and push it to as much as +300hp :-)

  • The Euro Turbo is 250hp stock :D And whit a good chip u get around 270hp :D

  • S2 is good on gas...

I owned all 3 cars in my life1988- 944, 1990-944s2 and1986- 951 all 3 were the best cars i ever owned. i now have a 2001 Audi s4 and i think my old 951 was a better car.....i am in the market now....want to sell?

  • Snail signs had me trippin

  • nice vid man... you should put up more, all engine next time ;)

  • Hi Gerrit,

I like the 944. It's a nice car to look at and it has the ingredients of a small sportscar.

But the 944 3.0L is not the biggest 4 cylinder engine built in a production car. It already started in 1928 with the Model A Ford that used a 3.3L 4 cylinder engine. De Dietrich even made a 17.0L engine in their car, but I guess that's not considered a production car.

If you look at 'modern day' 4 cylinder engines, Pontiac built a large 3.2L version in their Pontiac Tempest of 1961.

  • Excelent car !

  • 944 s2 просто офигенная машина! Я в неё влюбился. Щас в Москве ищу достойный вариант для покупки.

    Автору завидую :) respect

  • Ok, my car looks somehow compressed on the x-axis and therefore higher than wide. Sadly these dumb assholes at youtube just dont seem to be able to get their software to work so that videos play at the original aspect ratio!!

  • @Gerrit944

First and foremost this is a beautiful Porsche. I love the way these old ones look, very nice.

Secondly, your description said the 944 S2 has the largest 4 cylinder gas engine ever used in a production car. I thought so too, but it turns out the largest 4 banger used started with the 1961 Pontiac Tempest at 195 cubic inches or 3.2L

  • @adogg619 but by the 1980s the Tempest was already discontinued.

  • the 924 was origionaly designed by Porsche for VW and Porsche made more money designing it that VW sold the production rights for

  • Great looking car, great color. Don't listen to the dorks who own fuel efficient cars (i.e. on this post). You have a great car there

  • u dont know the history of the porsche 924 you daft fock, porsche bought the 924 from vw for 60 million dollars due to vw was in financial trouble due to the oil crisis, so get your facts right before you make a fool of yourself, u daft focker,

  • Shit you really smoked that Ford Ka. Nice car

  • the mk1 m3 is a beautiful car compared to the porker 944, atleast the m3 dosnt look like a wedge of cheese, also the m3 has got all the racing pedigree u need, compared to porker,

  • dumb fock,, lol, u havnt got a clue u turkey shagger with a small dick,, the orginal 924 was built by vag, given the code name vw477, then sold to porsche due to the oil crisis, the 924 also has the same engine that goes into the vw campervan, so the car is not 100% porsche, so get ur facts rite,

  • get your facts straight first bub. Porsche, Audi, VW = The same factory = The same engineers. I just looked up my VW encyclepedia, and guess what, they've been doing this since the old 356A and B frames (using VW parts, and vice versa). Don't sit there and talk about oil crisis and vw selling to porsche, same manufacturer, bub.

  • nice porsche 944, but u chose the wrong colour

  • 924 was the so called "womens-porsche" it had an audi-engine, but the 944 is 100% pure Porsche with a Porsche-engine..it is fully zink-plated, mine is from ´87 and you don´t will find any rust

  • Better lookin? Oh my god! The sideview of the 1st m3 is comparable to the VW Jetta or the vento. Boring. Standard. Unimaginative. Family-car-like. The 944 has a timeless shape. Its design separated the car from most of the other cars of its time! These old BMWs just look oldfashioned. And even if they would be 3 times as fast as my 944...i wouldnt want them for free!

  • @Gerrit944 i agree with you bro m3's are boring looking, the 944 is a timeles classic, not saying i dont like m3's but the 944 is just way better looking, feels like there was more passion behind it as well.

  • @Gerrit944 all german cars dominate including vw!!!!

  • SycoFockinNoodles - what a dumb wanker you have proven to be.

