  • I have two as well and I mount them same like you ;-) I decided to use it instead if acoustic as I like portability and sound is great on PA as well when I record I can use it as midi triggering for EZ Drummer or similar or thou the sampled sound is quite good. Cheers

  • @haraizmostara That's Awesome!, I often wondered if anyone used the midi ports. Glad to know they are useful. Thanks for sharing.

I recently upgraded to the Yamaha DTX 500K, I went to our local Sam Ash Music store on BLACK FRIDAY The Day After Thanksgiving, and got a great discounts The sold me the complete Set Brand New for 500. and they sound Really Good. and have midi.

of course my dream was the Roland V-Drums, But their equivalent set runs 2,900.

    Keep Jamming!,

    I-B-Reel !

  • Can I put any kick bass pad on it?

  • @GrazianoDrummer .. YUP, The KP65 Kick Pad Plugs right in, an you can attach any normal Drum Pedal to it.

I have a TAMMA Double Pedal mounted on mine!

    Yhanks for Viewing,

    I-B-Reel

  • so this kit sound is the DD55 samples ?

  • @Fishpigg

Correct, these are the built in samples from the DD55.

But if you listen using the built in speakers, it sounds really bad!

But they sound great when you use the line/headphone output.

    Thanks for viewing!

    I-B-Reel !

  • If u dont mind me asking

How did u record the sounds of the drums, without the sounds of the stick hitting the pad

Thank you, im sorry, im a bit new to this

  • @2719328

No Worries, everyone was new to this an one point.

You don't hear the stick hitting the pads because, I don't use a Microphone.

    I use the Headphone/Line out-jack. A stereo cable connects the DD55 to a small

8-ch Mixer. Last step, my Mixer is connected to my Mac Computer.

Can use my Computer to record.

    Hope this helps,

    Thanks for Viewing!

  • looks fun :]

  • very good video, but I have a question, what pedals are you using? it is not the original, because I have also the yamaha dd 55 but I have no pedals, which I can buy that are compatible?

    PLEASE ANSWERME!!!

  • Respond to this video...

Your DD55 should of came with cheap plastic pedals, I hated those pedals, so I upgraded to the Yamaha pedals used on their Pro-Kits.

The HiHat Pedal I have is the Yamaha HH80, which is no longer available. The new HiHat pedal is the HH65.

and the Kick Drum pedal is the KP65. You can mount a standard Bass drum pedal to this. I attached a TAMA double Pedal to the KP65.

    Makes a huge difference.

    Thanks for viewing!

    I - B - Reel!

  • heyy man good drumming and nice setup, how did you mount the ones at the back??? thanks x

  • @TheHarrietBand

Thanks, These DD55 are designed to mount on a Regular Snare Drum Stand.

I basically have 2- Stare stands, the one in the back I use upside down.

    Thanks for Viewing!

    I - B - Reel!

  • Is this Drums plugged on something (like drum brain or something else) or is this the real sound of the yamaha dd55? Which pedal u use for the HiHat?

  • Respond to this video... Actual Real Sound coming fro the DD55 Headphone-Line output.

The DD55 comes with cheap plastic pedals, so you are correct, I upgraded the pedals.

The HiHat Pedal I have is the Yamaha HH80, which is no longer available. The new HiHat pedal is the HH65.

and the Kick Drum pedal is the KP65.

    Thanks for viewing!

    I-B-Reel!

  • is there a double bass preset on the dd55?

  • It comes with 2- cheap plastic pedals & has 2-Pedal Inputs.

One is for Kick-Drum, the other for HiHat. but you can assign any sound to any pad or pedal. So if you want you can have both pedals as Kick Drum. But what I dis is got rid of the cheap plastic pedals, and found KP65 Kick Pad, these are used on Yamaha's Pro Kits, and you can mount any Regular Bass-Drum pedal to the KP65.

I am using a TAMA Double Pedal on mine. Hope this make sense.. Thanks for Viewing!

    I-B-Reel

  • @JacksonzRulez ... forgot to answer your question... YES, one of the preset kits is a double bass Kit!

  • Dude, 1st congrats for ur Toy Drums Set. Is this a White Nintendo DS on the desk? If it is, what's the deal with it? Is it turned on and connected in some way with ur Yamaha DD 55?

  • @Mordruit Thanks for the congrats. and yes that's a Nintendo DS. It's not connected to the DD55... But you might have something there. lol, anyway back to the DS Question.... Please check out my YouTube Video called

My Toy Guitar Nintendo-DS Jam Session. Thanks Foe Viewing! I-B-Reel!

