  • lol oh shit better pull up the window so im safe HAAHA :/

  • i wish every loading bar thingy was the NYAN CAT!!!

  • sounds like a tiger roaring

  • I cannot believe that no chasers have been hit by lightning.

  • press 4 and 7 repeatedly to hear a backwards version of "We Will Rock You".

  • lol I do love storms but that popping noise is freaky as fuck

  • 20 people need to go to an audiologist.

  • No matter the 'pop' you where still about 1sek away from the lightning bolt.

    That's about 300yards

  • is that a funnel cloud? or just a funny shaped storm cloud?

  • @SuperBeachgoer It's a wall cloud. I'm a storm chaser and seen plenty of them. A lot of times lightning starts getting really active when a wall cloud is forming, it happened on a few of the tornadoes I filmed. But the lightning calmed down before the tornadoes spawned that I filmed. I want to get a video with lightning and a tornado at the same time, but for some reason it never happens for me.

  • @Torn80cj yup, hey can wall clouds be described as lowering cumulus clouds?

  • @josecitoperecito I would say no even though it is lowering from a supercell which is cumulonimbus. Some wall clouds are so broken up that they would appear as harmless scuds to someone who didn't know what they were looking at. I have seen tornadoes form beside a wall cloud instead of straight from one. Some cases the wall cloud will disappear and then the tornado spawns.

  • @Torn80cj oh. ok thank you, you are a smart stormchaser.

  • @Torn80cj ty second question. can roll clouds make precipitation and lightning and thunder?

  • @josecitoperecito usually precipitation will follow the roll cloud. If any rain drops were to fall from one, they would be very tiny like drops of drizzle. They acually do not cause lightning and lightning is what causes thunder. Roll clouds are formed from a horizontal spin in the wind, and condensation is what lets you see the actual spinning of the air.

  • @Torn80cj It may be that the cloud (tornado) is touching the ground so the difference in charge between the cloud and the ground is more balanced, so less cg lightning would happen

  • Sounds like a rifle shot

  • dude that pop sounds like it broke the sound barrier... hmmm

  • lol i love how the bird is chirping and then BOOM! hahaha dang

  • faved, just because such good sound quality

  • @slr1987 wow your right

  • is it me or is that a tornado forming in the background? Or is it just some kind of wall cloud?

  • there was the begining of a torndo in the backgrounfd

  • looks like you where about to have a tornado

  • y were u under the power lines

  • meh... not that close

  • i like how he rolled up the window , then giggled after the thunder :)

  • That could've been a line strike several poles down. Usually RF pop in a mic is just that, a pop. This sounded more metallic, like a chink noise of the juice going through the lines. Nice catch, at any rate!

  • kansas has the krayziest ones.

  • EXACTLY 366yds away! (1100ft)!!

  • towards the end...roll 'em up great video...storms fascinate me but here in the UK, we don't see many spectacular ones

  • hm there was a pop... the skypeople turned on the lights xD

    i'd run :P

  • Standing under a power line was probably not the smartest thing to do ---- I miss Texas /Oklahoma T-Storms, some of the best in the country.

  • I timed 1.2 seconds from the flash to the bang, what would that mean? How far away was the lightning?

  • 300m distance

  • I'd say about 400 m :P

  • The wall cloud began to lower at the end of the video. That was still awesome!!

  • What was that pop? EMP?

  • Very nice wall cloud shot...while I too heard the nice ''lightning pop'' ((seen at 00:18))sound from your camcorder's mike....and then the gorgeous thunderclap!!! Sounds like this was videotaped right from the 'bear's cage'' area...and you were quite wise to videotape this supercell from inside your parked car.... BTW..my 8/8/08-Tstorm video..looks like a wall-cloud/tornado scene too. Check THAT out...!!!

  • Actually that noise would have been the radio interference with the cameras microphone.

  • Actually no. I have been close enough to hear that pop first hand with nothing but my ears. That was too close!

  • I have heard audible fizzing or hissing sounds with very close strikes but not poping sounds. I just assumed in this case that it was like the effect I've noticed with transister radios that pop & crackle even with very distant lightning. Maybe our brains are like transister radios to some extent! :P

  • I'm guessing its the sound of the arc!

  • that noise was the stepped leader

  • see the cloud?to me 8it looks like a forming tornado.

  • see the mesocyclone-wall cloud? i do

  • were you watching that storm under power lines?

  • ive seen closer

  • Glad your okay, and in knowing that, we can chuckle with you. Awesome catch.

  • lol even when the lighting struke you could her a little sound

  • adding to my playlist,thanks 4 sharing!

  • lolololol did u see the tornado

  • lol funny the window goes up! XD [2]

  • Nice Jump when the crash Comes along :P

  • Lol the laughing xD

  • damn id be worried about that cloud in the distance looking like a formation of a tornado >.>

  • Don't blame you for bailing! I'd get the hell out of there too! Your hair must have stood on end for a second.

By the way, great shot of the non-tornadic wall cloud in the distance.

  • i lol'd @ the same time

    but what a nice sound

  • yeah lightning and thunder is so beautiful

  • me too!!

i usally hide in my closet doing that close bad lightning storm.

  • that thunderclap when its slowed down sounds really cool!

  • i love thunder especially when it shakes your house lol

  • LOL!!! Love it when the window goes up :)

    Nice zap n bang!

  • Amazing thunderclouds, and the big BOOOOM was awsume

  • The lightning bolt was not shown or I couldnt really see it

  • Awesome shot, even tho you didn't catch the bolt itself, the click noise followed by the thunder is amazing in itself. Ty for uploading!

  • what the crap where did it hit?

  • That "click" produces electrical shock, lightning downloading lot of tension and releases that sound is the small electric shock caused by a metal object, in this case the tower is high tensón which is responsible for making clicking sounds are wonderful lightning that discharge near closed.

  • Fantastic, love that sound !!

  • Nice vid, what is it with the "click" sound

I shot two vid's last year and they were good close ones, and they both have the "click sound on them ????

  • looks like a tornado is forming in the background

  • nice

  • Great thunder!!