  • @SycoFockinNoodles

common the porsche 356 is the most beautiful car ever built!

all other porsches rock too. the m3 is nice, but its a car for freakin jugoslawians

  • @SycoFockinNoodles all german cars dominate!!!

  • @SycoFockinNoodles porsches are over rated? and bmw's arent? i dont know many people that call a bmw an exotic car in north america...but they sure as shit call porsches exotic. beamers are like saabs in my books...they make a good anchor. Gerrit944 it is a very nice car, my dad has a 944 s2 convertible and it's so much fun to drive around in

  • @Mahoses i just mentioned the mk1 bmw m3 i didnt mention any other bmw model, the mk1 bmw is a gorgeous while just like all the porkers they are all UGLY (except 959) and you must look like a total dick head getting driven about in a s2 convertible,, in the uk if you was seen in a porsche you would have been spat on and getting shouted at you should have bought a proper sports car NOT a heap of crap

  • @SnuffHunter1 who said i get driven around? i didnt. and thats fine the UK can suck my cock for all i care,im a proud Canadian and we respect nice cars..BMW's however are a dime a dozen

  • lol audi designed and built the 924 or was it the 944, it was to fancy to be called an audi so they stuck on a few porsche badges and gave the car to porsche to get built,

  • Eh, I think it was the 924. They also had a VW engine in them, if I remember properly.

  • no the 924 had a audi 100 engine init

  • lol i like people who shoot off their mouth without having any clue what they are talking about.. Hahah! Technicaly, the 924 was a corporation between VW/Audi and Porsche. The Design is 100% Porsche. It was build mainly by the Audi factory in Neckarsulm.

  • @SycoFockinNoodles

944 is 200% porsche. you are 0% porsche

  • i hate porsche, they are just over rated, over priced german crap, the 944 is a fancy audi and the 911 is a beetle with a tuned engine and some fancy aerodynamics,, ur beter off getin a mk1 or a mk2 bmw m3, a proper german car,

  • ha ha fancy audi? your funny... my 944 could do wat a beamer dose, and it was cheaper...and you know who designed porsche right? the same exact person who created the beetle, the beetle was a affordable car that hitler had Ferdinand create, he also made tank engines, plane engines, and race engines for other manufactures, so you can say that they learned from the best...

  • Hahaha! I am always very amused when some people try to mock about or diss a classical sportscar and (in the same sentence!) recommend to buy a BMW!! The BMW M3 is an overpowered family car, a brick on wheels! Nothing else. It looks boring and does not have the timeles shape of the diverse porsche models. Of course, for people without a sense for form and design, the higher-powerded BMW models are just the right choice. :)

  • bmw's.. dime a dozen. nice vid.

  • i have a 1987 porsche 944 non turbo, can i swap it for a turbo engine or would it need to be customized? please help

  • it's the perfect car!

  • i totally agree

  • This dude has to put his lights down, they look silly...I have the same car in same color except 1991: updated airbag steering wheel as well as a normal spoiler--no more rubber! However, i do like his wooden trim...i don't think i'll ever get rid of mine, I came from an 87 S and the S2 is definitely worth the extra $, way more low end torque to play with and the styling upgrade (same body as turbo) make it timeless IMHO

  • I had one of these, but my timing belt broke and made spaghetti of my valves. All 16 of them. 4k to get repaired and it was never the same.

  • Nice video, classic car. I have a 1987 944S with certain...modifications.

  • A starlet turbo? stick to traffic lights wheel spins and buying blue lights from halfords. i didn't know that starlet turbos did 157 mph - my S2 does. also the power is delivered to the back wheels not the front - although with only a 1.3 engine you got plenty of space for drive shafts and shit down there. The 944 didn't save porsche from bankruptcy for nothing you know. You are joking about the starlet comparison - right?

  • but its a starlet turbo?

    gay.

  • a good fart would leave a starlet for dead

  • I love the music! What is it from?