  • Upgraid to a DD65 i have a 55 & 65 and i tell you put them both together and you have a monster portable set

  • @KMNKeyboardVault Great Idea! just need to find a cheap used one. That would be cool!'Thanks For Viewing!

    I-B-Reel

  • @IBREEL The sound of the DD65 is off of the Yamaha Motif & Tyros3 I had a drummer come over and dint want to bring his drums so i told him i have the Yamaha DD55 & DD65 and we was sceptic at first but he love it and it dounded like a pro set

  • @KMNKeyboardVault Cool!, so the percussion samples are from the Motif ? Explains why these drum pads sound so good. (as long as you use the Line out, and not the built in speakers) lol..

    Thanks for the Info!

    I-B-Reel!

  • Great idea this setup!!!!!

  • @mauricejanssenbvi Cool! Thanks For Viewing!

    I-B-Reel!

    FUN TOYS !

    I-B-Reel !

  • @IBREEL

do they come with any cords to hook up to the comp to record the sounds?

  • @Gr1zz3m No, but they do have a Headphone/Line out. That's how I plugged to my Mac.

    Thanks For Viewing!

    I-B-Reel!

  • did u have too buy two n put them together?

  • @mrpelon1000

Yup, Bought 1, then found a used one, as a back-up. set them up side by side to make sure they worked.

And they've never been apart since.

    I-B-Reel !

  • Um...Dude get a Acoustic kit, you deserve one.

  • @DeathbyMetalMusic

    haha thanks,

I actually have 2-Acoustic sets, but these are my "Toy Drums" for Night time Jamming without waking up neighbors.

    I-B-Reel !

  • Dude what pedals are you using ? Are they connected to the pedal 1 & 2 on dd-55 or are they triggers separate connections to you amp?

  • @ceangasrevenge

They are plugged into Pedal 1 & 2 on the DD55

They are the pedal & Pad used for the Yamaha Pro sets, I have a Tama Double Pedal mounted on the Kick Pad.

    They make a huge difference!

    I-B-Reel !

  • you guy should play on a real drum

  • Hey Man, never mind any of the negative comments, you totally ROCK. I'd give my left arm for you to teach me drums, of course I couldn't drum then, lol.

  • @Freakbrother69 hahaha Dude that's too funny, thanks for the kind words.

You don't have to know how to play... Remember, it's all about the FUN.

    Plus... It's great Therapy.

It's a cheap plastic toy, but the Stereo Headphone out to a good stereo sounds pretty good.

It also has a bunch of built in songs you can play along with to teach yourself!

    Thanks for Viewing!

    I-B-Reel !

  • such precision...nice :)

  • now hook it up to ez drummer or something and have killer samples :D

  • can you set the drums to where you want them to be on this machine?

  • well done!

  • what are you using for bass drum? they dont look standard

  • @Westy196740

thats called a kick pedal... he prolly just rigged it up to his pad ( via a piece of wood connected to a regular bass drum hoop) like i did, works fine for double kick but having them on the floor does fine too

  • @idunno130

They are plugged into Pedal 1 & 2 on the DD55

They are the pedal & Pad used for the Yamaha Pro sets, I have a Tama Double Pedal mounted on the Kick Pad.

    They make a huge difference!

    I-B-Reel !

  • what are you triggering with your foot?

  • Nice playing! But this set sucks! It doesnt even look like a drum set!

  • @SuperXpress2

I agree... It's cheap Plastic with rubber pads.

But that's why I call them "My Toy Drums"

    Thanks for for viewing!

    I-B-Reel !

  • @IBREEL Well, do you have a real drum set?

  • @SuperXpress2

Yes I do, I currently have a Rogers Power Set.

Here's a pretty old video on one of my old sets..... check-out!

It’s on my YouTube Channel, search…

  • Nice pink DS there.

  • esta pabo

  • F@ck yeah!!!! That was awesome!!! Drum hero!

  • Disgusting sick maddness!

  • Fuck Yeah Breel

  • You're like bloody Neil Peart on that thing!

  • hi friend good playing. ı ve got a question. have you ever used casio LD80 I am confused between YAMAHA DD55 and CASİO LD80 can you help me :))

  • @avbworm

Interesting.... I have never used the Casio LD80, It depends on which one sounds best using Headphones. (Don't use the built in speakers)

I took a look, the Pad Lay-out looks exactly like the DD55.

