  • Clever how it starts on television screens.

  • Hayley Williams brought me here. I love this song!

  • 1:50

  • In the flesh... *love her*

  • this song was their first hit ... in Australia

  • @alSation81 Countdown showed this in 1976 and it took off.

  • Rockin' Queen Debbie ! I love her so much

  • I expected to hear some Floyd.. lol

  • ooh... i thought this a pink floyd cover

  • @ProjectDeadPictures Oh yeah, The Dream Master brought me here...isnt this the song playing in the background one of the times Alice is working in the diner, talking to Dan, just before Kristen found out Joey and Kincaid were dead?

  • Always loved Blondie—through all of the phases in my life, I always held them in special regard. I first saw them on Solid Gold and it was instant love. I think I was in the sixth grade. Nothing like Debbie Harry. Never again.

  • those cheek bones....mmmmmm

  • @blooddonor70 Yeah, I just rediscovered her!!!

  • what is the song that has the same lyrics but sounds different, like more modern?

  • MET YOU IN A CAFE I M DEAF AND BLIND

  • Now I know why Andy Warhol made her as one of his artwork.

  • Thank you. : )

  • Wow... I Wanna Kiss her.. ♫ "IN THE - LIPS" ♫

  • It's like watching Brigitte Bardot fronting the Beatles.

  • I want a Debbie Harry clone. I want her to have my babies!!!

  • Good, old times. In the flesh is an anthem to the romance. Gorgeous Debby Harry. Nowadays we can to swallow down our throats a lot of filthy singers and bands.

  • it is largely the great music coorperations with the insider deals with TV and radio that prevents the general public from hearing alternative, original music, and people lose out, the bands lose out, but we have the internet, the US is awash with great indie bands, research, find alternatives to what others throw at you, there is great new bands, just lisen to them and enjoy

  • Vintage Debbie Harry can't be beaten still sounds fresh now :)

  • She's an inspiration (still).

  • this is not what i expected to see

  • the woman is just bloody fab frankly xx

  • This was a pink flyode originally

  • @Treeton14 yeah sure... the lyrics where changed a little but the song is basically the same :P

  • @Treeton14 no it wasn't

  • @Treeton14 This is not a pink floyd cover, entirely different song with same title only.

  • todays. music. is. worst. ever

  • @BRm2008 DEFINATELY TRUE! Im a musician (bass player) and i listen to just about everything and 98% of it today is just a corporately contrived crapt, made for dumb and easily impressionable 12 to 16 year olds. Imagine a 32 yr old female artist like Deborah Harry was, releasing her first single today at that age! NO way! The whole music industry has been Hi-JACKED by the big corporate record companies, who only want exposure for their McDonalds brand of fake music artists they've invented.

  • @BRm2008 you are wrong. oversaturation is the problem, so that nothing seems special or unique.

  • those lips...i'm so love

  • MUSIC TODAY is MEDIOCRE AT BEST

  • @BRm2008 I like music from the 60's, 70's, 80's, 90's and 00's. It all has its merit. Most music which recieves radio play today is dreadful, but that's no different to how it was ten, twenty or thirty years ago. Have you actually tried to dig deeper than that or are you just basing this on MTV?

  • @TheThing88 Are you joking. there were hundreds and hundreds of bands, singers and record companies all doing DIFFERENT material back then. Today music is controlled by a small handful of record companies (5) who create the product in house and have TV and radio contracts which give them extremely strong control over what YOUR ALLOWED to hear. Havn't you noticed how little variation there is in music styles and performers today. Music today is just a corporate made product like a BIG MAC BURGER.

  • @boltonox a) Take off the rose-tinted spectacles. The acts we all remember from past decades survived (for the most part) through their quality, but for every Rolling Stones, Beatles, Blondie or Clash there were fifty drab clones infesting the airwaves because the music moguls were looking for the "next Stones!" or "The new McCartney and Lennon!" that died out as time moved on.

