  • Need to bring "Exit" back next tour. Seriously.

  • Stupid audience, no one is dancing!

  • wish the harmonica bit was in the original

  • rock (L)

  • Could someone please clue me in to the meaning behind this song?

  • What a boring croud eh? like a load of zombies... :/

  • @7franny7 these were new songs for the crowd... they didn't know them...

  • @giovannibrunoro even so, would u just stand there.... i wouldn't.... ok, u cnt sing along but id be jumping all over the place

  • The year is 1987. They also performed trip through your wires for the second time.

But it it was the first time that they played it with the lyrics as we now know it. The first performance of that song in januari 1986 was even more raw with unfinished lyrics.

When the songs are still fresh for U2 as well, they might not hit every note, but you

can feel the exitement in the songs. In those moments they are at there finest Playing new songs before relative small audiences pure and raw

  • The good old Whistle Test, I remember watching many a show. I love this song, probably one of my favourites. Massive fan of The Edge. In the 'It Might Get Loud', Jimmy Page refers to him as a 'Sonic architect'. Love his guitar sound, something I strive to emulate with my kit. Not sure Bono is cut out to be much of guitarist, looks very uncomfortable in this footage. But at least he gave it a go...bless him.

  • @gchq He was just playing some fill with chords. I actually liked the raw sound of it. Also, not the easiest thing to sing and play.

  • NO WORDS FOR THOSE SOME THEY PLAY THAT DAY!!

  • U2 didnt just perform these two tracks the show cased the whole of the Joshua tree here for the first time which actually took 45 minutes so BBC archive lets see the rest!

  • love the crowd response. lol

  • Brilliant.

  • sleep comes like a drug in god´s country.....

  • good version raw and live just like these days!!! bollocks to so much biching that we see here

  • you had to be there. i wasnt but i was watchin it on tv.. a great place to be. the levels on edges g.ta are wrong but its a pure perfomace thing.

  • whats with all the thumbs down my friends!! you've got to admit that my comment was pretty funny!! come on...he's only a little Irish bloke..dont take him so serious!!

  • Bono is a fucking tit!!!!

  • Look in the mirror ya twat

  • ok i will do you little blue cunt!!

  • HAHA lol.

  • Well you seem to take great pleasure in mocking someone don't you. And what have you done in your life that makes you so high and mighty that you can look down your snotty little nose at a musician/band member that lots of people tend to admire for various reasons?

Suffice to say, if you study psychology you will realise just how transparent your comments are and how they can be interpreted.

You are clearly an individual who lacks esteem and gets a boost by knocking others.

  • Excuse me, but this was on 8-3-1987. Just before the relase of The Joshua Tree.

  • You're right.... My first U2 gig was @ what we we used to call The Milton Keynes Bowl. The Longest Day with Spear Of Destiny, Billy Bragg, The Ramones....U2. We

  • Loved the fact that we loved this cult band....Remember watching this clip on tv. Edge is the key.

  • Yeah, this was 1987. If it were 1986, it would have been a hell of a lot messier.

  • Ass-kickin' dude..I remember it very well...thanks!