You might want to check out the DD-65, pretty cool.

I don't think they make the DD55 anymore. But you can find a used one very cheap on ebay.

    Thanks For Viewing!

    I-B-Reel

  • @IBREEL thanks for replying friend. ı will think about DD65 and will wait your good vids :))

  • can you use the central pad as a snare?

  • @acdcfanseba112

Yes, there's 1 Custom Kit setting that you can set any sound to any Pad!

    I-B-Reel !

  • fantastico

  • I just scored one of these from a friends garage for free. Replaced the pedals with Rock Band pedals for $10 apiece on amazon, plus 2 little adapters from Radio shack for $5

  • Pink ds in the background xD

  • Nice. I just bought one of these at a thrift store for $50. I am excited to work it into my music.

One thing though, I don't like the foot peddles. I see that you have what looks like real foot peddles where the mallets must strike the toy peddles?

  • @nathanielscott ,

First thing I did is Upgrade the Pedals- Replace the plastic foot switch pads!

Yamaha, KP65 kick tower. This Kick Pad, made for their Pro sets.

Plugs right into DD-55, & DD-65, And, attach any normal Drum Pedal to it, I have a TAMA Double Kick Pedal mounted on my DD-55. They also have HiHat Pedals. I Got a used Yamaha HH-80 HiHat Pedal ... HH-65 works as well.

    It Makes ALL the difference.

    Thanks for viewing! I-B-Reel!

  • @IBREEL Nice job. I have the older DD-50 and want to use the KP65. Do you know if it will work with that model too? Thanks.

  • @jfr04 I think that would be a SWEET Combo, you set up your DD-50 as all your Cymbals, above the DD-65 which will be your Hi-Hat & Lots-O-Drums!.

Note: If you plan to Use Headphones or Stereo Amp...

You will need some kind of simple Mixer to combine the 2-units together.

Let me know how it turns out..

    Thanks for viewing!

    I-B-Reel

  • @IBREEL Thanks, that would be a great combo. I was actually talking about the compatibility of the KP65 bass tower with the DD-50. It seems that it should work, but I just wanted to pick your brain for some info. Thanks again.

  • @IBREEL is it only the Yamaha DD-55 or are u using some roland model with it to get this "good" sound?

  • Goes to show, you don't have to have a massive amazing electronic kit, a little talent goes a long way.

  • at 20 i thought you were gonna play skin o my teeth from mega deth or to hot for teacher by halen......lolol

  • which is better ? Yamaha DD-55 or DD-65 ?

  • @GutYourMom

The DD-65 is Newer & has 1- extra Pad and a few more instrument Samples.

But I don't Like the Pad Layout of the DD-65.

The DD-55 has a Center Pad which I like for Hi-Hat.

If you've played an regular Acoustic drum-set, you'll like the DD-55 Layout.

It's just a matter of getting used to it.

Good Luck , Either one will be FUN!!

  • Dude! Thanks for the compliment, you are much too kind.

Neil is one of the best there is. I have seen RUSH live 5 times.

I still think the 2112 Tour was amazing, as far as Drumming goes.

And of course their YYZ tune Rocks as well.

    Thanks Again for Viewing.

    I-B-Reel !

  • 0.37 onwards sounds exactly like a Neil Peart drum solo. That is a massive compliment by the way - your playing is excellent!

  • No, These are actually really cheap....

I got these used, under $100 ea

    Thanks for viewing!

    I-B-Reel

  • bet those were expensive

  • Cool. I had one of those modules for a while. Two gives you a very large set.

  • You Are Too Awesome!

    Thanks for the great compliment.

It's all about having FUN, You should try it sometime.

    Thanks for Viewing!

    I-B-Reel!

  • You suck but ur fake drums sound really good.. :)

  • F'ing brilliant mate!!! Wooooooooooo!

  • they say casio ld-80 is better but u r soooooooo great man

  • Is that good for practicing at home ? Or it's just to have fun ?

  • These are a blast and a lot of fun to play.

Especially at night with headphones, without waking anyone up.

I wouldn't recommend these for a touring band.

I call them "My Toy Drums" because they are made of Plastic, and wont take much to break.

    .

They're great at home, or even

a Lounge House Band that can stay set-up.,

For the price theu are Great!

    Thanks for viewing!

  • do you know what kit youre using on this?

what snare number, and tom number. mine all sound terrible. but yours are great

  • very nice..

do you have a real drumkit, too ??

  • What program do you use to record, or do you use midi???

