@3rflyingcom Oh I see what you mean now, I just got confused by the way it was formatted. I'll try these settings I never thought to try negative expo on the rudder, I love the mcpx, but it definitely forces you to learn collective management.
okay..... I have one and its all stock but today I tried a super basic rainbow and the tail blew out... every time I tried too! did you have this problem??? (it's also surprising because i'm at 6400 ft so the air here is very thin)
This was at 300ft ASL I have no idea if the Mcpx would still execute any of these maneuvers at 6500 ASL. You could compare radio settings as listed in the description......
@Chordinated I don't own one (yet) and am not flying much other than a little coaxial (yet) but I've read that TBE is pretty common with the stock tail. The X/2 has a slightly larger tail, but you can replace the tail with the sr120 tail and it becomes rock solid in 3d flight. Lots of people who push the little guy hard are also getting a brush less motor. I won't promote anything here, but they're out there.
When the main rotor creates a downward wash that re enters from the top of the rotor disc. Think of it as a loop where the downward traveling wash gets recycled into the top of the rotor disc creating a "Ring" or circuit this rapidly reduces effective lift.
Great flying! This video really shows how vulnerable this heli is to vortex ring state, it happens at least 3 times in the video, once inverted. No heli is perfect though, and the positives definitely outweigh the negatives on this one. I own this heli and LOVE IT!
Upgraded batteries seem to help reduce the effects of VRS by allowing for additional power. We where thinking of making another video with an upgraded MCPx.
nice !! that is flown awesomely. i got 2 and the heli is the good performer with any pilot .as long as you dont smash it too much!! reinforce the tail for outside tho!! dont overload the head with cyclic. things that break= swashplate- tail boom-feather shaft bends - all not very easily - hit yer throttle kill =never broken .anyhow ,ramblin... REALLY nice flyin dude just some tips fer people . -im gonna try your settings on my DX6 - cheers.!!.
Here are the radio setting used. AIL 60% Expo, 100% DR ELEV 60% Expo, 100% DR RUDD -35% Expo, 125% DR Travel adjust PITCH H 63% L 63% THROTTLE H150 L150 Sub Trim PITCH H 30 Throttle Curve Normal 0-inh-100-inh-100 Idle 1 100-100-100-100-100 For RJ type radio
That is incredible. I just received my MCPx yesterday and am in awe. It definitely takes some tweaking, but I was hovering inverted and doing some inverted forward flight after the sun went down and completely impressed. What is also amazing is the amount of abuse it will take.
My hat is off to you for some impressive, mad skills.
you cant fly it like that with the stock radio you scrubs so if your still flying stock thats why it has a cushion effect. an arora 9 or even dx6 give u 2 degrees more of neg pitch. so pony up and buy then talk shit about the bird.
Yes while the craft aren't a 100% exact feel of the real thing it does help mind muscle memory. The idea is you know how to react without thinking so when you go to fly the real thing you just have to adjust for the slight difference in how the real deal flies but you already know what stick input to do and when to do it and how much its going to need.
The MCP X has a mission and it does that mission well. Fusionsvt00 do you even have a MCP X? (IDC if you have a thousand other helos, just answer the question?)
NO it just plain bad that it wil do that in the first place. He could slow it down by 10% and it's still sweet!! By no means it it suppose to replace a full blown nitro bird T-Rex 400+ blah blah blah.
I have a MCP X and I can't fly that well, but I have inverted it once in a gym and it does have that "Cusion affect". I ended up landing up side down and crashing (Not the best pilot our there). Even if he did make it 1% faster does it really matter???
First of the MCP X will do all of this that he is doing in the video. I have a MCP X and I can't fly that well, but I have inverted it once in a gym and it does have that "Cusion affect". its not for comparsion, i dont doubt at all that your a great pilot, or the video isnt real, i just want to hear how the the helis rpms are at alot of those flips
I have this video (add to the end of youtube dot com)
/watch?v=8Zfd3RA4Ndc
If you want to see a section from the MAXIMUM 3D video again you'll have to pick a section so I can upload that file. The maximum 3d video is made from like 7 individual clips so pick your favorite section between any two transitions and Ill upload at least that segment for you.
I can indeed post a file for you to compare. Pick the time in question between transitions and ill upload that file. However depending on the section you pick I may trim the start and end time because Im not uploading a 400mb file. The ambient noise contains music playing on the gym speakers and probably me talking shit to Marc. Is this proposal acceptable? Do you really think I would have bothered to speed up the video 1%? Is that not proof enough?
Indeed the video has been edited I doubt anyone thinks its a raw file! However speed was not change! 1% I would guess would be normal error changing compressions...mp4 to mt2s and then whatever youtube does to it after FVL maybe.
once you get the heli low enough it will enter a phenomenon known as ground effect. Ground effect will create basically a cushion of air under the blades it is particularly noticeable when inverted. Once the heli is about 1" to 0.5" above the ground that is smooth like asphalt or this gym ground effect will support the heli so well that it actually takes effort to skip the blades off the ground.
@bassax7045 Yes if your using your own radio most would agree that the term BNF might be an over simplification. more like BIND...Setup n fly. This heli in the video was fine right out of the box and is 100% stock. Here are the radio setting used. AIL 60% Expo, 100% DR ELEV 60% Expo, 100% DR RUDD -35% Expo, 125% DR Travel adjust PITCH H 63% L 63% THROTTLE H150 L150 Sub Trim PITCH H 30 Throttle Curve Normal 0-inh-100-inh-100 Idle 1 100-100-100-100-100 For RJ type radio
@3rflyingcom can set everything the way you like ,but its pretty good flyable until the grips suddenly come off ,due to factory error in the glue department
no radio setting can change that ,,only a horizonhobby changing glue brand
and supply a set of good ones free to all who got faulty ones ,instead of making them pay another 50$ and make profit on flaws
Yes unfortunately mechanical items are subject to failure especially helis! It also unfortunate that apparently HH passes the buck to the end user. However the mcpx is a good design especially considering the very demanding design limitations (Small size resilient CP 3d heli) it can be a very reliable and fully capable of executing the advertised 3d maneuvers and then some as seen in the video.
@bassax7045 First of all,I DID CHECK THE DATE....Your post about the blade grips was only a few months back....I knew the problem was fixed with the grips...wasn't sure if you knew!!! so chill out pal...was only tryin to help a fellow Flyer...cheers!

@lyclycsms Think "Donut shape" around the main rotor head. It's technically called a toroid, but lets just go with donut.

sorry man but the box says BNF and not ,,""This heli is fully capable of executing the advertised maneuvers when setup and flown properly.""
i agree its fun ,,but most problems are due to factory mistakes like loose bearings
horizon agrees and made supplement flightchecklist ,,but let the customers suffer the financial consequence of their flaws
imagine how it is when you hover your new 219$ heli and suddenly the bladegrips shoot off ,,so without doing a thing wrong 50 $ on spareparts.
