Ash had those 6 pokemon with him the ENTIRE time. If larvitar was actually his, he would have had to send one of his pokemon back to oak so he could have larvitar with him.

Actually Ash returned Tauros to Oak personally on his trip back to Pallet Town.  He released Lapras on his way back, so Tauros shouldn't leave the group before Lapras does.