  • @juaandiiego

These do Have MIDI In & Out,

    but I don't use them.

I use an Alesis FireWire Mixer connected to my Mac-Pro.

If I'm working on Audio Only, I use GarageBand Software.

But if I'm Recording a Video Clip w/Audio,

I use Final Cut Pro Software.

    Hope this helps,

    I-B-Reel !

  • is it connected via MIDI

  • These do have MIDI in & Out.

But I don't use them, I'm using a FireWire Mixer.

  • that is fuking aesome

  • Thanks for viewing!

  • i have these drums now how much would i get if i sell em ?

  • If it works & is in good shape. . .

    Between 40 & 75 dollars on ebay

  • is it worht buying it, or it's waste of money, here in greece are cheaper than normal ones...

  • My 1st. Choice would be Roland V-Drums.

    TD9SX But too expensive here...

But for the Price these DD55s are Great for playing at home Late nights w/ headphones.

    I-B-Reel !

  • Круто, молодец!

  • Amazing video!

I'm checking out videos of the DD55 and you sold me on it

  • no offense but at first i thought u were setting a beat by hitting ur sticks together. I couldn't even tell you were hitting the pads..

  • Please can u tell me if the dd55 fits in a regular snare stand?thanx....and great drumming btw.........

  • Thanks for viewing...

Yes! The bottom of the DD-55 is Molded for exactly that. Reg Snare Stand.

    I-B-Reel

  • hey, i whonder....are theise worth a buy if a want an electric drum set?

and are the pads hard to hit?

and third but not least, can i change the sound efects like i can with a piano ceyboard?

  • These are a great buy for the price, great for playing at home.

I would not use them live, for a Professional electric set, get ROLAND V-Drums.

The pads are not hard to hit, once you get use to them.

Change the sound like a piano....

If you mean "touch sensitive" Yes...

The sound changes if you hit the pad hard, & if you hit the pas soft.

You can also program any sound to any pad.

    I-B-Reel!

  • thx for the answer dude, i realy appritiate it =)

im not an experianced drummer, just a noob and a want some to mess around with, so they sound perfect 4 me =)

  • i forgot ... great drumming !

  • You're too awesome, Thanks!

  • Thanks,

Yes, one of the Kit Presets does exactly that, double Bass.

There's also 1-Custom Kit where you can assign any sound to any Pad or Pedal.

    I-B-Reel

  • great! It' an excellent idea to put two overlapping dd55, one can use as many as 14 pads ... lot! but where can I buy those pedals that I see on the video ?

  • Deffinetly hours of Fun...

Those Pedal & Kick Pad are Actually for Yamaha's Pro Sets, but work great on these pads, & make a HUGE difference.

    Hi-Hat Pedal is a Yamaha HH-80

    Kick Pad is Yamaha KP-65

(I attached a TAMA double pedal to the KP-65)

    Thanks for viewing!

    I-B-Reel !

  • How strange! I sent an email directly to Yamaha and they told me that the pad that you use is not compatible with the battery ... boh! Yet the pad that you use is the one that i see in the video :)

  • Can you link this up with a pc and replace a few of the original instruments with different voice clips or instument sounds?? if so how?? (I want to use it as mainly a trigger)

  • I believe so.

The DD-55 & DD65 Pads have MIDI in & out.

So if you have software on your PC that controls MIDI devices, then it should work.

I personally have not used the MIDI connections, but that's what they're for

    Thanks for Viewing!

    I-B-Reel.

  • yea. i use it with FL Studio and Superior Drummer using midi

  • yamaha dd 65 its better drums

  • You can plug in a Guitar Hero World Tour kick pedal using a jack adapter and use that for kick. It doesnt seem to work for the hihat which is funny. I thought it might be the other way around as the hihat isnt pressure sensitive....

  • kick ass my friend

  • just get a acoustic set...

  • Great sound. I bought the dd60 a few months ago. Do you think all my skills will transfer over to a real set when I get around to buying one? I find the litte foot pads difficult to use, but manageable.

  • Thanks for Viewing

Yup, these DD pads are GREAT learning tools, with all the built in songs etc.

When you get to the real set you'll have to adjust your aim for a month ro so, but you'll be ready to Rock & Roll!

I tossed the plastic Pedals & swapped them out for the Yamaho Pro pedals.

    Made a huge difference..

    I-B-REEL!

  • Thanks for the quick reply! That is good to know the skills will transfer. I am working on the built-in songs, one by one.How much did the pro pedals cost you?

  • ebay..