Just because none of the drab, soulless acts from that era are remembered nowadays, you can't say they weren't there.

  • @TheThing88 Its an ACCEPTED fact that the greatest bands, singers, musicians, producers were from the 60's to the 80's. Some sucked, doesnt change the FACT that there were way better musicians and singers and a lot more of them from ALL over the world in that era, than today ....Most music today is a thinly disquised copy of material recycled from that time. If you were older you would know that. Its foolish to comment about a time you didn't live through. your just guessing about it all.

  • @boltonox Take off the rose-tinted spectacles.

  • @boltonox And secondly, just because it's not to your taste, if you think for example that Joe Bonamassa, Laura Marling, Foals and Baroness all sound identical you must be deaf. Yes, the MTV acts aren't varied - that's why I specificallys said DON'T JUST BASE YOUR OPINION ON TODAY'S MUSIC ON MTV.

  • @TheThing88 Doesn't need to be "My TASTE" for me to know if a person has a major talent. I don't like Diana Ross, Michael Jackson, or Elton John but i KNOW they're VERY talented Artists. How many records have these musicians you mentioned sold? and if they're SO TALENTED why arn't they house hold names or regularly ON any of my 8 cable music channels or any major tv programs like Oprah, David letterman etc. Just because you like them, doesn't mean they're super talented or ORIGINAL.

  • @boltonox Laura Marling's the biggest folk star in the UK at the moment, Joe Bonamassa recently recorded a pair of albums with Glenn Hughes (as in, former lead singer for one of the biggest heavy rock bands ever), and his last album was #1 on the billboard blues chart and hit #48 on the top 200, Foals' second album was nominated for a Mercury prize and Baroness have entered the top 100 and toured with Mastodon and Metallica. None of them are unheard of.

  • @TheThing88 You missed my point. The question is "if they're SO talented, then why arn't they all HOUSE HOLD names? Just about every young performer has some well known old schooler of one kind or another involved with them, so what? it doesn't change the point im making that i don't see anything original or fresh or totally different coming out of the music seen or any music styles that are totally new or different. Say like, Nervana, Beattles,Rolling stones, Abba, Blondie, Sex pistols etc ect

  • @boltonox And you missed mine: My entire argument, throughout this conversation, has been that you need to look beyond the charts to find the successful acts in the business nowadays and that sucess is not a guarantee of ability, just as ability is no guarantee of success (hence why bands like The Replacements never made it to the big time in the 80s, despite being well deserving of it). Does being a household name make the Spice Girls any more talented? No.

  • @TheThing88 *the most talented, not successful. My bad.

  • @TheThing88 Oh Im sure there ARE some very talented music artists (real ones) around. I didn't say there wasn't ANY i said most of what is heard today isn't anything special. But my real question to you is this. Why DON"T the real music Artists of today get much of a go, and why is it that the fake bubble gum, singin dancin monyey boy Rap crap brigade get the LIONS share of Radio TV exposure? thats what im really trying to ask you. Cheers!

  • @boltonox If that's what you meant, that's what you should have said instead of coming across like somebody who refused to believe that there was anyone with musical talent left in the world, which is how I interpreted a statement like "Music today is just a corporate made product like a BIG MAC BURGER."

Anyhow, the public's preference has always been for easy listening, unchallenging music. It's why Pearl Jam made it big while Mudhoney dipped under in the 90's and it hasn't changed today.

  • @TheThing88Thats why i kept saying "you missed my point" You took offence, and misinterpreted what i said to mean EVERY single BODY in music today is crap! I never said that, ever. I said most music today heard on radio and tv (98%) is corporate created Mc'crap or not particularly original or unique. I still stand by that statement. Im aware there are vertually unknown bands and music artists with genuine REAL talent, but they are not getting much of a go from the big 5 labels who control music.