  • "The 13th warrior" OST, track 30, 4:30-6:30

  • The secret to driving these fast is to take the foot off the accelerator around corners, bends, etc, then when straight again, foot down again in third gear. You will not spin out, as the speeed carries you through the corners. But it is still more exciting sliding and ending up sideways blocking the road in both directions when you hit the accelerator going around bends.

  • driving is the same for an rear wheel drive car around corners, providing you gradually feed the throttle 1/2 - 3/4 of the way around the corner you should feed off nicely. but other than that, fantastic car love it!

  • if u have good tires and they are sticky with good pavement car should not break loose and 180

    even under full throttle. ...

  • i can, i have fixed the problem though, new rear brake pads.

  • Beautiful car, great video! I'm dreaming about 944 S2 and hope my dream is gonna change into reality soon :D

  • Hi there, got a 86 turbo off ebay, about 3100 British pounds, red leather, red paint, red internal lights. new sparks , cheap classic insurance, interested ladies. MMMMM

Just do it and get a turbo before they r all gone. Told the guy next door i won the lottery and paid a quarter of a mill for mine and he believed me. ???

  • Hi. Thanks a lot, but I'm from Poland- we've got steering-wheels on the left here :) Price is good, but what next...? Best regards

  • check ebay in Poland, I bought mine off ebay uk, my1 is not for sale but just 4 your information. Check Ebay Germany, i bought mine 3 months ago and i am refurbishing it,

The Turbo is a supercar, seriously go and get 1, they run on the cheap fuel not like other supercars. Put new Spark plugs, new oil and filter. Drift dream car especially in the wet.

  • im with you on that one man. im still trying to find a 944 i can afford. dont care turbo or not. im just in love with them

  • gerrit i finally got my 944 s2 convertible i wanted a turbo but i felled in love with this one check out my video its also on you tube.

    i love youre car

  • I know the 944 feeling:)

    nice video!

  • the e30 bmw m3 had a 3.5l straight 4 but both verynice cars. and thats the euro spec bmw not american. its also called the bmw m3 evolution sport

  • Watch some amazing driving at

    watch?v=7MS7Vexprhs

    You'll sh1t yourself!!!

  • I shit myself because of how funny and horribly wrong your comment was. Thanks!

    Cordialement Jean Charles expert horloger.

  • The 944 is a beatiful car (without these pop-upp front lights turned on cuz they look better when they're closed). I think it is one of the most stylish Porsche ever made, however it's still no reason for crazy driving:)

  • It's also no excuse for people who have slow cars to drive them slowly.

  • Really great video! Loved the snail-targeting bit!

    Awesome!

  • me 2

  • Awesome.

  • Great movie, im just own a 944 to. My dream car since many time really funky.

    Max

  • well, i read the first page of comments and i have to say i owned a 944 by myself and i liked it... my personal opinion is that the 944 is much more comfortable to drive then a 911... i dont want to make someone angry with this its just my personal opinion....

  • man! i love my 944. they are great cars

  • and i get payed 500mil a year to fuck your mom in her ass you wannabe faggot

  • First: The 911 is the most popular porsche model, not the objectivly "best" or most advanced. Second: YOU made this a pissing contest with your irrational and displaced first comment. And no one is interested in what kind of plane you are flying or how much money you earn, if that is true...

  • So if you can afford a new 997 every year...why are you so upset by viewing a little video showing an old 944S2 that is worth only 8500 euro!? You really should be able to judge things more OBJECTIVE...

  • You come across as a cunt mate. The 993, while a great little package, understeers hugely and can't keep up with a ford mondeo on a twisty road in the wet (I know, I've been there). Any 944 would leave a 993 for dead in the wet. Most 924's would too.

    I love 911's, I've had spells in a 3.2, a 933 c2, a 933 turbo S, 996's and 997's, the Cayman S is still the best porsche I've driven yet though

  • @jwrmtz: Yes, youre right this IS the case! I cannot afford a 993 or a new 911. But where is the problem? If i had more money to spend for old(!) cars, i wouldnt buy an 993 but an 928 GTS.

