plasma is great but still a little bit buggy sometimes, but it gets better with every version. i dont miss kde3 anymore

switch to xrender instead of opengl (desktop settings -> Desktop effects -> advanced) that helped on my laptop.

what i like the most about KDE 4.3 .... is the usability and the functionality ...not very concerned about eye candy :D

The program is called recordmydesktop.

You must choose full speed to record desktop effects.

This video seems to having nothing to do with "the New look of KDE 4.3." You didn't show anything new. People can do those same exact things on openbox, lxde, gnome, rox, xfce..etc

You haven't shown what's new in KDE 4.3 or how the desktop even differs from KDE 4.2.xx

this doesn't showcase kde, it does a good job of showing off compiz fusion though...

Actually, that's KWin running. KWin is quite a bit faster than Compiz now, and much more integrated.

Boring video, there are only desktop effect. What about the search box in the right-top corner? Does it work? I have tried it in some KDE four live and the Strigi did not start, it failed due to something.

Fast desktop search in the open-save dialog and file manager is very important thing.

Have you enabled nepomuk? After that the search bar works ...

I have tried to enable it in System Settings, but there was some problem with start of the daemon. I'll wait for KDE 4.3 final version, install Kubuntu 9.04 with KDE 4.3. Anyway, final version of Windows Seven is closer and closer. It is gonna be hard to make the decision about staying on Linux (3 years), or go back to Windows. W7 seems very good.

Yes W7 looks ok. But i stay on my linux box. I like to code things ... on my own.

I am not programmer. I use PC for work, web developing (PHP, HTML, CSS, some work with GIMP). Nowadays, I am fed up with KDE 4's FTP clients. In KFTPgrabber does not work shortcuts => useless, Krusader's FTP module lost connection and it has to be connected again and again every 5 minutes, when I am tuning some stylesheet. There is not certain FTP client for KDE 4. Too bad.

Try dolphin, Just enter the ftp adress and use all features of dolphin ... sure there is no ftp client for kde4 but dolphin and konqueror solves that too ...

I have tried Konqueror and Dolphin. But Konqueror does not have shortcuts. And I can not do it with mouse, it is very long time to drag, move, drop. I have to use Krusader as the only one FTP client in KDE 4 with shortcuts.

My Intel GMA950 has never been fast with KDE. Redrawing windows is so slow. I wish I could find a way to fix.

There should be new Intel video driver In Kubuntu 9.10 . I am waiting too. I have GMA 965 and it is not perfect, however it usability.