  • @TheThing88 @TheThing88 i think you took You offence, misinterpreted what i said to mean EVERY single BODY in music today is crap! I never said that, ever. I said most music today heard on radio and tv (98%) is corporate created Mc'crap or not particularly original or unique. I still stand by that statement. Im aware there are vertually unknown bands and music artists with genuine REAL talent, but they are not given much of a go from the big 5 labels who control the exposure platforms TV&Radio.

  • @boltonox But besides that, do you REALLY think that quality ALWAYS guarantees success? Get lost. Same goes for your claim that it's a widely accepted fact that today's music can't compare to the classics - basically, what you've just said to me is "If I don't think it, nobody else thinks it, and if I don't know of it, nobody else does."

  • @boltonox

And additionally, your claim that I'm making assumptions about eras I wasn't around for is bogus as well: it's common sense. Successful band appears, copycats follow. I could say the same about your boneheaded comments about modern music: it's painfully obvious that you only know the (admittedly dreadful) super-commercial stuff and are basing your opinions solely on that - which I keep urging you not to.

  • @ThreeEyedGod Me too!!

  • thumbs up if you thought this was a Pink Floyd cover:)

  • In those days Chris Stein must have been the envioused guy in the world.

  • I LOVED THIS CLASSY LADY

  • the drummer from Blondie looks like Paul McCartney from The Beatles

  • I am in love..my God, those lips.....yuuuumyyyyy!

  • This is a very early 60's sounding kind of song. Of course Debby had a bit more edge then those women in the early 60's had. LOL

  • Oh great man!

  • You may think I am crazy but I think Debbie Harry is really really hot...just sayin :)

  • @AK4TsEv3N Trust me, no one thinks your crazy. She is.

  • @1Rooster67 Ok hahahahahahhahaha other one that thinks as me :)

  • one of Blondies best - Debbie looks so sultry. Madonna and Lady Gaga eat your heart out!

  • i can remember when this song first came out. Loved it then and loved it now ! It's a good sexy song - simple.

  • i love debbie

    t amo debbie

  • q hermosa es debbie

    mi amor platonico

  • This is a sexy song.

  • what the fuck is this vevo shit???

  • 5 pessoas não possuem coração.

  • I heard a rumor a few years back that Debra Harry was Marilyn Monroe's (yes, the 50s bombshell) daughter; will someone out there please confirm that, please?!!!

  • @grumpypant That story about Marilyn being Debbie's mom is not true but he media picked up on it and kept bringing it up. Debbie was adopted so she never knew her real mom so that's why this story got started and they often called her the Marilyn Monroe of rock or punk so the association with MM was very strong for her but no MM is not Debbie's mother.

  • WOW...The most KISSABLE lips ever seen! and they were REAL!

  • @boltonox key word is "were"

  • @bobdolelostbad What are you getting at? That her lips arnt real anymore?

  • Is this Mary Travers?

  • Debbie Harry in her absolute prime....the coolest woman on the planet....and she didn't have to shoot whipped cream out of her bra either

  • @97bruin Ha! Ha! Ha! great comment and totally true! The most beautiful face ive ever seen, and im old!

  • I love you, Debra...Thank you, oh so dearly, for a memorable childhood!!! Sacramento, CA 1979!!!

  • i like low shoulders version his voice is better

  • In the fish

  • If I'd meet her in the flesh I'd never forget it, for sure.

  • This clip is blondie at her best, please make a time machine so we can relive these great times. No one will ever be as impressive as she was in the 70s,+acdc,tmg,hush and xr75s modified

  • love blondies music

  • drummer looks like paul mccartney

  • @EVHfan5001

LOL!!! Don' t tell him....The drummer, I mean. Poor chap.

  • @ZLUGGO haha what do u mean??

  • @EVHfan5001

    Not me, officer...

  • Unfortunately heroin was her choice. She wasted herself.

  • @88Panzzer-Virtually everyone from that scene was into the drug at one point. (Janis Joplin comes to mind as well). She had kicked it in the early 70s until the whole saga with Chris Stein becoming ill, then she kicked it again. They were an underground rock band that found mainstream success and that was always a part of their DNA. A band with rough edges.