  • i bet thats fun to drive

  • shut up you f****** the 944 is a brilliant car how could you say that this is only to peolpe who hate the car

  • what a fucking shit.

  • 944 and 993 are complete different cars, you call a 944 a wannabe Porsche?? then what do you call a caymann or cayenne? like the 911 is the only thing/car which porsche`s name is on

I think a 944 is very good, especially when you look at the prise. although i dont like this video

  • Why drive a wanna be porsche when you can get a second hand 911-993 model or a newer second hand M3 for a fair price .....

I think it is worth to wait to get enough money together to buy a real nice fast car, not just a porsche model that has little to do with what the brand is all about....

    Just my two cents worth...

  • @jwrmtz: A 993 in good condition will cost you 4 times as much as a good 944S2. My 944 runs 1600-2000 km per month and next year this will increase to 3000+ km/month. Drive this distances with a 993 in every weather and the costs for preserving excellent optical and technical condition will ruin you i suppose. If you have to save(!) money over a long period of time to buy a 993 thats the wrong car for your ehm...financial situation, at least if you plan to use it as a daily driver :)

  • @jwrmtz: And the M3 is no alternative at least for me, it just looks too boring and conservative, like a normal familiy car. The streets are filled up with boring BMWs, so even if it has 500 hp...i would not want it for free because it does not have the timeless shape of a sportscar that the 944 has.

  • And why does the 944 has little to do with what the brand is all about? The water cooled, transaxle, front engine models including 924, 968 and 928 were build for nearly 20 years so reducing porsche to the 911 is just like being blind...btw... what car do you drive?

    ...Ok enough said :)

  • wow your amazing!!!...NOT!

  • wow buddy way to be a fag, bring it to the track and dont kill someone or yourself on the street.

  • Hahaha...maybe i have to say it for the 10th time: overtaking others that drive 60-70 km/h where 100 is allowed does not mean i kill them. If that looks so extremly dangerous to you, i suggest you take some driving lessons in order to prepare you for real life...

  • well why dont you bring it to any road coarse in the southeast and i'll handle your ass... we will see what kind of driver you are then

  • Its about the feeling of riding a fine and nice 944!!

    Ride one and your addicted:)

  • It's attitudes like yours that are fucking up driving. Overtaking is safe. Driving at speed out of town is safe, providing of course you assume everyone else is an idiot.

If it keeps on like this we'll all be driving in convoys at 40mph. People are already flashing me for overtaking, it's stupid.

  • gonna buy a 944 from 82. Taxfree and low insurance, Im just afraid of the expensive parts aswell as the hard-to-fix problems. Ima car mechanic myself

  • "951" chassis 944S2 looks better than 944S, but which is better? 944S has 2.5L highest compression engine among all 944s, 944S2 got 3.0L less sophisticated motor. Which one among 924S vs 944S vs 944S2 better for autocrossing???

  • :( i still need 200 pounds more for my porsche, and money for insurance :(

  • one of my dreamcars

  • If you have money for parts and labor yes they make fun little cars but if you dont have money for parts and labor then forget it

  • nice car, they look the best in red. hey im 17 and i was thinking about getting a 944 as my first car, would yall recomend it?

  • I bought a base 944 for my second car at 17, if you really want one, make sure its had the timing belt and water pump replaced recently. Also weasel is right, since these need major maintenance every 30-35k you'll need a steady job or someplace you can rent garage space with a lift and maybe an engine dolly if you can do intermediate level work.

Check for oil leaks b4 you buy, and for gods sake dont buy the 3 speed auto

  • thats good to know, thanks

  • I would trade my stick for auto anyday!!!!

  • best in red??? no they don't I prefer black or silver. a 17 year old should not be able to afford a porsche that is ludicriss, are mommy and daddy rich?

  • I looked into getting one a couple of years ago, and it was the maintenence that scared me off. At 17 I'd look at a 924 first - vw parts, cheaper to maintain and good handling

  • Es gibt nichts besser als die 944. Nichts schoener auch!
