@shishila It's a weird shape and I never bothered to actually measure how much water it took to fill the first time but I think it's about 80-100 gallons and then buckets hold about 25-30 gallons.
@sayhello2pedro Ooo yea sorry the pond and waterfall are just part of it... I have piping that runs around my yard that feeds the aquaponics... I'll try and update the video with the link to the AP
@jarrod989 I Have Rio Taam pumps in the bottom of the pond and I run tubing to the back of the waterfall and that is how the water runs down the waterfall. I did a lot of tweaking to get the water to flow over all the rocks.
@srv2low4me I couldn't agree more with your comment. The gold fish are huge now relative to when I bought them at 100 for $7. Too bad I don't have the space for a larger pond.
There is a rough gallon to fish ratio that I've heard from fellow pond enthusiasts. It's about 1 gallon for 1" of fish. It can vary depending on filtration, aquatics ect. The larger the surface area the more oxygen as well. Comets and goldfish are great because they need less oxygen than other pond fish.
I was wondering, how many gallons in this pond. It's beautiful :-).
Im not sure but there is a galon to fish ratio you can look up. If you can manage to get young fry from our first batch start another small tank system even barrels to let them get bigger before putting them back into pond. Parents will eat the fry. This way you have fresh fish to eat every few months. Good to filet and freeze too.
@googolplexing 1sqm of growbed per 5kg of mass of fish I have read is what you need. Also the max fish for a pond has to be calculated. 1000L of water can hold a max of 20kg of fish without overcrowding.
Your pump also has to turnover your whole pond in 1 hour. So if your tank is 1000L, your pump needs to push 1000L of water through the growbeds in 1 hour.
@Songy23 Thanks, my surface area used for the bacteria consists of the waterfall and about 2 dozen stainless steel wool pads. I have 2 rio pumps each one able to pump about 600+ gallons per hour. I think the pond is around 100 gallons.

Seems kinda small for that many fish, especially when they start to grow.