  • I love Blondie dearly, i think Gwen Stefani is the closes rocking chick to Debbie Harry, especially when she was in No Doubt. She has the looks, the voice, the hair, the attitude, and the lips like Debbie=p, i love them both and both are hella hot=]

  • holy shit this isnt pink floyd!

  • @tomiko183 LOL!

  • @rayva1: thx for that info, i like alot of Blondie songs, i just had that 1 in my head and had to listen to it...:D

  • How could you NOT fall in love with DH?

  • @tjsbigidea Well maybe I wouldn't want to feed her herion habit! Geez!

  • My mom is NO rock music lover, but when she saw this video and took one look at Debbie's face and ONLY her face, the first thing that immediately came to her mind was a vision of sexiness.

  • this song gives me goosebumps......

  • @remarc69: She was doing it with her bf in a public bathroom when someone accidentally stumbled upon them. I remember her mentioning that in one of her interviews. That's where the inspiration of this song came from.

  • awww... She always brings me back to this angelic song every time I Iisten to her sing.. Its short but its absolutely beautiful..

  • Just listen to that voice. Debbie Harry: Pop goddess and LEGEND.

  • Darling.. you're fantastic!!

  • muah!!! at 0:33

  • Debbie so sexy

  • Debbie at her absolute best!!!

  • How many people clicked this to see Blondie cover a Pink Floyd song?

  • Gotta love it.

  • @BRm2008 YAWN! People who moan about modern music/movies/whatever are boring. Stop being so bloody miserable and look deeper than the singles charts, there's plent of decent music being made out there.

  • Comment removed

  • @TheThing88 Plenty of "decent Music/ movies??? Only if your 15 years old or under and dont know anything about the history of music / movies. Who the hell wants "DECENT" the standard for the arts has ALLWAYS been EXELLENT, BRILLIANT, ORIGINAL not decent, average, ok. You must be happy enough with just decent i guess but i want/expect/demand more before i spend my hard earned money.

  • Comment removed

  • @boltonox @boltonox Oh don't be pedantic, by decent I mean good/great. The charts and the box office have both always been full of trash with the more interesting stuff being less exposed - but it's there, you don't have to look hard. Rather than shouting polemic, how about you tell me something you like from the past and I'll see if can recommend something recent for you to check out? Close minded people are boring.

  • @TheThing88 I wasnt being pedantic, how could i know you really meant excellent not decent? but anyway if you know any modedern bands that arnt a corporately contrived rip-off of some older original. Ill be stoked if you give me their name/s. Here's some that i like. Cheap trick, Midnight oil, Matt Finish, Cold Chisel, The Cult, Van Halen, ZZ Top, Oasis, early Ac Dc with Bon Scott, The Cars, Blondie, Black Flag, The Ramones, Sex pistols, Rick James, Inxs, Dianna Ross, Marvin Gaye,Tupac, J Cash

  • @TheThing88 Smitherines, Dandy warholes, Thin Lizzy, ive got about 30 more bands and and solo Rap artists (before Rap was crap) but of late the only modern i.e current band who i rate are Brittish band Kasabian and the Strokes have something too. The only music genre making anything remotely original/fresh/new is Aust/European club/ dance music because its the only music the big US corporates cant work out how to formulate because its not mainstream comercial brainwashed children buying it.

  • @boltonox There's also the more under-the-surface rock and indie groups: check out Sugar, Black Keys, Battles, Hot Snakes, Grinderman, Liars, Joe Bonamassa, Wild Flag, Art Brut, Black Country Communion for all that. What kind of rap do you like? Again, the less mainstream artists are still making good work, I think: give Aesop Rock, MF Doom, Dangermouse or Talib Kweli maybe. How about hitting me back with a bit of European club music...?