There's a Yamaha KP65 for bass Drum on ebay now for 39 dollars.

the Yamaha HH80 for hiHat didn't list.

It's all in the timing.. haha

  • Thanks for finding that. Is that all I need or do I have to buy any additional components and electronics to get all setup?

  • Yamaha HH-80 Hi Hat Pedal, just plug it in, & you're ready go.

Yamaha KP-65 Kick-Pad, plugs in the same...

    BUT, You can attach any...

REAL... Bass-Drum Pedal to the KP-65.

I attached a TAMA Double-Bass PEDAL to mine.

It's the same Pedal I use on my real kit.

  • Gotcha! I take it I need both the KP65 kick pad AND a bass-drum pedal? I can't just buy the KP65 and start playing?

  • Exactly,

    Which is good,

When you transition to a reel Drum Kit, you use the same Pedal, with the same feel.

    I-B-REEL!

  • No, Not all of your skills will go with you, Theres so many things you can do on an acoustic kit, That you cant do on e-drums. And vise versa. With e-drums. They are forgiving you see. You don't really have to have much sticking technique to play e-drums, With acoustics, Sticking is everything. Hitting the drum correctly, And the cymbal correctly.

  • Thanks for that information. I'll try and focus on my technique with the electronic drums. This way when I move to the acoustic set my technique will at least be correct.

  • that made my day!

  • I see, good job man!

  • are these velocity sensitive? like accents?

  • Yup, what I can tell, about 3-levels of sensitivity.

    I-B-Reel

  • ok, does it sound good, like could i be able to do a good sounding snare solo, and still have it sound legit

  • Sort of... if you listen to this video around :44 Sec. in.

you'll hear some snare rolls with accents, that's about as good as it gets.

For sensitivity with electric drums, ROLAND's V-Drums

    are the best I've tried.

I think V-Drums are the next best thing to real drums.

    Just too expensive for me.

    I-B-Reel!

  • nice drumming!!! How did you put a pedal?

  • Thanks for viewing!

These pads come with cheap plastic pedals.

I found YAMAHA's foot pads on ebay. They're made for their pro drum kits, but work on these pads too.

KP65 Pad works with any bass drum pedal, I attached a TAMA double Pedal to it.

    HH80 HiHat Pedal.

    It Makes a huge difference!

    I-B-Reel

  • fucking impressive! on this little piece of shit, u kick ass! i wanna see u on a real set, damn. good work.

  • Thanks for checking it out.

For cheap plastic toys, there a lot of fun.

If you want to see me real set, check out my other video called...

("MYTH" The Rock Band's 1989 Drum Solo At Sneakers Rock Club)

  • Thank You, you're much too Kind.

Just having FUN with plastic Toy Drums.

The best part is, I don't wake anyone up anymore.

I'd love to hear your guitar Riffs! I'll keep an eye out.

    Thanks for Viewing,

    I-B-Reel!

  • this is a great little electronic drum kit, I have one, I just found the pads a little small, and sometimes hit the sticks alot.

    :(

Other than that Id give it

    9-10 :D

  • play this on a real drum set and you can make big money if the right people gets to hear you

  • Thanks for viewing!

These are just my "Toy Drums" that I can play at night without waking anyone up...

I do have a few real Drum Kits.

And I have toured with a band... long ago.

See some of my older videos like...

"MYTH" The Rock Band's 1989 Drum Solo"

Quality's not great, but you'll get the idea,.

  • Nice playing. What amp are you using?

  • Thanks For Viewing.

I use the Alesis MultiMix8 FireWire Mixer.

Stereo Line out from Each DD55 Pad plugs into a Stereo input on the Mixer.

FireWire cable from MultiMix8 straight into my Mac-Pro computer, and record Live using Final Cut Pro Editing software.

    Hope this helps...

  • Aha... no wonder it sounds so good. The onboard sounds always seem better without external amplification. And headphones seem a bit better than amps.

FWIW, I have a DD55 and a DD65, and I prefer the onboard speakers of the 55 to the 65. Better bass porting I suppose.

  • Cool,

Which Pad Layout do you like better?

    &

Do you have the 55 & the 65 set up together as one Kit?

That would be some Nice Toy Drums!

  • It's a toss-up really. At first I was annoyed by the hi hat placement on the DD55, but I got used to it. I find the cross sticking a bit of a challenge on the DD65 because the height of the snare and hat pads are so close, but I'm sure I'll adjust. Haven't tried combining the kits yet, but your video has given me ideas!