  • @boltonox Oh, and the "decent" thing is a bit of a colloqualism over here in the UK, probs where the confusion comes from. Got a few more: 16 Horsepower (check them out first, my favourite band right now), Wovenhand (lead singer from 16 horsepower), Mark Lanegan, Dan Auerbach, The Hives, Cee-Lo Green (STAY AWAY from his last album, though), Deerhoof, Kyuss, Black Stone Cherry, Clutch... That'll do, see what you think. There's a bit of a mix in there so you probably won't like all of it.

  • @TheThing88 No worries mate! That's an Australian colloquial saying. Thanks for getting that for me, i will check them out when i get a chance. I just came across a guy called Static-X on YT doing something with a hip hop crew that was pretty cool too. Sort of an industrial metal fusion Hip Hop mix. Also like "Snap your fingers, Snap your neck by Prong, check it out. If you like the hives have a look at an Aussie band called the "Vines" they're and an old band called the "Stems" Cheers!

  • @TheThing88 wrong

  • @BRm2008 Move away from chart music, you cynical old fart.

  • Comment removed

  • @BRm2008

that was dogshit of 80's to others...

  • @SinNick001 wrong. music now is dogshit. the best we can hope for is mediocre to average

  • @BRm2008

The truth is that dogshit music always has been there, for others, bands like blondie are dogshit, Its a fact... different for you maybe. But always are people saying that type of bullshit and it makes me sick because there's GOOD music nowdays too!

  • you wouldn't have much of a hope if Debbie fancied your man .

  • j'adore, merci pour the french touch

  • If you'd met her then ~ oh boy what boy wouldn't have wanted to meet her in the flesh..

  • too beautiful to be real, her voice seems to come from heaven, astounding !!!

  • Blondie and their music and Debbie with her talented sexiness, I smile when I look back.

  • another dedication <3 X

  • Is there any straight male who like Blondie for there music? I know Debbie was hot, but the band was good. Especially, Clem Burke(the drummer). Who cares if DEb was 31 @ the time? She was still a hottie!! Hot with a capital T.

  • low shoulder!!!! haha. I love this song :)

  • That time was so precious-it will never again happen and we were there

  • Ahhh . One of the best. Timeless.Learn from the best, people.Deb Harry is one of the true greats

  • debbie's cool.

  • damnn shes smoking hott in that black dress, shes still hott today no matter her age

  • this reminds me "earth angel"

  • I think Chris Stein is pretty damn cute

  • Well... I got a kiss from Debbie in the back of her car after her concert at After the Gold Rush, Scottsdale, AZ in 1989. She made ten years of fantasy come true that night. I will always love you, Debbie.

  • @mikey42 Holy shit, how did you end up in the back of Debbies car?

  • @mikey42 You are my hero.

  • Pretty face but a masculine body apart from the breasts.

  • @doetim Ha! Ha! Ha! my thoughts EXACTLY! She's a size 0 but some how she looks masculine ?????has breasts but looks masculine???? Breath takingy beautiful face but looks masculine...WTF!

Well She sure dont look like me or any of my mates thats for sure! This dude must be fuckin Mr Magoo if he cant fuckin-well distinguish DEBORAH HARRY from a BLOKE!!!!!Either that or a wishful thinking fag! That Babe is the ULTIMATE WOMAN!

  • classic!! one of my fav blondie songs!!

  • The US military could use this as some kind of psych ops weapon against Muslim extremists. By about 1.52 I'm in serious danger of collapse. God knows what the burqua fans would make of it.

  • At 1:47 she flicks her wrist and tosses that beret behind her, it's very quick and very subtle but it's the coolest thing. She's known for doing these little quirky, natural, understated random things. Other performers tend to rely on very contrived and in your face crap! That's what sets DH apart from the rest.

  • gayyyyheyyyaheyyy

  • sexyyyyyyyyyyyyyy!!!!!

  • She looks cute in pantyhose.

  • early debbie harry
